It is available one research grant for doctors, within the Research Unit CITAB – Centre for The Research and Technology of Agro-Environmental and Biological Sciences (AGR-Norte-VilaReal-4033) from the Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, Portugal, funded by national funds through FCT/MCTE, under the following conditions: Scientific area: Engineering [Mechanical Engineering] Admission prerequisites: PhD in Mechanical Engineering, with experience in experimental and computational methods applied to solid mechanics. Preference will be given to candidates that demonstrate to have solid background in digital image correlation method, finite element method and inverse identification methods of constitutive parameters. Work plan: The selected candidate work will be in the area of mechanical behaviour of vegetable tissues and structures (wood, chestnut, cherry and grape).The work will focus on the development of experimental and inverse identification methods (coupling finite element simulation with optimization strategies) of elastic and viscoelastic properties of vegetable tissues and on the study of microstructure/properties relationships. Workplace: The work will be conducted at the Centre for The Research and Technology of Agro-Environmental and Biological Sciences under the supervision of Professor José Joaquim Lopes Morais, located at Vila Real, Portugal. Grant duration: The grant duration is 12 months, starting at November 2015, and may be renewed up to a maximum of 60 months, in accordance with current legislation and financial availability (subject to FCT funding).
