It is available one research grant for masters, within the Research Unit CITAB – Centre for The Research and Technology of Agro-Environmental and Biological Sciences (AGR-Norte-VilaReal-4033) from the Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, Portugal, funded by national funds through FCT, under the following conditions: Scientific area: Engineering Admission prerequisites: MSc in Engineering or related areas. Preferred requirements: - Research experience in the areas of data and data communication, signal and instrumentation; - Previous participation in research projects in the areas in which the work plan is inserted; - Experience with Programming Languages and Matlab software; - Ability to work independently; - Participation as author or co-author of one or more publications in peer-reviewed international journals [original works already published or accepted for publication (DOI)]; - Dynamism, team spirit, high sense of responsibility, organization and method. - Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and communication skills.
Work plan: Development and application of sensors networks for agro-forestry systems. The person hired will do experimental field work and will develop sensors networks for capturing signals of different kind, from very specific ones related to vineyards and grapes parameters estimation to image for support and preprocessing stages in harvesting processes. The work will be conducted at the Centre for The Research and Technology of Agro-Environmental and Biological Sciences under the supervision of Professor Carlos Serôdio, located at Vila Real, Portugal Grant duration: The grant duration is 6 months, starting at July 2015, and may be renewed up to a maximum of 12 months, in accordance with current legislation and financial availability (subject to FCT funding). Monthly maintenance grant: The
grant
corresponds
to
980
euros
according
to
the
FCT
payment
table
in
Portugal
(http://alfa.fct.mctes.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores). Payment is done on a monthly basis through bank deposit, cheque or other equivalent way. Candidates’ selection criteria: The selection methods to use will be the following: 1º Curricular evaluation (scale from 0 to 20 values); 2º Professional experience in the research area (scale from 0 to 20 values); 3º Interview (if necessary as a tiebreaker).
Candidates will be sorted in a scale from 0 to 20 values, with rounding to the first decimal place and using to the following weights for the selection criteria: Curricular evaluation (50%); Professional experience in the research area (50%); Interview of the candidates (if necessary as a tiebreaker).

The list will be placed in a visible and public place at CITAB office (building P2 - UTAD). The best candidate will be informed by e-mail. If the decision is unfavorable to the grant of the scholarship, the applicant has a period of 10 days following such disclosure, to pronounce himself in a preliminary hearing, under the terms of the Administrative Procedure Code.
