It is available one grant for postdoctoral researchers, within the I&D project Interact ­ Integrative Research in Environment, Agro­Chain and Technology, operation NORTE­01­0145­ FEDER­000017, research line Innovation for Sustainable Agro­food Chains ­ ISAC, co­funded by European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) through NORTE 2020 (Programa Operacional Regional do Norte 2014/2020) Scientific area: Agricultural Sciences Mandatory requirements: a) PhD in Agronomy, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Food Science or related fields; b) Research experience; c) Immediate availability. Desirable requirements: a) Experience in scientific production; b) Research experience in scientific areas included in the work plan; c) English language domain. Workplace: The research work will be conducted at the Centre for The Research and Technology of Agro­Environmental and Biological Sciences, located at Vila Real, Portugal, under the supervision of Professors Carlos Correia, Paula Lopes, Fernando Nunes and Anabela Silva. Grant Duration: Duration: 12 months, starting at May 2016. The grant may be renewed until the end of the project. The fellow's functions should be performed on an exclusive basis. Monthly maintenance grant: The amount of the grant corresponds to €1,495.00, according to the amount's table of the grants awarded directly by FCT in the country. Payment will be made on a monthly basis through bank deposit, cheque or other equivalent way. Application deadline and method: Applications will be received from 18st april to 2sd May 2016. Research work plan: The fellow will be integrated in the subproject “Improving olive orchards cropping practices to cope with a changing environment” that intends to introduce innovative agricultural practices and technologies (ground­cover, canopy, nutrient and water management), in order to promote the performance of olive trees under more adverse climate conditions, protect the environment and the quality and safety of olive products. As co­responsible for the scientific management of the project, the fellow will: ­ Develop research on agronomy, ecophysiology, molecular biology and plant composition areas, namely in activities such as water relations, photosynthesis, carbon metabolism, oxidative stress, gene expression, cytogenetics, growth, yield, composition of olive products and valorization of olive mill wastes. ­ Write progress reports and prepare results for publication and dissemination. ­ Plan and carry out research of her/his own initiative, in accordance with the assigned project goals. ­ Co­supervisor researchers involved in work plan.
