In the framework of the I&D research project – INTERACT Integrative Research in Environment, AgroChain and Technology, operation number NORTE010145FEDER000017, “Fostering viticulture sustainability for Douro Valley: multidisciplinary efforts from field to wine – VitalityWINE”, a call for one Postdoctoral Research Grant is open at the Centre for the Research and Technology of AgroEnvironmental and Biological Sciences of the University of TrásosMontes e Alto (UTAD), funded by National funds through NORTE 2020 and European funds through FEDER, under the following conditions: Scientific area: Agricultural Sciences. Admission requirements: Mandatory requirements: a) PhD in Agricultural Sciences, Plant Sciences or related fields; b) Research experience; c) Immediate availability. Desirable requirements: a) Experience in scientific production; b) Research experience in scientific areas included in the work plan; c) English language domain. Workplace: The research work will be conducted at the Centre for The Research and Technology of AgroEnvironmental and Biological Sciences (CITAB), located at Vila Real, Portugal, under the supervision of Prof. José Moutinho Pereira, Prof. Isabel Cortez and Prof. Francisco Peixoto. Grant Duration: 12 months, starting in May 2016. The grant may be renewed until the end of the project (April 2019). Value of monthly allowance: The amount of the grant corresponds to €1,495.00, according to the table of values of grants awarded directly by the FCT in the country. Payment will be made on a monthly basis through bank deposit, cheque or other equivalent way. Form of publication and notification of results: The final results of the application will be communicated to the candidates by email. Following the announcement of the result of the application, the candidate is considered to be automatically notified to check the process if desired and to rule on a preliminary hearing within 10 working days. The selected candidate must declare in writing his/her acceptance and communicate the effective starting date of the grant. Lack of this statement within the required period is equivalent to the resignation of the grant, except in case of reasonable justification. In case of the first selected candidate acceptance impediment, the candidate ranked in second place (and so on) will be selected, according to the list ordered by the Selection Committee, to be included in the meeting minutes. The final classification list will be posted in the Office Projects Support (GAP, building P2 UTAD). Research work plan: The research fellow will be integrated in the subproject “Grapevine management measures at shortterm and their effects on wine quality”. The specific objective of this subproject consists in the implementation of shortterm climate change adaptation and mitigations strategies for Portuguese vineyards, with special emphasis in typical Mediterranean areas, such Douro Region, where changes in temperature and in the pattern of precipitation will be predicted, leading to dramatic economic consequences on allgrape sectors. As coresponsible for the scientific management of the subproject, the fellow will: 1) Develop research on grapevine ecophysiology, grapevine pathology, biochemistry and molecular biology, namely in activities related with the combined effect of biotic and abiotic stresses on water relations, photosynthesis, primary metabolites, oxidative stress, growth, productivity and quality of the grapes; 2) Write progress reports and prepare results for publication and dissemination; 3) Plan and carry out research of her/his own initiative, in accordance with the assigned project goals; 4) Cosupervisor researchers involved in work plan. Legislation and regulations: The grant is undertaken in an exclusive dedication regime, and it is attributed according to the Advanced Training and Qualification of Human Resources of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (‘Regulamento de Formação Avançada de Recursos Humanos da FCT’, Law N º. 40/2004 of 18th August) (www.fct.mctes.pt/pt/apoios/formacao/ambitoprojectos) and Research Grant Regulation of the UTAD Order RT.36/2011, 6th July, published in the ‘Diário da República’. 9157/2011 (Series II) of 19th July 2011. Workplace: The research work will be conducted at the Centre for The Research and Technology of AgroEnvironmental and Biological Sciences (CITAB), located at Vila Real, Portugal, under the supervision of Prof. José Moutinho Pereira, Prof. Isabel Cortez and Prof. Francisco Peixoto. Evaluation methods: Curriculum (C) evaluation, which, if necessary, can be complemented by a selection interview (I) to the best candidates up to a maximum of 5 candidates. Applicants who reside abroad can be interviewed via video conference. The classification in curriculum evaluation will be obtained depending on the factors below identified: a) Scientific production, based on the number of JCR articles weighted by the journal ranking (1.5 1.0 0.5 0.25 for Q1 to Q4, respectively), and the author position (1.0 for first, corresponding or senior author and 0.5 for other positions) (maximum of 55 points); b) Research experience in scientific areas included in work plan 10 points/each area (maximum of 40 points); c) Motivation letter 5 points. If the Selection Committee decides to hold a selection interview, the final classification will be obtained by the following formula: 0.6 x C + 0.4 x I.
