Propos d'Artiste Bobbie Burgers est née en 1973 à Vancouver, Colombie-Britannique. Elle obtient un baccalauréat en histoire de l’art en 1996 à l’Université de Victoria. Ayant étudié à Aix-en-Provence, elle y retourne souvent afin d’y saisir la vie, la lumière et l’esprit dont ses peintures sont imprégnées. Burgers a déjà participé à plus de 60 expositions solo en Europe, aux États-Unis et au Canada. Ses tableaux se retrouvent au sein de nombreuses collections à travers le monde. Le critique d’art, Michael Upchurch, écrivit en 2013 dans son analyse : ‘’ Les œuvres de Burgers sont une combinaison saisissante d’un délice visuel et d’un Momento Mori méditatif. Cette tension, mêlant une éclosion de vie et l’inévitable flétrissement, rend les tableaux de Burgers autant séduisants à l’esprit que délicieux à l’œil. ‘’ Burgers évoque le temps dans son œuvre, en affirmant : ‘’Durant les dernières années, mes natures mortes évoluèrent de portraits de fleurs à portraits du temps. Passé, présent et futur s’entremêlent simultanément. Mes tableaux ne peuvent se résumer à la rencontre de l’œil à un moment précis. J’estime que mes œuvres doivent combiner la lumière, le mouvement, le parfum, les émotions, le chemin vers lequel ils nous envoient, la précision, l’approximation, l’ouverture et la fermeture d’une fraîche atmosphère… La liste ne s’arrêtant jamais. J’adore peindre des fleurs pour la capacité de ces dernières à résumer la vie, la mort et le renouveau. Elles ont une histoire et combinent passé, présent, futur, rêves et réalité en une seule vision finale, le tout exprimant, je l’espère, mon émerveillement de la Nature. ‘’ Artist Statement

Bobbie Burgers was born in 1973 in Vancouver, B.C. She received a B.A. in Art History in 1996 from the University of Victoria. She has studied in Aix-en-Provence, France and returns often to recapture the life, light and spirit of Provence that she imbrue into her painting. Burgers has had over 60 solo exhibits in Europe, United States and Canada and is in collections all over the world. As the art critic Michael Upchurch writes in his 2013 review of Bobbie’s work, “Burgers’ works are a tingling combination of visual delight and meditational memento mori. That tension between lifepulsing bloom and inevitable wilting and decay makes Burgers’ paintings as appealing to the mind as they are pleasurable to the eye.” Burgers’ discusses the element of time in her works stating, “Over the past couple of years, my florals have moved from being portraits of flowers, to being portraits of time. In them, past, present and future play out for me simultaneously. Painting flowers can’t only be what meets the eye at one finite moment, I feel my works have to combine the light, the movement, the perfume, the emotions, the path this sends us on, the focus, lack of focus, the opening and closing in fresh cold air… the list can go on indefinitely. I love painting flowers for their ability to encapsulate life, death and renewal. These blossoms have a history, they are combining past, present, future, dreams and realities into one final vision, which I hope expresses my wonder of the natural world.”
