The world of commerce has changed significantly since the time Market Hall was built, over 120 years ago, but for anyone who values face-to-face services, in a convenient location, the new Santander Work Café delivers a unique proposition.

Rather than ‘simply’ being a bank, the Work Café offers something for all the community – from a co-working space equipped with free Wi-Fi, to free meeting rooms, and a vibrant café, run by Noa, there’s more to Market Hall than an iconic building.

For Natalie Radford, Work Café Director, the new branch is an opportunity to create a forward-thinking space in Douglas, helping bring people back into town.

“The facilities are open to all the community, creating a new, forward-thinking space where people from all generations can meet, work, grab a coffee, or attend an event. Santander International customers can also meet relationship managers here, open, and manage accounts, pop in to discuss a mortgage, or use the ATM facilities in the building.”

With over 20 years’ experience in Financial Services in the Isle of Man, Natalie brings a wide range of expertise across operations, compliance, and internal procedures to this new role. She is joined by Andrea Callow, the new Work Café Manager, and Gemma Curtis and Imogen Quirk who are taking new roles as Work Café Personal Bankers.

Natalie said: “For many customers Andrea will be a familiar face as she was previously Branch Manager at Prospect Hill. Along with key mortgage and banking staff, Andrea has moved from Prospect Hill to Market Hall, our new home for Santander International in the Isle of Man. It’s a wonderful new working environment for staff and should be the first port of call for customers.”

Natalie is developing a programme of events for the Isle of Man, opening Work Café facilities to community groups, small businesses, and entrepreneurs.

The Work Café offers five free bookable meeting rooms, and accessible co-working spaces with free Wi-Fi. Meeting rooms are equipped with 40-inch screens which connect directly to Zoom and have HDMI TV cables making it easy to join meetings and work remotely from the Isle of Man.

Noa continues to run its popular café from the site, adding a new, grab-and-go menu for the meeting rooms, event space, and co-working areas, and a selection of artisanal food and drinks.

“The Work Café is a place where everyone is welcome whether you bank with Santander International or not.” Natalie said.

Work Cafés in the British Isles have hosted a wide variety of events, from health and wellbeing seminars to book launches, marketing masterclasses and technology conferences, with charities, individuals, companies, and governmental organisations.

“Many of our key staff from Prospect Hill will be moving to the Work Café, helping us deliver a wide range of face-to-face banking services to customers at Market Hall. This is an exciting time for all of us and we can’t wait to welcome customers and show people the brilliant new facilities here.”
