Gallery M&Art agents history begins with a physical private gallery in Lund in 2012 and later in Ystad, Sweden that Marcus Carlsson owned for five years. Gallery worked with contemporary art and many talented artists asked about promotion because they didn’t know how to be more recognizable, to sell art-works, and to communicate with collectors and galleries. This is the starting point of his mission to help out other artists with promotion.

Interview with JD Shapes

Swedish Surfboards

Why do you start building surfboards? I've always liked to create things with my own hands. I started to shape boards for myself and my friends and it grew from there by the word of mouth.

How important is shape and balance in a board? The shape is everything. There are so many ways to approach a shape and what kind of waves the board will truly come alive in. I am always trying to find new feelings in the water and constantly evolving my models.

gallerym.se

gallerym.se

What materials do you use when building your boards? It all starts with a sketch that then takes shape in a big polyurethane blank that is wrapped in several layers of fiberglass saturated with polyester. Everything is done by hand the old traditional way and hasn't changed much since the late 50s.

How do you get your inspiration from building a board and painting it? I get my inspiration from everything from boards from the 60s to classic cars and nature.

All you do is crafts and art, but why do you establish yourself in southern Sweden and not in Hawaii or Bali? Living in Sweden is for sure not the best place to live if you like to surf but even though I travel a lot there's something absolutely magical when the elements come together and deliver waves not many would think is possible in our waters.

Kaite Willes USA

Katie Willes is a self-taught abstract artist. Her degree was in Chemistry, but her art education started in museums across Europe. With a passion for art herself, Katie’s mother took her to museums on every vacation and weekend trip during Katie’s teenage years, when Katie’s father was stationed at an Army hospital in Germany. Katie’s love for art continued and she takes her own children to museums in every new city and country they visit. Despite her appreciation for art, Katie always thought of herself as a left-brained person. Her interest in abstract was piqued with her first visit to the MoMA in New York. When her oldest went away to college and studied art, Katie started painting as a way to connect with her. That sparked a passion that has blazed like wildfire. With an innate eye for color and design, Katie’s paintings also reflect her optimism and happy personality.

Kathleen Margaret Charity B. Hernandez Philippines Why you start work has an artist? This is Kathleen B. Hernandez from Manila, Philippines. An Artist is a second chance at a career for me. I am a Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.) by profession. An Accountant as an initial or my first real career. I always dreamt that I can be an artist on the side-lines but I had evaded being a Visual Artist or even be a Fine Arts graduate and really chose the Accountancy profession. I never thought that I’d pursue visual arts after corporate world work as an Accountancy graduate and professional who has earned even a Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A.). And yet, here I am working 100% as a visual artist turned Art Maestro and Art Master for quite a couple of years now. . . . and also named and hailed also by the President of my country as their effete artist or really just their state artist. After my retirement from being an accountant, I started as a serious scrapbooker who creates and deals with scrapbooks and scrapbook pages from 8.5 x 11 to 12 x 12 to even at times 6 x 12 scrapbook pages. It was just what I wanted after retirement that is to be a little kid again creating scrapbooks. I would delve back to one of my artisanal crafts which is to crossstitch, that is one form of needlecrafts and as my only form of needlecrafts even stitching mini tapestry- like crossstitch projects here in my country such as formal Disney character group portrait to mini craft gift items such as keychains and refrigerator magnets. I started calling myself an Artisan and a Hobbyist rolled-in-one with being a Scrapbook Artist and Scrapbooker all the same, as part of the Hobbyist title (which I heard is a name important even to Russia and to all the Craft and Hobbies Associations from the European continent to the American continent.) I said to myself, I’ll put scrapbook art as part and parcel of Fine Arts to be lauded even with prize awards from far away countries. And much to my delight, though it did took me 5 to 6 years, I did garner International Prize Awards and Premio International Awards then. A self-promise fulfilled and a National Artist for Scrapbooks if it would and would may, as I heard of my work and names’ plight in both local and international news under such endeavour to-be. I further ventured from mixed media scrapbooker to digital scrapbooker where my forte did rest on photography and my eye for design. Garnering a Contemporaries at Uffizi (an Uffizi Prize Award) with my main flora photography, really did hit the mark in my heart that I do belong even in the world of visual arts. I further wanted to beautify my scrapbook layouts that I started and incorporated painting on a few of my scrapbook

gallerym.se

gallerym.se

layouts, in wanting to learn to create my own scrapbook collection kits too digitally. Thus, I went on being a self-taught painter, creating paintings after paintings of all across mediums as my art series. These, I developed to more and more art series, where up to this date of writing, I have 4 more years to complete my art series online launches. Art series online launches as serious reason and purpose of being a visual artist, albeit an effeto master. Culinary arts is the last of visual arts that I did indulge and delve a little about. I was only about finding a new taste in food. From our regular cuisines at home, working for 4 year daily, re-cuising or really just re-inventing each known country cuisines with left-over food to do with daily. Included a role-playing as a chef and hotelier up to hotelier receptionist and also banquet hall receptionist at my worked and accredited hotels as an endorsed by my Creo by Lady Katutz (the name of my artist and art master’s page, which is my own). It all started when the first hotel I accredited prior thinking of endorsing hotels did pose a challenge for me to be or as a pastry dessert artist. And that is to create meals under each of food orders known to me. The last and main challenge was like a game of creating food under the chosen semblance of me representing my country, the Philippines, the Papaya Food Order . . . perhaps a food order to-be too. And the rest was history. What do you select your subject matter? I do think a lot and I realized I select my subject matter on what is the matter-at-hand or what is immediately in front of myself that I like best. This is how I did select subject matter by subject matter for my 8 art series complete with a counterpart 8 Illustrative art series with sub-art serieses each of the 8 main art series. My 8 main art series is only complimented by my aforementioned 8 illustrative art series. I started first with photography under flora and fauna photography, where I grew my love for postcards, creating and writing correspondences with my own postcards too. I was an active Postcrosser who loves and loved writing on postcards, sending them and receiving postcards or letters also in return randomly. I churned my first photography unto postcards with such delight and wrote on them excitedly always thinking how each postcard would be received. I became an Ambassador named Postcrossing Ambassador also representing my country 3 years after I entered Postcrossing.com. I would think of fete and events to create an art with every holiday and milestones as my own commemorative work for my Post Office too, making myself my Post Office’s Ambassador too. I would create from photography to handmade and other kinds of postcards to make them further as maxicards, where Maxicard Art is also a form of art under my own visual arts aside from being called Postal kits. My Maxicard Art helped me garner at least 2 more Premio International Awards not just for its artistic value but because of its

gallerym.se

gallerym.se

significance in the field of news and current events on/with culture and the arts. As I wanted to pronounce Artisinal value in the field of the arts, primarily to be under visual arts, I did espouse such thru crossstitch and such works unto maxicard and a maxicard art at that which is now I’m known ‘Manlilikha ng Bayan’ also in the said field of artisans, culture and the arts. In terms of painting, I have not been working on a commissioned artist way as much as most fine arts graduate do. I look at each day as a challenge to paint and never to be loaded down in gravity and weight of today’s day. Under flora and faune, my pets are my easy subject as I really wanted to even create my painting and or probably sketches unto any kind of sculpture with just my sculpture sketches to have and deal with, which nd did accord me a 2 Segnalati award had not I’ve been short on resources. How do you create one of your works/ What's unique or unusual about your technique/ process? I am a self-taught visual artist who only would take very short workshoppes and a few only to count with. My process and technique is purely driven by the want or really my want to create. There is never any specific permanent style but the want to create and to design. It is not just postcards that I create as final output but I also added under my belt, fashion art – making myself churn and churn fashion art collections and product art collections also for each of my 8 main art series with many kinds of sub-art series for each main art series. I may be inspired by colors and shadows, then sometimes by various colors or at times by monochromatic hues. Abstract, still life or portrait, it doesn’t matter as long as one likes what one does daily, either as an output, the process or as a resultant result. . . . whatever style of work one does suits you for the day. Named one of the Il Genio delle Arte, coming out with amongst an editorial art magazine spread, to Top 100 International Artist named in Fashion Art also coming out with amongst an editorial scarf spread with all of us 100 artists. From Picasso, Van Gogh, Leonardo Da Vinci, Rembrandt style is either effacing and evolving. For now, I’m purely attached with my work and indulging in the arts with my art serieses as my main purpose. A purpose-driven day and life with the arts is what I believe in and have in mind. May it be a whim but never my art is created on just a whimsy. Art styles can be whimsy bordering to whimsical but for myself with a purpose every single day. As I said, a purpose- driven life and a wonderful day creating artworks. And, artworks that work too, never just purely decorative only. As Life begets and Life is effacing nonetheless. Larissa Uvarova Ukraine

Why you start work as an artist? I like to create. I love the moments when I’m creating because I feel the strong connection with my soul, body and the Universe itself. This is my way to harmonize my soul through the creation. I really like to create abstract seascapes, using blue and light-blue, light-green colors. And as long I create I realize that I want my paintings will treat and harmonize the soul of the viewer. It’s difficult to describe but I really strongly feel that I should do it every day. End every day I improve my technique to achieve the effect of calmness and love through my artworks. I want you to rest near my painting and I want you to feel that you are in the place of energy, love, tenderness, calmness and home. My paintings transfer all of this things.

What do you select your subject matter? My painting about endless, love, harmony, tenderness, calmness, they are about something huge and full of energy. They are about God or Universe – it doesn’t matter what to choose. For me it is the same thing. I want my paintings will fill your soul with the best and you will be balanced. I just want to transform my energy and my feelings of all of this to the canvas. Because painting it’s alive thing and I believe that it can be more and more than just a painting. How do you create one of your works? What is unique or unusual about your technique/process? I create my artworks oil on canvas, sometimes I add gold pigment. I work with thin layers of paint that gives me to achieve the depth effect in my paintings. I prefer to work with the big formats of canvas like a 150x200 cm, but there are many artworks of the middle size like 100x100 cm or 120x70 cm, etc. During the creation process I care a lot about the color and forms. And I can’t stop creating till the time I will be sure that I’m OK with both of them. This is interesting process because sometimes I need to search how to achieve color and depth effect during 1-2 month. But I like it. And I like the process of searching.

gallerym.se

gallerym.se

Did you begin with this style or was it as evolution? When I decided to create paintings I was inspired by the artworks of old masters, like Raffaello Santi, Jan Vermeer. Their technique and colors inspired me a lot. So I decided to create abstract seascapes using multiplied thin layers to achieve interesting color and depth effect. So, I don’t know if my paintings are doing a revolution, but I’m sure that there are no paintings in the world as I do. So only time and researches in art sphere will let us know the answer to this question.

How would you describe your work? I really like what I do. And I think that I needed some time to realize and to accept my unique direction, I studied to listen to my soul and to transform my feelings to the canvas. And I really like my understanding and feeling of the beauty, harmony and love. So I will train my technique, listening to my soul and will continue to create beautiful paintings.

Interview with Blackwater Gallery UK

Jamie, can you tell us more about your background? What has motivated you to run a gallery? How did you decide to open a gallery? Ive been involved in a number of companies and businesses over the years and alongside began collecting Art. I reached a point in my career where I felt I needed new challenge. The gallery really stemmed from my own passion for art, as I mentioned I was an art collector for many years and Blackwater was the way I felt I could truly fulfil my passion. Why have you chosen to start your business in Cardiff? Is it a good place for contemporary art? Is it competitive? Challenging? As well as Cardiff being my ‘motherland’ I had become disillusioned with the art work Cardiff had to offer. I wanted to showcase the art of international artists that had yet to be exhibited in the city. There is a thriving art community here but I felt I wanted to approach it from a different angle. What are the advantages of your gallery, especially in the current situation? The pandemic has been incredibly challenging for all businesses, however we are very blessed to have an incredible website and our social media and marketing manager Emma has really come into her own during this time. Since we have been able to open our doors again we are able to take full advantage of being on the water front. Our interior is also completely unique to any gallery’s in our city. We combine clean lines with the textured industrial nature of the bay and its history in Cardiff.

gallerym.se

What has been the most exciting moment in your gallery career so far? The build up to opening Blackwater took over 2 years, from sourcing artist by traveling to degree shows up and down the country to the extensive building work and interior design. It really was a labour of love. Sitting back on our launch night and seeing our hard work come into fruition really has to be the pinnacle of my gallery career, thus far. How do you find your artists? We regurlary attend graduation shows as we are passionate about supporting emerging artists. We also visit art fairs and receive online submissions. What attracts collectors to the art you offer (in other words, what are your selling points)? We have a vast array of art on offer at Blackwater from acclaimed international artists too newly graduated emerging artists, I think there is ‘something for everyone’. How was the gallery able to survive in the times of Covid-19? We were very fortunate to be able to continue our sales through our website and social media platforms What are your prognoses and plans for the post-pandemic phase? We have a couple of very exciting new artists having solo shows at the gallery in the next few months. We are also looking at taking Blackwater ‘on the road’ look out for a pop up near you soon! What would be your advice to potential clients or collectors interested in purchasing their first work? Always buy with your heart, don’t worry about investment to begin with.

gallerym.se

gallerym.se

Conversely, what would be your advice to artists seeking representation by a gallery? Get your work into art fairs, use social media well. Persevere and above all believe in yourself! What are you currently focusing on? We are currently focusing on digital art and NFT as the new art revolution. We feel at Blackwater it is imperative to remain current and moving into the Digital market seems like the logical next step for us. To finish up, what are your hopes for the future of the gallery? As previously mentioned I am passionate about supporting emerging artists its a dream of mine to use the gallery as a platform to mentor new artists as they begin their journey. I would love Blackwater to be respected and viewed as a groundbreaking gallery. www.blackwatergallery.co.uk/

Why did you start to work as an artist? It was more of a coincidence that I found art, or art found me. I had a friend that thought painting would be a relaxing and therapeutic thing to do and so he bought all the equipment, canvas, paints, easel, paint brushes. When he had sat there for about an hour looking onto the blank canvas, he said, this is not very relaxing and my mind is as blank as the canvas. Since we had bought all the equipment, I thought I would give it a go. I found an old picture of a Picasso painting and tried my best to copy it. It went surprisingly well and I was quite surprised to find that I really enjoyed doing it. That is where my carrier started, first by copying other painters or photos, then little by little starting to let go and experimenting with different styles to find my own. I find it truly amazing that this passion in life and something that is so clearly meant for me, was discovered by pure coincidence. I can spend hour after hour painting and never get tired of it or empty of ideas.

gallerym.se

How do you select your subject matter? It always depends. If I paint pop art, I always have a plan in mind. I start with the background and then draw the chosen subject in front. When I do my more abstract paintings I don’t really have a subject. It often becomes something completely different to what I had originally thought. I try to let the painting lead the way. How do you create one of your works / What is unique or unusual about you technique / process? I alway start with the background and work in layers. That is what is so wonderful about art. If you are not happy with it, you can just keep changing it until it works, I never finish any of my paintings until I’m completely happy with it. Sometimes I put a painting aside for some time and then bring it back out and add new touches to it, until Im completely happy with the end result. In fact, I fall in love with all of my creations, which makes it hard for me to part with them. I use a lot of colors and patterns, I create very colorful and happy paintings, which is a reflection of me I think. I try sometimes too make less colorful pieces but normally end up adding colour anyway. It's really difficult for me to paint with dull colors or in black and whites. I also use old

gallerym.se

gallerym.se

posters, serviettes, spray paint, stencils and and different markers. I love imperfection and chaos.

Did you begin with this style or was it an evolution? It has definitely been an evolution. Like I said, I started by copying others and then went through a very naive stage, with almost child like art and did a lot of abstract portraits. I think the hardest part for most people is to let yourself go and not to worry about the result. Its not meant to be perfect. I think that it is impossible not to develop and change your style through time. Even if I am very happy with a certain style, I always feel like I have to move on and try new things and develop different styles. You can always venture back to the same style but you will always bring something new to the table. It is impossible to recreate what you have already done, its unique and you have to move on to the next unique piece. How would you describe your work? Colorful, Dynamic, Happy, Expressionate, Chaotic.

gallerym.se

gallerym.se

Do you learn from criticism of your work? Yes of course. I would love to hear what people have to say about my art. As soon as you start showing your work, you put yourself out there for criticism and in the beginning its quite nerve wrecking. I have not had very much said to my face, but many years ago an interior designer came to my house and looked at one of my pop art paintings and asked if it was my daughters. I thought to myself, maybe I should move one to less naive art. I have had my art called tribal, like something you would buy on the streets on holiday in Australia, which definitely made me think about how to avoid that in my next paintings. But the most amazing thing for me have been these competitions that you can join and when you first realise that there are actual art critics out there that will pick your art because they think its interesting, good or different. When you win that prize for the first time, like i won this competition that I randomly joined, to exhibit my work in New York. That is was a big moment in my art career. To know that its not just my friends and family that like my art.

How has social media affected your work? I am really bad with social media and Im not very good at selling myself. I love to paint and that is what I spend my time doing. I think that I need to get someone to do that side of it for me. I have so many art galleries that approach me but they all want money up front and its quite difficult to know who to trust. I have had great results from joining art competitions where it has taken me to cities like New York, Vienna, but I have also won prices to exhibit where I was not contacted in the end and it never became anything. For awareness though, among other artists and in the artist world, I think social media is a great tool, an excellent way to connect with the world.

What is your future plan? Im going to keep painting! I have a solo exhibition coming up in Luxembourg soon so I have a lot to prepare for that. Im looking to always develop and try out new things. I hope that people will continue to like my art and that I can bring some happiness into peoples homes.

Why you start work has an artist?

My art is based on passion and it enables me to release energy. I have loved modern art since childhood, especially abstract and impressionism. I used to paint as a teenager, many years ago, but my style was scoffed at. The energy release as an older person, in such a fulfilling way, causes me great joy. I now disregard the naysayers. What do you select your subject matter? I have no preconceived idea of what I am going to paint before I start. I have noticed that every one of my paintings, starts in the top, left hand corner and moves from there. Many of these eary strokes are gestural with the intuitive inspiration following. My design knowledge takes over towards the end.

gallerym.se

gallerym.se

How do you create one of your works/What's unique or unusual about your technique/ process? Every painting that I do is different. My style varies depending on mood. So it's hard to discuss technique when there is such variation. I start with gesso or spray paint. I love collage, so sometimes use this - scraps of paper, tissue, old paintings torn and placed in a painting or pages from an old book. I often finish a work with oil and cold wax for a greater intensity of colour. I love inks with alcohol and love oil sticks. But most of my works these days has charcoal in them. Each work is finished with varnish.

gallerym.se

Did you begin with this style or was it an evolution? My style is very inconsistent. But each progression is based on learnt knowledge through rapid experience. I'm a prolific worker. The ideas and inspiration are rapid. My artistic ability is also evident in my landscape design business where I am the designer of nearly 30 years.

How would you describe your work? 5. My work is eclectic, imperfect, unrefined to the point of crude of technique. My design love is imperfection, so I make a point of exaggerating this for impact. I also often paint the wide canvas edges with a contrasting design for even greater impact. Colour is my strongest feature, with many of my palettes using discordant colours to add drama. I prefer contrasting colours than harmonious - it's a significant part of my artistic style.

ALISON APLIN BIO Once hampered by the ‘oldie’ title, Alison now eagerly embraces this title, as age depicts a life lived and experiences learned. Alison works as the designer in her highly awarded design and landscaping business. As a self-taught artist, Alison has used her design skills to artfully create true, expressionist abstract artworks. Colour is Alison’s strong point, while the juxtaposition of shapes and lines, often geometric, enhance the movement within every work. Many works have considerable depth, from multi-layering. Her mediums are most often mixed, finishing with oils. Alison is unfortunately not a big seller – her sales have been spasmodic but the interest is high. Singulart, Plogix, a collaboration between the Van Gogh Gallery and the Paris Cont. Art Fair, Mads Milano, Kreta Event and so on have been experiences, but support for Alison in Australia has been limited based on a comment that her work is ‘unrefined’. This is the attitude of far too many gallery and competition curators in Australia. As a self-taught artist, basing her work on her own self-taught landscape design, Alison is years ahead in her approach to abstract art in Australia. And she is a female……… a difficulty in Australia. Living in regional Victoria, Australia, she has been actively painting since 2008, having loved modern art since childhood. Hers is a highly conservative regional area hence the difficulty gaining acceptance with her art. Fortunately through IG, Alison’s work has found favour internationally, through especially Singulart, since April ’21. Since being hacked and banned from IG and FB, she has had to restart both of these social media accounts since late August. Alison is very aware in both her landscape design business, and her art, that in nature, nothing is perfect, so follows the tradition at all times of the wabi-sabi way of viewing and creating works of art. With this knowledge comes an enormous appreciation for things that look different, lines that don’t quite line up, squares that are imperfect……crude works in fact.

Why did you start to work as an artist? Why? ...that is a good question. Because an artist's job is not very sustainable (to be honest) so definitely it is not for profit, then I assume it must be love. In my case it is much deeper. I feel that I need to paint. It is simply a part of me: to paint, to create. I had to put my painting on pause a few times in my life and I felt really incomplete. Today, if I have to take a break for a month or two it affects me emotionally and mentally. I am probably addicted to painting, which is funny but also good because this is my profession. Of course, it happened back realized that boost for me.

starts when someone notices your work. For me, this in primary school. Since then my life has changed. I I can do some stuff that others can’t. This was a huge I built my confidence in life based on this fact.

What do you select for your subject matter? Almost always my subject is abstract. It varies from just an emotion or a state of mind to a mathematical rule, languages or research in theoretical physics. I am always interested in theory, no matter if it comes from psychology, philosophy, color theory or spiritual process - I just love to contemplate about it and to turn it to visual art in my own way that will possibly make someone think or feel. When it comes to inspiration - inspiration always comes from nature. I love to see combinations of colors that nature creates and to remember it so I can build my color palette around it.

How do you create one of your works / What's unique or unusual about your technique / process? Techniques are very different: I use acrylic, spray paint, stencils, stains, ropes, sticks, markers, pencils, but what I see as unique is that I use anything that will allow me to move away from the classical way of painting with brush and brush strokes. I used to paint in an expressionistic manner with a very rich color palette. Today I love to challenge myself by using a very limited number of colors or limited visual elements. I love to combine gestural with almost like mechanical lines or shapes, to combine accidental spills and imperfections with planned structures, hard edge contrasts and geometry. If we speak about my process, I can say that thinking and contemplating over the canvas takes most of my time and the painting itself is much shorter. Sometimes I could plan my next artwork for days but when I finally start, it turns out quite different from what I want or what I feel, so I have to sit in front of it and to think it over. On many occasions painting will take the lead and I will follow. I guess you hear that a lot from artists.

Why you start work has an artist? Since childhood, I had a desire to devote myself either to music or the fine arts. And I chose the latter. Music has remained my hobby. What do you select your subject matter? For me, any subject can unexpectedly suggest a new topic. In addition, I have several main themes that I constantly return to, but at a new stage. How do you create one of your works/What's unique or unusual about your technique/ process? I am writing several works at once. My technique and themes have changed many times throughout my career. There were at least 8 periods. I work in the technique of oil, acrylic, pastel, gouache and watercolors, as well as mixed media, and each requires an absolutely different approach. Did you begin with this style or was it an evolution? In this way I am constantly evolving.

Why you start work has an artist? Even as 7 year old child I was able to produce very good pictures on paper with tempera colors. Then the director of the primary school exempted me from lessons for the whole year. I had only to paint. What do you select your subject matter? For me, it`s like in famous painting by Paul Klee "Haupt und Nebenwege"(Main and byways). The subject often depends on the technique. I have tried out some strong temples like "head" several times over decades in different techniques and formats on paper, canvas and wood. How do you create one of your works/What's unique or unusual about your technique/ process? The pictures I paint develop very differently. In plein air, for example, I have to paint fully coherent and fast. Here I "rush" onto the canvas with full risk. The picture has to be finished in 2 to 3 hours. The muse is no longer sitting on your arm. And after this "performance painting" due to strength decreases. For me, with one brushstroke, I capture the shape, texture and color. This is only possible when you have painted thousands of picture. This certainty, which often seems so easy, has a solid reason. You could say that I have my own painting language, my own style.

HELLA RIDDER Biography: Born 1974 in Daun/Eifel and discovered as a teenager, Hella received individual support at an early stage and was accompanied in her personal development by the German artist H. Rötter until around 2001. The artist turned to abstract painting as an emotionally and intuitively guided means of expression during this first creative period. On the solid foundation of artistic training, an individual style and ductus developed quickly, which is geared towards the continuous development of new forms of expression and experiences with the aim of a constant change in artistic creation in abstraction. After spending some years in Istanbul, Rheinbreitbach and Bonn, the artist now lives in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany

Artist́s statement: To me the abstract landscape as the individual's ability to turn to the souĺs inner light was the first starting point for artistic considerations. Out of this developed my curiosity about the penetration of emotional states and experiences to which the individual is exposed in the constant confrontation with his environment. To give this emotional being an intuitive expression and to give the viewer access to this respective emotional state in a magical moment of interaction with the work of art and thus a deep penetration of their own individuality is currently the creative drive and inspiration of mine. 5th Art Magazine/Hella Ridder 1. Why did you start working as an artist? Studying landscape, harmony, proportions by taking photos lead to aiming at a deeper understanding of composition. Fascinated by those images, that we as observers consider attractive, resulted in some first footsteps of mine into the wide and unknown world of painting. In the beginning I used watercolors gifted by my granny, and somewhat later got my first instructions by my grandfather, who had been a studied artist himself. I then got myself be taken away by colors and playing with them. At the age of sixteen I took part in my first group-exhibition, already painting my first abstract pictures. Some of these first tries got the attention of the German artist H. Rötter, who then accompanied my personal development as an artist until around 2001. 2. What do you select your subject matter from? The abstract landscape as the individual's ability to turn to the souĺs inner light was my starting point for artistic considerations. Out of this developed my curiosity about the penetration of emotional states and experiences to which the individual is exposed in the constant confrontation with his environment. To give this emotional being an intuitive expression and to give the viewers access to this respective emotional state in a magical moment of interaction with the work of art and thus a deep understanding of their own individuality is currently the creative drive and inspiration of mine. 3. How do you create one of your works/What's unique or unusual about your technique/ process? I don`t think that there is something unique or unusual about my technique or my painting process. But at the same time I am convinced, that this isn`t what is needed for the painting to be very special and touching to the observer. The uniqueness of the painting is a quality that mostly arises from my personality as an artist, from the message I am able to deliver with my paintings, from my ability to create a link between painting and observer. Therefore my painting process is nothing out of the ordinary... I start by choosing size an coloring, doing a background and then move on in many layers, until finally I judge the result to be a composition, that’s in true balance of colors, structure and ductus while at the same time is filled by a spirit of emotions that may create this special link between painting and observer, that I aim for.

It is about visualizing emotional status, it is about us as emotional beings, telling this tale of humankind in a language of abstraction
