YouTube Content Creators Ages 8 -16
Find your voice and leave your mark on the world! Whether you are six or sixteen, it’s time to start a career as the next YouTube star. Explore the variety of content and personalities that exist on YouTube and how to find your own niche. Learn the Dos and Don’ts of the platform and how to practice good digital citizenship. Develop your on-camera presence, your own channel branding, and professional editing skills. Take home a plan for launching your own channel with the content created in class! Student projects will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Beats and Jams: Digital Music Creators Ages 8 -16
Begin your rise to the top of the charts with digital music production! Just like today’s top artists, you can design your own beats or remix a mashup of your favorite songs to become a digital composer and sound engineer. In this course, students will learn to produce digital music, record sound, make sound effects, and mix their own tracks. No prior music experience is necessary. Student-created soundtracks will be available on a password-protected website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Minecraft Modders Ages 8 -16
Customize your own Minecraft world and mod the classic game in this one-of-a-kind class. Learn scripting and logic statements as you create your first mods. Students will create a wide variety of new elements, gameplay mechanics, and world-generating mods to change the way you play Minecraft. Projects will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students must have the Java version of Minecraft to take this class. Tablet, phone, and game console versions of Minecraft are not compatible. Returning students can create more advanced projects that build on previous years. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Roblox Coders Ages 8 -16
Discover the Lua coding language while designing experiences in ROBLOX®, an online universe where you can create anything you dream of. This class combines game design concepts, coding, and fun! New developers will learn to use Roblox’s Studio software to re-imagine the popular game genres with your own custom code! Student-created games will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Do you like to figure out how things work? Do you like to create, design, or solve problems?
You could be an engineer. What kind of engineer? Well, during this four-day course, you will discover different types of engineering. Those that use scientific principles to design and build machines, structures, and other items, including bridges, solar power, and buildings. This course discusses sustainability, physics, and a little ice cream. Come discover the engineer in you!

Everyone beware: A mad scientist is on the loose at Galveston College Kids’ College. Students will perform a variety of fun and interactive experiments learning chemistry’s basic and applied foundations while delving into topics like chemical bonds and learn about biological manipulation. Come discover the wonderful world of science!

BLAST! Babysitter Lessons and Safety
Training provides pediatric first aid, household safety, and the fundamentals of childcare. This course includes CPR certification, current practices for safety and injury prevention, first aid basics, quick reference tools, and more. This course will prepare you to provide safe, high-quality child care. The CPR certification and the book are included in the cost.

Do you like to help out in the kitchen? Do you want to know how to cook for yourself or your family? Let us introduce you to the fundamentals of cooking in this fun and exploratory course. Join us for a course designed to both challenge and inspire students our kids’ cooking classes are designed for ages 8–16. Our instructor is an actual chef who will give each student hands-on experience. The student will eat their creations and bring home recipes and maybe some leftovers!

Cosmetology - Hair Braiding Ages 8 -16
This is an exciting hands-on workshop that breaks down popular braids into just a few easy steps. Are you dreaming of being able to braid your hair or another person’s hair with or without extensions?
Our instructor will demonstrate and follow by a practice portion where students will try out what they’ve learned. We will focus on the steps to master a handful of popular cornrows, single braids, and design braids. Lessons are easy to learn on up-to-date techniques for all current and past styles. Hands-on personal attention. Specialize in training on models or mannequins with an instructor with a proven track record. 3-Hour classes receive a certificate of completion for each class completed.

SUMMER KIDS’ CAMP
Splash into a summer of fun, exciting and inspirational learning experiences for kids ages 8-16. Offering something for every interest - from cooking to computers, crafts to chemistry, digital creator to engineering. With morning and afternoon sessions over four weeks, there’s plenty of options to keep your inquisitive kid engaged all summer long!
