HTER COMPANY Hofesh Shechter presents his highly anticipated new work Political Mother, the first full–length piece for his internationally renowned company since he exploded onto the world stage to huge acclaim with Uprising/In Your Rooms. Political Mother brims with Shechter’s emotional and gritty complexity, powerful percussive grooves and a raw and honest physicality. Performed by ten dancers, the work is accompanied by Shechter’s own cinematic score featuring a live band. Shechter and his young and talented dance company have firmly established themselves as a leading force in international dance, and the overwhelming response to his work has singled him out as one of the most exciting artists to emerge in recent years.

BRISTOL OLD VIC AND SATTF
UNCLE BY ANTON CHEKHOV DIRECTED BY ANDREW HILTON Uncle Vanya is a moving and often very funny portrait of a family trapped in broken ambition. Jealousy and passion simmer around the samovar, but little changes, even when tempers flare and shots are fired. An exciting collaboration between two of Bristol’s leading theatre companies, the Bristol Old Vic and Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory, (SATTF), Andrew Hilton directs the Russian classic Uncle Vanya, Chekhov’s masterpiece of human emotion and desire. Set in a crumbling Russian estate, run by Vanya and his niece Sonya, the arrival of Vanya’s brother–in–law and his beautiful second wife throws their lives into disarray.

OPE WALSH D BY MIKEL MURFI
CAST Niall Buggy, Denis Conway, Tadhg Murphy, Karl Shiels and Olga Wehrly. I never thought I’d have the backbone for suicide but faced now with the likelihood of watching my own backbone being removed and flung onto that barbecue, I think it’s only fair that I should give suicide a shot. A shot we can’t do… we have knives though.
“Walsh is a writer whose every line swaggers with imagination, humour, toughness or all three.” The Times
It's 11.30am and already it's 33 degrees Celsius. At the bottom of a drained swimming pool, four ridiculous men face their inevitable deaths, and play for an unwinnable love. Druid’s previous partnerships with Enda Walsh (Edinburgh Fringe First winners The Walworth Farce and The New Electric Ballroom) have led to sell–out runs in six countries worldwide, wowing critics and audiences alike.

U.S.A. March 20, 2003. A date that the ordinary people of Iraq will never forget. A day that changed their lives forever. In June 2008, the award–winning creators of The Exonerated travelled to Jordan to find out firsthand what happened to the Iraqi civilians who fled in the wake of the Iraq War. Blank and Jensen interviewed some 35 people – a cross–section of lives interrupted – who fled the chaos and violence that befell Iraqi society for the relative safety of Jordan. Following the visit to Amman, these encounters were crafted into an unforgettable and highly acclaimed play.

They have now agreed to be interviewed about their flamboyant and shameless past, much to the irritation of their faithful and equally ancient retainers, Margaret and Brigid, who are also twins. FAILTE CHUIG FEILE EALAION NA GAILLIMHE Tá áthas orainn fáilte a chur romhat chuig ár gcathair álainn agus chuig an 33 Féile Ealaíon na Gaillimhe. Ón 12–25 Iúil, táimid ag súil le fáilte a chur roimh ealaíontóirí agus roimh chomhlachtaí as Éirinn agus ar fud an domhain agus iad a chur i láthair ar stáitsí, in ionaid éagsúla agus ar ghailearaithe na Gaillimhe. I mbliana, tá os cionn 500 ealaíontóir ag glacadh páirt sa bhFéile. Beidh ealaíontóirí agus taibheoirí ón Astráil, ó Mheiriceá agus ón Eoraip ag glacadh páirte le sár–ealaíontóirí na hÉireann chun draíocht agus cuimhní a chruthú a bheas mar bhunús le Féile Ealaíon na Gaillimhe 2010.
