Cillian Murphy in
Misterman Written and Directed by
Enda Walsh Thomas is on a journey. Where did it begin? What voices does he hear? And what will they tell him to do? Cillian Murphy makes his eagerly–awaited return to the stage in a dark, dangerous and blisteringly funny tale of one man and his judgement day. Enda Walsh directs an electrifying new version of his devastating play. The production reunites two major stars for the first time since their collaboration with Walsh’s groundbreaking Disco Pigs fifteen years ago. They are joined by a world–class creative team: the production is designed by Jamie Vartan, with lighting by Adam Silverman and sound design by Gregory Clarke, and features the world premiere of a specially–commissioned score by Donnacha Dennehy.

ENGLAND The Comedy of Errors is Shakespeare’s most farcical comedy, and also his smartest. Two sets of estranged twins, separated at birth, find themselves in the same city 25 years later with hilarious consequences. A series of mistaken identities, assumed personas, and wild mishaps bring a family crisis into heart–warming focus. Fortunately the audience is always one step ahead.

ENGLAND
“It could have been politicians or old men, an orchestra or ballet or something old like that but it wasn’t. It was pop music. Young people, like us, dressed up as they want. Things are changing every day at the moment.” June 25, 1967. The night The Beatles sang All You Need Is Love, the first live global TV event, and Kenneth and Sandra know the world is changing. And they want some of it. Olivier Award–winning playwright Mike Bartlett’s ferociously funny new play Love, Love, Love takes on the baby boomer generation as it retires, and finds it full of trouble. Smoking, drinking, ambitious and paranoid, one couple’s forty–year journey from initial burst to full bloom. A head–rush of pure comic catharsis.

Propeller
Richard III By William Shakespeare Directed by Edward Hall
Richard III brings the War of the Roses cycle of history plays to a close in bloody fashion. Arguably Shakespeare’s most villainous King, we watch in horror and delight as Richard murders his way to the throne, unable to resist his cruel wit and dark humour. One of the greatest political plays, this is a hugely entertaining and diabolical adventure that tells the story of one man’s journey to heaven, then back to hell.

Green Part 1 Aideen Barry
AIDEEN BARRY
POSSESSION A new work specially created for Galway Arts Festival 2011. Visual artist Aideen Barry presents a number of drawing vignettes to accompany a new performative film Possession. Barry explores the notion of the contemporary haunted. Possession responds to the notion of being possessed or haunted in some way. Her protagonist is a creature that reflects cognitive dissonance, a housewife who succumbs to a morbid set of circumstances. Trapped in a modern House of Usher, the character responds to her environment, her appliances, her household obligations through absurd gestures that defy reality, and darkly humorous phenomenological reasoning, that plays on our perceptions of the everyday experience of modern living.

CHARLES LAMB
LAMB IN CONNEMARA Many people mistakenly believe that Charles Lamb was from Connemara, because so much of his work is associated with the West of Ireland, when in reality the painter came from Northern Ireland. The Irish writer Pádraic O’Conaire first encouraged Lamb to paint the unspoilt landscape and simple lifestyle of the West of Ireland. This exhibition examines Lamb’s relationship with Connemara, the people and the landscape which provided great subject matter for his paintings.

Throughout her career, the underlying theme of Jay Murphy’s work has been the relationship between man and nature, maintenance and the wild, balance and conflict. Hydro takes as its visual starting point and inspiration the 1925 Ardnacrusha Hydroelectric Scheme which transformed Ireland, bringing electricity to farms and rural homes.
