In2019,Amber“Baz”VogtsandMatthewWilder,ownersofvideoproduction companyFatHappyMedia,wentwayoutsideoutoftheboxfortheirone-of-a-kind wedding.Tosetthetone,theirthemewas“Beastvs Bot” anodtogrowingupinthe ’90swiththeriseoftechnology andeveryoneworecostumes.
“Therewerealotoffuntakesonanimals,”Vogtssays “Wehadonepersondressed upasacat,andtheycalledthemselvesPusscasoanddidalivedrawingofusduringthe ceremony.”
VogtswentwithapowderbluetopandflarepantssetbyNewOrleansdesigner DenisioTruitt,completewithamatchingcapeandgoldheadpiece.Sheknewshe didn’twanttowearadress,andshe’dlongbeenfascinatedwiththepowderbluesuit
ColinFelsmanandAlyNeelcelebratedtheirmarriageinNovember2022afterhavingacourthouse weddingin2021duetotheCOVID-19pandemic.

Theyheldtheceremony,witharound80people,intheirneighborhoodat thestopsignatNorthVillereandGovernorNichollsstreets,andsecondlined toArtsEstuaryafterwardwithneighborsjoiningin.
Atthereception,theyhadatalentshowwhereguestssigneduptoperform beforehand.ButVogtsandWilderhadatrickuptheirsleeves:Theyhired singerandstand-upcomedianAmberMartintoposeasVogts’distantfamily memberwhoshowedupupsetshewasn’tinvited.Shethenproceededto blowawayeveryonebybeltingoutWhitneyHouston’s“IWillAlwaysLove You”atthetalentshow.

EventhecommunicationsforVogtsandWilder’sweddingwereunorthodox.TheysentoutaCraigslistadastheSavetheDateandaVHStapeastheir invite.TheyhadpeoplesigntheirguestbookinadocumentonanoldiMacG5 circa2004—although,theyaren’tsureifthey’lleverfigureouthowtogetthe signaturesoffthecomputer.
Thougheachcoupletookdifferentapproachestotheirspecialdays,both ditchedthescriptandcreatedaweddingthatsuitedthem.
