Our Mission
6
The core of the Louisiana SPCA’s mission is to bring and keep people and pets together. As the only open admission shelter serving Orleans Parish we take in all animals in need, regardless of breed, temperament or medical status and are committed to serving the needs of people and animals in Plaquemines Parish. For each of the 6,000 animals that comes through our doors, our goal is to give them the care needed to find a loving family to care for them long after they leave our shelters. Once they are adopted, we do everything we can to keep their family together, and help those families who don’t adopt from us, too. Through our food pantry we are able to feed nearly 1,900 pets yearly and provide affordable and accessible veterinary care to close to 15,000 animals at our Community Clinic from various parishes across Southeast Louisiana.
Ways to Give YOU can make the difference in an animal’s life! Give today, become a Monthly Hero or give in honor of a friend or their pet at www.louisianaspca.org/gambit.
Ways to Volunteer Our work wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated volunteers helping the 400+ animals in our daily care. Visit www.louisianaspca.org/volunteer for more information. Our foster program gives animals a loving home to heal. We give you everything the animal will need for their stay with you. Sign up at www.louisianaspca.org/foster.

New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic & Assistance Foundation
Our Legacy Gospel artist and NOMC Patient Detroit Brooks wrote a NOMC benefit hymn in honor of the 25th Anniversary of NOMC. It brought to mind the power of resilience in our cultural community, when knocked down by life - violence, unrest, lack of access to affordable housing and healthcare - chooses to resist and persist, moving forward, trusting, and believing.

Our Mission
18
Louisiana is a magical place. But for decades, our coast has been washing away; about 2,000 square miles of coastal wetlands have vanished in less than a century, threatening our future along the coast. Fortunately, we have solutions. The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana’s mission is to unite people in action to achieve a thriving, sustainable Louisiana coast for all. We operate one of the nation’s largest oyster shell recycling programs, partnering with restaurants to return the shell to the water to slow erosion and create habitat for new oysters. With volunteers, we plant grasses and trees from one side of our coast to the other, anchoring our fragile soil. We train the next generation of advocates through our Future Coastal Leaders program. We also advocate for science-based policies and projects that will create new land and sustain existing land.

Did you know that 1 in 15 US children experience intimate partner violence annually? Nearly 2/3 of US adults experienced at least 1 adverse childhood experience before age 18, while 1 in 6 experienced 4 or more. With each experience comes greater chances of negative life-long outcomes. Camp HOPE America provides year-round camping and mentorship for kids impacted by domestic and sexual abuse.

Our Mission Formally known as the Cancer Association of Greater New Orleans (CAGNO), the Cancer Association programs support Louisiana cancer patients by funding necessities crucial to their healing and improving their quality of life. Since 1959, CALA has worked to reduce the burden of cancer for patients and their families. A diagnosis of cancer can be costly; without CALA, these services must be met by family or friends or not met at all. Providing support empowers patients to continue on their path to recovery.

Since 2009, the Threadhead Cultural Foundation has been supporting our regional arts through grants and assistance to musicians, artists, and others whose work is in the tradition of preserving, promoting, and disseminating the cultural heritage of New Orleans and southeast Louisiana. We raise funds via memberships, events, and donations. As an all-volunteer group, all these funds are distributed yearly in the Fall via a grant process. We update our world-wide music-loving supporters on funded projects via our website and social media.
