Help make wishes come true for Wisconsin children this holiday season.
Reece is a funny, outgoing eightyear-old boy from Clintonville who was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma, a cancer that affects the bones and soft tissue. Reece has had to undergo surgery, radiation, chemotherapy and countless CT scans, blood tests, IV insertions and hospital stays to destroy the cancer cells. His treatment ended last spring and since then has been in remission. Reece started third grade in September. His favorite things to do include spending time with his mom, dad and little brother and being outdoors, especially fishing. He loves playing football and other sports with his friends. The Green Bay Packers
are, of course, his favorite team! He has a passion for remote control cars and also has an artistic side. He loves to draw and color when he can’t be outdoors.
When Reece learned that he qualified for a wish with Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, he decided that more than anything, he wanted to take a family vacation to Florida! He will have the chance to visit his favorite theme parks and spend a day deep sea fishing! Reece and his family will stay at a special place called Give Kids The World Village which was created exclusively to host wish families traveling to Orlando. He imagines himself playing outside at the theme parks all day long and reeling in a big fish! His whole family will have the chance to reconnect and build stronger bonds far away from doctors, hospitals and the constant worries that accompany a life-threatening childhood illness.
A wish experience can be a game-changer for a child with a life-threatening medical condition. This one belief guides Make-A-Wish® in everything they do. It inspires them to grant wishes that change the lives of the kids they serve. It drives them to make their donated resources go as far as possible. Most of all, it’s the founding principle of their vision to grant the wish of every eligible child. Gold is the national color for pediatric cancer and September is the recognized National Childhood Cancer Awareness month; together they make Gold in September (G9). G9 is dedicated to increasing funding for childhood cancer research and initiatives by growing awareness that inspires action to help every child, everywhere. G9 directly funds Early Phase Trials, bringing the newest, most promising treatments to kids faster. The Epilepsy Foundation is proud to announce Green Bay quarterback Brett Hundley is officially an Athletes vs Epilepsy ambassador. The Epilepsy Foundation’s Athletes vs Epilepsy initiative is a nationwide program for athletes, coaches, volunteers, and fans to support new therapies and research for people with epilepsy. The initiative brings awareness in all sports through participation by athletes of all ages and skill levels as well as their supportive friends, family, and fans.
