“Everyone knows someone impacted by cancer,” said James Weese, MD, FACS, Vice President of Aurora Cancer Care. “As the largest provider of cancer care services in Wisconsin, programs like Cancer Knows No Borders® can go a long way in bringing hope to patients and their families. Through the collaborative efforts of this initiative, we’re able to advance research and treatment options to help people across the state. We’re thrilled to be a part of the campaign.”

Cancer Knows No Borders®, brings this unique, bi-state effort to life to raise funds that will benefit non-profit organizations funding cancer research and helping families battling the disease. The campaign will tell the stories of our friends, neighbors and family members to demonstrate that those affected by this disease are more than cancer. By sharing their stories they hope to raise awareness and promote healthy lifestyles. Each week for 16 weeks we will tell the stories of two individuals that were faced with a cancer diagnoses, one from Wisconsin and one from Illinois. While the details in diagnosis and treatment may be different, the determination and will to strike out cancer exists in each of the participants you will meet. Cancer doesn’t stop at national, state or local boundaries. Fortunately, neither does cancer research, outreach, nor volunteer funding. Anthony Rizzo, Chicago’s first baseman and cancer survivor, will raise funds on behalf of his Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation cancer

The Cancer Knows No Borders initiative aligns well with what we are trying to accomplish and the dollars raised help fuel our work. Your donations allow us to do the behind-the-scenes work so families affected by cancer can focus on what’s important during treatment, staying strong and keeping the faith. Chicago World Champion and Cancer Survivor “Cancer has affected our family. My grandmother fought it, and we lost my wives’ cousin to Sarcoma at a young age. Cancer is so rampant these days, anybody can get it, anytime.
