How far can you take your research at Gannon? Maybe into the pages of a national journal, on the list of registered patent owners, or to competitions across the country. Your research might take you 30 feet below the surface of the Caribbean Sea to observe marine organisms and coral reefs, 4,000 years into the past at an archaeological dig in Jordan, or to the field to develop NASA mission-related instruments for near-space exploration. The College of Engineering and Business is driving innovation for the future within the Institute for Health and Cyber Knowledge. Here, students and businesses work together to fight real-world cybersecurity threats while using cutting-edge technology. Experience-based learning by collaboration with community partners is at the heart of the college’s curriculum. We’ve developed an entrepreneurial space within our Center for Business Ingenuity to help you become a successful business owner with the aid of regional and university experts. We also have a Forensic Investigation Center led by former FBI and ATF agents, who take you from crime scene to courtroom. COMPASSIONATE AND COMMITTED MOROSKY COLLEGE OF HEALTH PROFESSIONS AND SCIENCES

The Morosky College of Health Professions and Sciences prepares you to meet the health and the needed skills of your future career. We blend classroom teaching with hands-on learning opportunities. For example, students can study natural aquatic habitats aboard our 48foot research vessel, the Environaut. Others participate in our studentrun pro bono pediatric occupational therapy or adult physical therapy clinics and conduct research alongside faculty in the laboratory, field or clinical environment. Many of these students have multiple job offers or acceptance to graduate programs to choose from before graduation.

Gannon’s athletic programs are another way for student-athletes and fans to get involved. Golden Knights and Lady Knights conquer challenges in competition and in the classroom with the strong support of our coaches, faculty and the students who gather to cheer them on.

As a Division II institution in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, Gannon offers 24 scholarshipgranting varsity sports. Gannon won the 2021-22 PSAC Dixon Trophy, which is awarded to the best athletics department in the PSAC. It is the first for one of three PSAC institutions in Erie County.

The Recreation and Wellness Center offers both fall and spring intramural sports, sport clubs and group fitness classes. All activities are designed to meet students’ athletic interests and provide a healthy and fun social atmosphere

INTRAMURAL SPORTS – Our intramural sports programs let you participate in organized activities and events - no matter your experience level. These programs provide facility use, promote competition between groups and individuals, enhance physical fitness through competitive activities, and foster a spirit of fair play and sportsmanship among participants and spectators.

SPORT CLUBS – Sport clubs are all registered student organizations and vary in level of competitiveness. Each team is run by students with the aid of on-campus faculty and staff advisers. Teams set their own practice schedules at facilities located both on and off campus and compete with club teams from other colleges and universities.

FITNESS – Group fitness classes are free for all students and accommodate everyone from first timers to experts. Our experienced instructors will ensure a positive experience for all. Classes range from 30-min to one-hour sessions and include cycle, BODYPUMPTM, yoga, Zumba, boxing and more.

PERSONAL TRAINING – Personal training lets you engage in customized training programs. Our certified personal trainers use their knowledge of fitness assessments, exercise planning and training techniques to help you reach your goals.

UNIVERSITY WELLNESS – Gannon is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for our community members by nurturing a culture of wellness through emphasis on the eight zones of wellness. As a result, our students develop healthy lifestyle behaviors that they can carry with them long past their time at Gannon.

A PLACE TO CALL HOME

Your first year at Gannon might be the first time you have lived away from home. You can rest easy when choosing your first-year housing space, because your building will be staffed by caring student affairs professionals, including a live-in resident director, live-in resident campus minister, resident assistants and community desk attendants. We’re so excited to welcome you to our communities.

North Hall is a suite-style community, housing 290 residents in two-, three-, four-, and fiveperson units with a mixture of single and double bedrooms. Each suite has a kitchenette and one or two bathrooms. The building has multiple social and study lounges, a meditation space, two laundry rooms and two full kitchens.

Finegan Hall is a traditional-style college residence hall made up of two-person double bedrooms and houses 250 students total. Residents of each wing share common restrooms with floors separated by gender. The building shares a variety of social and study lounges, a meditation space, a laundry room and a newly renovated full kitchen.

AFFINITY HOUSING PROGRAM

One of the most rewarding parts of your college experience is finding people who have the same goals and interests as you.

Affinity Housing communities offer students the opportunity to connect with other students who share similar interests. As first-year students, the communities are created around academic interests. These include students in health profession programs, the radiological sciences program, or those accepted to the Honors Program. Upper-level students are welcome to continue in these groups or propose new groups as they move on in housing.

Living in these communities offers a richer campus experience and is a great way to make your Gannon experience more transformational.

UPPER-LEVEL HOUSING

The university offers a variety of housing options for upper-level students. We have options to best suit your experience, ranging from traditional halls to suites, apartments and houses. Preferred parking is available at each building and is administered by Campus Police and Safety.

Erie, Pa. is a college town with more than 20,000 students in universities across a 20-mile radius. With small-town friendliness and big-city attractions, there is always something fun to do in Erie, and Gannon’s urban campus is at the center of it all. Not only are we located in a vibrant downtown setting and near the beautiful shores of Lake Erie, but we’re also only a two-hour drive from Cleveland, Buffalo, Pittsburgh or Niagara Falls, Canada.

The Erie Zoo and Botanical Gardens is a great way to experience the beauty of Erie during springtime. Walk or hike through Presque Isle State Park or to the home of the Erie SeaWolves baseball team. Celebrate the beginning of warm weather by exploring some local festivals including the annual Asbury Woods Maple Festival.

SUMMER

Erie comes alive during the region’s warmest months. Grab some friends and hit the beaches of Presque Isle State Park for swimming, hiking, boating, biking or fishing. Head to Waldameer Park Water World, enjoy the UPMC Sunset Music Series at Presque Isle, and catch one of the weekly street festivals downtown and at the waterfront’s Liberty Park.

Fall is Erie’s most glorious season and the perfect time to take in the beautiful foliage while hiking through a local park. Indoors, you can view local art at the Art Museum or exciting shows at the Erie Playhouse. Erie also has venues for every musical taste, including the Warner Theatre and Erie Insurance Arena.

Winter? Yeah, we have it here, and we know how to have fun with it, too. Start your Christmas shopping early at the Millcreek Mall. See future NHL stars at an Erie Otters game. Swimsuits are welcome all year long at nearby Splash Lagoon, one of the largest indoor water parks in the eastern United States. There are also many places to downhill or cross-country ski.

OFFICE OF MISSION AND MINISTRY – Guided by the wisdom of Christ, we seek to promote faith development among students, faculty and staff, celebrated in worship, supported by human community and expressed in service.

MARY, SEAT OF WISDOM CHAPEL – Join us for scheduled Mass times every Sunday at 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. and grow in your faith. Reconciliation is available a half-hour before and after Mass or by appointment.

INTERFAITH PRAYER AND MEDITATION ROOM – Gannon’s Beyer Hall offers a nondenominational prayer space to celebrate whatever your faith tradition might be and to deepen your global understanding of the world around you.

ABROAD VIA ENGAGED LEARNING

Join student groups and employee facilitators at weekly meetings throughout the academic year to build relationships, develop intercultural competence, and study topics prior to traveling to a domestic or international destination for 10-14 days after classes end in May or June. You will develop valuable transferable skills through handson learning as you research a destination, create an itinerary, execute trip fundraisers, and take on leadership within your group. The year-long experience culminates in a travel experience where you will discover increased self-awareness, encounter diverse perspectives, and cultivate meaningful relationships with your peers and facilitators.

ALTERNATIVE BREAK SERVICE TRIPS

Alternative Break Service Trips let you encounter and respond to some of the most pressing societal and global concerns of our time. Each trip is built on the foundational pillars of service, simplicity, community and reflection. Our teams of student leaders cultivate community among their small groups of student participants and faculty and staff accompaniers through relationship building, learning and meaningful dialogue prior to and during week-long trips, which occur over spring break or after classes end in May. Upon return, students are invited to bring their new energy and lessons learned back to our campus communities to create change.

offers you travel abroad program options in more than 30 countries with more in development every semester. Choose from semester exchange programs at partnering universities, faculty-led travel courses, service opportunities and more.

GIFT COURSES

One- to four-week travel experiences are available through Gannon: Inspired Facultyled Travel Courses and provide academic credit. Pursue domestic or international travel in the fall, during winter or spring break, or at the end of the spring semester. Gain firsthand experience or application of concepts learned during the course and develop your cultural competencies in a meaningful experience.

SEMESTER EXCHANGE

Pursue a semester exchange with one of Gannon’s partner universities in Australia, Chile, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand or Spain. You will pay the usual Gannon tuition, as well as room and board to the chosen university. Federal financial aid and Gannon scholarships and financial aid can be applied to the tuition bill.

INTERNATIONAL CREDIT-BEARING

INTERNSHIPS

The Office of Learning Abroad offers you credit-bearing internships around the world in partnership with CISabroad. Interview with CISabroad and be placed at the site that is related to your major and career goals. You can work with your program director to arrange for credit received through these experiences.

SUMMER STUDY ABROAD

Participate in summer study abroad options all over the world through programs offered by our partner universities or affiliate providers. Summer study abroad programs range in length from two to 12 weeks and satisfy Liberal Studies Core requirements and/or major and minor requirements.

An environment where you feel safe, healthy and confident is vital to achieving academic success. For this reason, we provide the best services possible across many areas to meet your individual needs and enable your potential.

ACADEMIC ADVISING CENTER – Learn time management, effective studying and exam strategies and obtain assistance with academic planning.

COUNSELING SERVICES – Therapists are available to provide consultations, evaluations and short-term counseling. We offer services including individual, group and couples counseling, psychiatric services, and crisis intervention.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS CENTER – Health services include prescription treatments, wound care, chronic condition support and education, and flu clinics.

ITS HELP DESK – Walk-ins, phone and online assistance are available if you have questions or issues regarding technology.

JUSTICE, EQUITY, DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION STEERING COMMITTEE – This committee focuses on long-term institutional planning as well as immediate engagement opportunities for Gannon community members in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion.

LIVESAFE APP – The LiveSafe app is a unique campus safety platform. It features a COVID-19 screening survey that connects

students directly to our Health Center nurses for care. The app is also used for emergencies, reporting suspicious activity, and scheduling Gannon’s Knight Watch van for safe rides home.

OFFICE OF DISABILITY SUPPORT SERVICES – Our caring staff will work with you individually to identify any appropriate and reasonable academic accommodations that will help you best reach your potential.

POLICE AND SAFETY – Campus police focus on crime prevention and problem solving through awareness and education to ensure the safest campus living and learning environment possible.

STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES – We offer free use of services – including peer mentoring, proactive tutoring, life coaching, and academic and career advising – through non-judgmental guidance and encouragement for academic and life-long personal success.

TUTORING SERVICES – Find academic support services and supplemental instruction in the Nash Library’s Writing and Research Center and STEM Center to help you excel in class.

APPLYING TO GANNON

At Gannon, we value each prospective student and carefully evaluate each application. It’s a good idea to apply as early as possible in your senior year. Admissions decisions are made within two to four weeks after your application is complete. Our admissions criteria include:

Grade point average;

Grades;

SAT or ACT scores (may be required for academic programs associated with professional schools; not required (test blind) for students entering all other academic programs in Fall 2023;

Personal statement;

Recommendation letters (if interested in majoring in the sciences or health professions, recommendation letter should be from a science teacher);

Courses taken.
