Continued from Pg 1 employees, lectures on environment and cleanliness by eminent speakers, waste management and waste segregation, elocution competition on ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’ and organizing awareness programme on Swachh Bharat Mission surrounding Madivala slum area by distributing dust bins. The main idea is to create an eco friendly environment. Hence the staff jointly put their hands together to clear weeds from the office premises and the quarters, waste and unserviceable materials were disposed and saplings of different species were planted in the office, quarters and hostel premises of CSB. This was the beginning of a rich and concrete contribution towards cleanliness from the staff of CSB. A road show was organized which drew a huge response – many onlookers appreciated the initiative – to bring awareness on hygiene and health and to protect environment in the best way. Placards displaying ‘Hygiene is health, ‘Cleanliness reflects your Personality’, ‘Maintain Cleanliness Keep away Diseases’, Health and Hygiene go Hand in Hand’, ‘Stop Littering’, ‘Hasiru Ulusi Naadu Belasi’ and ‘Cluttered Desk Cluttered Mind, Clean Desk Clean Mind’ filled the air
communicating the meaning of cleanliness. There are plenty of other
activities going this week. Mr. KK Shetty, Jt. Secretary
(Technical), told Garden City Plus that the programme is not merely for the fortnight as is projected, but the organisation wishes to continue this through the whole year as it serves humanity and promote cleanliness. “This also is for the farmers whom we work with in the sericulture department for them to use the silkworm litter for vermin compost. Training is given. They are told to reduce waste using solar energy and generate more production. This awareness is not only for the employees of CSB, but also the stake holders”, he said. He also added that CSB has already adopted 5 villages
and is working in close tandem with the rest also to achieve what has been targeted. Ms. Vatsala, of the Publicity department said, “The road show shall create great public response in maintaining cleanliness. Starting from our CSB office we went up to the flyover where public exposure ensured the maximum mileage for the programme. Health is the main criteria to maintain cleanliness. There are many stalls with vendors displaying different products of use in this field of activity participating in the expo, in areas of concept on composting, waste segregation, waste recycling, water conservation, clean and alternate energy”, she said.

school which started as recently in 2009, has bagged a distinction of securing 100 per cent pass percentage in this year’s SSLC examination. The students of Anikethana Public School, Hongasandra, have made the school proud by achieving this and joined the elite club of those schools which have all made it. Mr. Sridhar M, founder of the school and his wife Ms. Sujatha both share and cherish the moment congratulating the students who have made it a reality. “It is because of the strenuous efforts put in both by the teachers and the students that this could happen. They all worked hard to achieve good results and be toppers in the State. The topper of the school, Vinay G, has secured 588 marks at 94.08 per cent, while the second was

`May Day` Celebrated at Mahaveer Seasons Apartment Children of Mahaveer Seasons Apartment, 24th Main, 2nd Sec, HSR Layout, demonstrated on Labor Day (1st May), that labour has no dignity and that any kind of labour has its own respect and has to be respected. A few children of the apartment decided to show their gratitude, praise and thanks to all the staff who work in the apartment and make sure the residents live at peace and stay smooth, safe and enjoy all amenities without any issues. Five children (Atmaja, Bhavana, Eeisha, Kartik & Krishna) got together in a group and decided to say thanks and show their gratitude to all working staff (Estate Manager, Plumber, Electrician, Launderer, Security Staff, House-Keeping Staff, Gardener) in their own style and it’s a first of its kind in Mahaveer Seasons Apartment. They handled it on their own. They themselves contributed the money from their own pockets, brain-stormed themselves as what should be done on this occasion, discussed, coordinated and executed themselves without anyone else getting involved. This was a great spirit displayed and nice team work amongst them. They are the Young Leaders!! The children group talked to each of the staff members and got them gathered to Apartment Central Lawn. They conveyed their message as to why they are all gathered there as it was arranged all of sudden by them. They clearly told them that “we like to express our gratitude and thanks to
you all, without you we would not have lived peacefully in this apartment and to mark this occasion we like you to feel happy and enjoy for some time and we have arranged few games for you”. All staff members were all over-whelmed to listen to these thoughts from these young kids and Estate Manager (Mr. Thimmaiah) said that “he never got this kind of appreciation in his career of last 15 years.” This was a pleasing and confidence booster for children group. The children group made all of them to play various fun games and it could be seen that all of them were so happy to participate in these games and were very happy. They played games like Musical Chairs, Four Corners, Lemon & Spoon Race and Lagori. Once games were over, children served them light snacks and
needless to mention that it was a complete eco-friendly event arranged by them and there were no disposables and no plastics used. A Way to go Kids!! The staff was so happy and everyone expressed their happiness and blessed these kids of their efforts to bring cheers and enjoyment to all the staffs and it was indeed a great way of showing their gratitude to them. The Apartment Association (MSFOA) got so inspired by these kids and representative body of Apartment Association also announced that they will give sweets (as a Gift) to all working staffs on Labor Day. Overall, it was a good idea mooted by these children group and appreciated by all apartment inmates. A nicely coordinated team work was seen and “Yes” all these children are our country future!!

n imaginative conversation between Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Swami Vivekananda. A strong message in store. 1. Swami Vivekananda: - I can’t find free time. Life has become hectic. Ramkrishna Paramahansa: - Activity gets you busy. But productivity gets you free. 2. Swami Vivekananda: - Why has life become complicated now? Ramkrishna Paramahansa: - Stop analyzing life.. It makes it complicated. Just live it. 3. Swami Vivekananda: - Why are we then constantly unhappy? Ramkrishna Paramahansa: - Worrying has become your habit. That’s why you are not happy. 4. Swami Vivekananda: - Why do good people always suffer? Ramkrishna Paramahansa: Diamond cannot be polished without friction. Gold cannot be purified without fire. Good people go through trials, but don’t suffer. With that experience their life
becomes better, not bitter. 5. Swami Vivekananda: - You mean to say such experience is useful? Ramkrishna Paramahansa: - Yes. In every term, Experience is a hard teacher. She gives the test first and the lessons . 6. Swami Vivekananda: - Because of so many problems, we don’t know where we are heading… Ramkrishna Paramahansa: - If you look outside you will not know where you are heading. Look inside. Eyes provide sight. Heart provides the way. 7. Swami Vivekananda: - Does failure hurt more than moving in the right direction? Ramkrishna Paramahansa: - Success is a measure as decided by others. Satisfaction is a measure as decided by you.
8. Swami Vivekananda: - In tough times, how do you stay motivated? Ramkrishna Paramahansa: need to work in proper coordination or else Always look at how far you have come rather than how far you have to go. Always count your blessing, not what you are missing. 9. Swami Vivekananda: - What surprises you about people? Ramkrishna Paramahansa: - When they suffer they ask, “why me?” When they prosper, they never ask “Why me?” 10. Swami Vivekananda: - How can I get the best out of life? Ramkrishna Paramahansa: - Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear. 11. Swami Vivekananda: - One last question. Sometimes I feel my prayers are not answered. Ramkrishna Paramahansa: - There are no unanswered prayers. Keep the faith and drop the fear. Life is a mystery to solve, not a problem to resolve. Trust me. Life is wonderful if you know how to live.

New Facility To Link Aadhaar With PAN The Income Tax Department has launched a new e-facility to link a person's Aadhaar with the Permanent Account Number (PAN), a mandatory procedure for filing income tax returns (ITRs) now. The department's e-filing website incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in has created a new link on its homepage making it 'easy' to link the two unique identities of individuals. The link requires a person to punch in his or her PAN number, Aadhaar number, and the 'exact name as given in the Aadhaar card'. 'After verification from the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India), the linking will be confirmed. In case of any minor mismatch in Aadhaar name provided, Aadhaar OTP (one time password) will be required,' the department said in its advisory to taxpayers and individuals. Linking Aadhaar With PAN: What To
Do If Name On Aadhaar Does Not Match With PAN? The OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number and email of the individual. It urged them to ensure that the date of birth and gender in PAN and Aadhaar are exactly the same, to ensure linking without failure. 'There is no need to login or be registered on e-filing website (of the I-T department). This facility can be used by anyone to link their Aadhaar with PAN,' it said. The government, under the Finance Act 2017, has made it mandatory for taxpayers to quote Aadhaar or enrolment ID of Aadhaar application form for filing of income tax returns (ITR). Also, Aadhaar has been made mandatory for applying for a permanent account number with effect from July 1, 2017.

ecently, a resident while walking on the road on 24th main, near SS Palya Lake, HSR 2nd sector, noticed that there were around four men beginning to drill open the road to cut it across to the other side. On suspicion, he casually approached them to enquire about the details of the work as the road had been recently asphalted. The reply he got was that they were from BWSSB and had come there to fix and raise the height of the chamber for the road. On questioning if they had any formal approval from BBMP or BWSSB, or a contractor, for this work, he found to his dismay that they did not possess any such document with them. Instead, they started arguing with him in raised voices threateningly and taking a photo of his. Suddenly one of them started saying that if he does not speak Kannada, then they will not respond. Fortunately, a local friend of the resident came to his rescue and helped him out with the language barrier. One of them named Venkatesh called the personal assistant of Mangammanapalya Ward Corporator and insisted that the resident talk to him. The PA, when questioned about the genuinity of the work on the grounds of an approval from the civic agency, cut the call and the resident was then assured that the
men at work were quacks. He then tried calling Mr. Nagendra AE, BWSSB, and Mr. Veerabhadra Swamy, JC, but could get them online. Something had to be done quickly or else the entire hardship of getting the road asphalted after 8 years of struggle will go in vain. On calling Heeranna, Engineer, BBMP, he reacted immediately and reached the spot in less than 15 minutes with his colleagues. When he found out that there was indeed no official approval from any agency on questioning the men, he confiscated the tools and materials and asked them to come to the BBMP office and talk to obtain permission. The matter ended and the goons were not to be seen as they took to their heels. Later, Mr. Nagendra revealed that he was unaware of any such work or contract given and he will revert back. Till now there is no official news about it. The highlight of the issue here is that all civic agencies (BBMP, BWSSB, BESCOM, GGAIL, Horticulture etc) need to work in proper coordination and proper approval. Civic Agencies must respond back to volunteers if they got to update something to keep the confidence boosted for such volunteers so they can keep contributing for the betterment of society. The response from Mr. Heeranna in this case is really praise worthy.
Tips For Parents: Nurturing Child Safety Awareness
W
ith the world getting bigger by the day, the scary truth is that you’re not always going to be able to hold your little one’s hand! However much we may hope that no harm will come to our children, it is always better to teach them how to be prepared and safe. Child safety is a crucial part of their development and growth. Teaching them about safety can be a challenging feat to accomplish. To start off you have to imagine the various dangers your offspring may face which, on its own, can be a harrowing thought. But children are intuitive by nature and quick to grasp new information, so the earlier you teach them how to keep themselves safe, the more protected they will be! Make sure your child is comfortable and ready to have this conversation about safety. It is important that they don’t get afraid while you talk to them. So, make sure your tone is casual and reassuring, and not one that will instil fear in them.

Child Safety Tips For Parents Learn how to differentiate between a ‘good’ touch and a ‘bad’ touch In today’s world, with children interacting with a lot of people from a very young age, learning to understand the difference between a good touch and a bad touch is crucial for your little one. Once that differentiation has been understood, it is important that your child can approach you if they feel uncomfortable with the way they were touched. Our video ‘No Touch’ talks about how you can make your child recognize a good touch or bad touch. Take a look
at the video below, and start talking to them about their boundaries at the earliest! Safe Circle It is necessary that your child has a safe group or safe circle that they can approach whether they’re in trouble, unhappy, or just want to talk. A safe circle is the few most-trusted people in your child’s life. At KLAY, we encourage children and parents to make a ‘safe circle’ on paper using pictures of the ‘safe’ people in their child’s lives – parents, grandparents, siblings, and their teacher. No ‘Body Secrets’ Ensure your children don’t keep any ‘body secrets’- i.e. secrets about having been inappropriately touched or made to feel uncomfortable – and come straight to you, especially if someone tells them to ‘keep it a secret’, or ‘play a game and not tell mum and dad’. Having them talk about such experiences is a healthy practice that will help them cope with and process what happened, and make sure that your child safety is ensured.

Keeping the roots stronger
O
nce upon a time, there were two neighbors living next to each other. One of them was a retired teacher and another was an insurance agent who had a lot of interest in technology. Both of them had planted different plants in their garden. The retired teacher was giving a small amount of water to his plants and didn’t always give a full attention to them, while the other neighbor interested in technology, had given a lot of water to his plants and looked after them too well.
Moral Stories The retired teacher’s plants were simple but looked good. The insurance agent’s plants were much fuller and greener. One day, during the night, there was a heavy rain and a wind due to a minor storm. Next morning, both of the neighbors came out to inspect the damage to their garden. The neighbor who was an

insurance agent saw that his plants came off from the roots and were totally destroyed. But, the retired teacher’s plants were not damaged at all and were standing firm. The insurance agent neighbor was surprised to see it, he went to the retired teacher and asked, “We both grew the same plants together, I actually looked after my plants better than you did for yours, and even gave them more water. Still, my plants came off from the roots, while yours didn’t. How is that possible?” The retired teacher smiled and said, “You gave your plants more attention and water, but because of that they
didn’t need to work themselves for it. You made it easy for them. While I gave them just an adequate amount of water and let their roots search for more. And, because of that, their roots went deeper and that made their position stronger. That is why my plants survived”. Moral: This story is about parenting where children are like plants. If everything is given to them, they will not understand the hard work it takes to earn those things. They will not learn to work themselves and respect it. Sometimes it’s best to guide them instead of giving them. Teach them how to walk, but let them follow their path.

Cracked Heel Foot Salve Cream
C
racked heels can cause problems that range from minor discomfort to pain and bleeding. Cracked heels can be the result of several things: • the way a person walks • poor circulation • a skin problem like eczema or psoriasis fungal infection • nutritional deficiencies Internal Remedies for Cracked Heels • Consuming enough Zinc, Magnesium and Omega-3s in food or supplement form • Consuming Gelatin and Vitamin C which increase skin elasticity and may help reduce cracking • Optimizing fat soluble vitamins like Vitamin D (found in Fermented Cod Liver oil, supplements or from sun exposure) and Vitamin K (found in grass-fed butter or supplements). Consuming foods like bone broth and organ meats is also helpful. • Drinking enough water and consuming trace minerals External Remedies for Cracked Heels • Exfoliating with a natural pumice stone or Ped Egg (looks like a cheese grater but it works) • Soaking in detoxifying food baths or regular detox baths (here are my three favorite recipes) • Adding 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar to a warm foot soak • Using magnesium oil on the feet before bed • Using a homemade nourishing foot salve (see below) each morning and night • Using a homemade peppermint magnesium foot scrub to exfoliate feet

in the shower • ¼ cup Shea Butter • ¼ cup Coconut Oil • 3 Tablespoons Beeswax • ¼ cup Magnesium Flakes + 2 Tablespoons boiling water (Or ¼ cup of pre-made Magnesium oil, though this won’t yield as much magnesium in the final product) • 10 drops Oregano Essential Oil (Not for use during pregnancy or on children) • 10 drops Peppermint Essential Oil What to Do: 1. Pour 2 tablespoons of boiling water in to the magnesium flakes in a small container and stir until it dissolves. This will create a thick liquid. Set aside to cool. 2. In a quart size mason jar inside a small pan with 1 inch of water, combine the coconut oil, beeswax and shea butter and turn on medium heat. 3. When melted, remove the jar from the pan and let the mixture cool until room temp and slightly opaque. At this point, put in to a medium bowl or into a blender. 4. If in a bowl, use a hand blender or immersion blender on medium speed
and start blending the oil mixture. 5. Slowly (starting with a drop at a time) add the dissolved magnesium mixture to the oil mixture while continuing blending until all of the magnesium mix is added and it is well-mixed. 6. Add the oregano and peppermint essential oils if using and whip until combined. 7. Put in the fridge for 15 minutes and re-blend to get body butter consistency. 8. Store in fridge for a cooling lotion (best consistency) or at room temp for up to two months. 9. Use on cracked heels at night. Apply a thick coat and wear socks until the salve absorbs. For best results, exfoliate feet with dry skin using the pumice or Ped Egg, then do a detoxifying foot soak, let dry and apply the salve. Repeat as needed until problem resolves. Note: Do not use Oregano or Peppermint Essential Oils on children or while pregnant. As with any medical condition, check with a doctor if things don’t improve or if you have any specific concerns.
