A Stone Slab ‘Fixed’ on the Middle of the Road
A
road that was connecting Begur, Balaji layout and major part of AECS layout has now turned to be a nightmare with potholes and hollow craters caving in making movement a difficult task. Adding to the woes, sometime back, before the Temple came into existence, the road which is opposite the Temple and off 80 ft. road suddenly witnessed a big stone slab erected right in the middle of the road obstructing traffic and public movement. The obstruction is on a 30 ft road, just enough for a four wheeler to pass through comfortably. Now, while negotiating turns or even to go straight, the vehicles will have to swerve that little bit on the small pavement to move on causing great difficulty and inconvenience to the public. It has to be seen whose handiwork it is to obstruct passage of vehicles. Is there a rule to cause dangerous obstruction such as these just
to ensure some vehicles disturb peace and tranquility? Is BBMP listening? Take cognizance of the fact and ensure traffic sense prevails. Is it an offense or defense?

Several Civic Events Taking Place in HSR – a Welcome Sign Finally, it has dawned on HSR layout with several Civic events taking place at a brisk speed. A new traffic police station is thrown open to the public and its staff members to function independently. A protest against the increase in the tonnage capacity at KCDC took off and created awareness not only in HSR but the entire city to show such activities should not be allowed to function in a thickly populated neighbourhood. The Government and its agency organized an ‘Open Streets’ programme to promote use of public transport which was an instant hit with the citizens welcoming it with open arms and supporting the initiative, which was a pilot programme to test the pulse of the people. Today, the result of that programme culminated in the BMTC pressing Feeder Route services for HSR to be well connected to Silk Board and whereby to other parts of the city. Besides, it is also going to be connected to Kadugodi too. The routes to Electronics City shall also commence soon. The federation of HSR RWAs had organized a talk on the civic mess the city is facing and how the citizens’ participation is crucial in this whole exercise of eradicating the mess we are in to. There should be no dumping of garbage, wherever it could be. Instead we need to find a solution to segregate and compost ourselves. The inauguration of the bus services of the feeder routes is scheduled to take place on the 14th of November at 7 am. This is the advent of an era for promoting use of public transport. If the services are not used by the residents they do not have reason to blame the BMTC if it withdrawn. This is clear. A Diabetes campaign organized jointly by the Federation of HSR layout RWA, Dr. Govind’s Medical and Diabetes Centre and Lions and Lioness Clubs of HSR layout to collaborate with the World Diabetes Day, will start at 7 am with a awareness walk from BDA complex and culminate at Dr. Govind Diabetes Centre. Such is the speed with which HSR is going for the development. But, plenty of unfinished jobs are on hand. They too will have to be looked into. Editor - T Ramesh

Children Showcase Talent at Floretz` Sports Meet
O
n 31st October, Floretz had its 1st Sports Day at its sprawling premises which was a memorable one for its sheer grandeur and activities for the children, parents, its alumni children and staff alike. The event was different from the usual sports activities conducted in schools. The tiny tots were beaming with self confidence to perform the stretch exercises like Hoola Hoop Drill and Toffa Toffa which enhances the power of resistance of the joints by strengthening them and followed by the << Event >> Chicken Dance for body movement wholly. This was exra-ordinary and exhilarating experience to the gathering of over 700 parents and citizens who came to witness the mega event. The Parachute activity performed by the final year children left all awe-struck, since it required a lot of concentration, focus on precision movements, co-ordination and most important of them all the team work.
This was so aptly done that the parachute winged by them was a delight to watch as it opened to its full glory. These exercises were executed under the guidance of Sports Gurukul, who were training with the children throughout the year. The customary track events were later held and it was fun and frolic for
children and fun races and other activities were organized for the parents. Running races were conducted for the alumni children and their staff members. Mrs. Deepa and Mr. Ravichandran who are the brain behind the school project which has risen to such heights have done an excellent job in
conducting such an eventful programme, though it was for the first time Floret has organized a Sports Meet to this level. The management thanked Sports Gurukul, Om, Manjunath, Rajvnath and Jasmeet Kaur for their relentless work behind the scene to make the event a memorable one.
The Little Ones Remember Pandit Jawarharlal Nehru
C
hildren's Day is recognized on various days in many places around the world, to honor children globally. It was first proclaimed by the World Conference for the Well-being of Children in 1925 and then established universally in 1954 to protect an "appropriate" day. International Day for Protection of Children, is observed in many countries as Children's Day on June 1 since 1950, was established by the Women's International Democratic Federation on its congress in Moscow (22 November 1949). Major global variants include a Universal Children's Day on November 20, by United Nations recommendation. Universal Children's Day takes place annually on November 20. First proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1954, it was established to encourage all countries to institute a day, firstly to promote mutual exchange and understanding among children and secondly to initiate action to benefit and promote the welfare of the world's children.
Website: www.gardencityplus.com
This day is observed to promote the objectives outlined in the Charter and for the welfare of children. On November 20, 1958 the United Nations adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. The United Nations adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child on November 20, 1989 and can be found on the Council of Europe website. Albeit this applies to all people, the main objective is with regard to children. UNICEF is dedicated to meeting the six of eight goals that apply to the needs of children so that they are all entitled to basic rights written in the 1989 international human rights treaty. UNICEF delivers vaccines, works with policymakers for good health care and education and works exclusively to help children and protect their rights. In September 2012, the Secretary--
General Ban Ki-moon of the United Nations led the initiative for the education of children. He firstly wants every child to be able to attend school, a goal by 2015. Secondly, to improve the skillset acquired in these schools. Thirdly, implementing policies regarding education to promote peace, respect and environmental concern. Universal Children's Day is not simply a day to celebrate children for who they are, but to bring awareness to children around the globe that have succumbed to violence in forms of abuse, exploitation and discrimination. Children are used as labourers in some countries, immersed in armed conflict, living on the streets, suffering by differences be it religion, minority issues, or disabilities. Children feeling the effects of war can be displaced because of the armed conflict and/or suffer physical and psychological trauma. The following violations are described in the term "children and armed conflict": recruitment and child soldiers, killing/maiming of children, abduc-
tion of children, attacks on schools/hospitals and not allowing humanitarian access to children. Currently there are about 153 million children between the ages of 5 and 14 who are forced into child labour. The International Labour Organization in 1999 adopted the Prohibition and Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour including slavery, child prostitution and child pornography. A summary of the rights under the Convention on the Rights of the Child can be found on the UNICEF website. Canada co-chaired the World Summit for children in 1990 and in 2002 the United Nations reaffirmed the commitment to complete the agenda of the 1990 World Summit. This added to the UN SecretaryGeneral's report We the Children: End-of Decade review of the followup to the World Summit for Children. The United Nations children's agency released a study referencing the population increase of children will make up 90 per cent of the next billion people.

SAVE WATER; SAVE LIFE
W
ater covers 71% of the Earth's surface, and is vital for all known forms of life. On Earth, it is found mostly in oceans and other large water bodies, with 1.6% of water below ground in aquifers and 0.001% in the air as vapor, clouds (formed of solid and liquid water particles suspended in air), and precipitation. Oceans hold 97% of surface water, glaciers and polar ice caps 2.4%, and other land surface water such as rivers, lakes and ponds 0.6%. A very small amount of the Earth's water is contained within biological bodies and manufactured products. Water on Earth moves continually through a cycle of evaporation or transpiration (evapotranspiration), precipitation, and runoff, usually reaching the sea. Over land, evaporation and transpiration contribute to the precipitation over land. Water on Earth moves continually through a cycle of evaporation or transpiration (evapotranspiration), precipitation, and runoff, usually reaching the sea. Over land, evapora-
tion and transpiration contribute to the precipitation over land. Let's join our hands in saving water as much as possible. Here are the different ways we can follow to save atleast some amount of water per day. Water is an interesting issue. As with all of Nature it is a symbiotic factor in
a greater whole, and an element all life depends on. As we degrade our soils, poison our land and remove the natural catchments for runoff through deforestation and removal of trees; as we fill in our waterways and natural filtering systems in the name of development and progress; as we dam up rivers destroying natural eco-systems, we completely upset the natural scheme of things that water needs to flow and filter clean water for us all. We will kill each over water. In our slumber we have assumed water will always be there for us – Clean water to drink, waterways for recreation, healthy rivers and oceans to supply us with healthy fish, water to wash our cars, water to green our lawns and landscapes, water to bath and shower in, water to brush our teeth with, water for our swimming pools. We can conserve, and consciousness is growing, but what about the new billions of people coming into the planet over the next few decades. As water levels go down, the pollutants in it get stronger. All of life is interdependent and all of life needs water or....? Water security and climate change Climate change will affect the water security of developing countries.Freshwater is a scarce resource. Only 2.5 per cent of the 1.4 billion km3 of water on Earth is freshwater fit for human consumption, and most of this is inaccessible — nearly 70 per cent is locked up in glaciers, snow and ice. Our greatest source of freshwater is the 8 million km3 of groundwater, with only 0.3 per cent of freshwater (105,000 km3) being found in rivers, streams and lakes. Discussions about freshwater availability increasingly focus on water security, which refers to people's
Website: www.gardencityplus.com
access to enough safe and affordable water to satisfy their needs for household use, food production and livelihoods. Water insecurity can arise from physical scarcity, resulting either from climatic or geographical factors, or from unsustainable consumption or overexploitation. It can also have economic origins, with poor infrastructure or capacity preventing access to the water resources available, or occur where pollution or

natural contamination renders water resources inaccessible. Water insecurity and scarcity already affect large parts of the developing world. The past century has seen a sixfold increase in global water demand. Nearly three billion people (about 40 per cent of the global population) live in areas where demand outstrips supply. This situation is set to worsen in the coming decades as populations grow, economies develop and agriculture and industry expand. How Valuable Water is? Three things no one can’t live without are Oxygen, Water and Food. No one can live without Water. But do you know how precious is water and how much pure water we have in world. Nowadays mineral or purified water is billion dollar industry. People are ready to spend 20 rupees for water bottle, because we know it’s not easy to get pure or clean water. One thing is sure; in future we are going to get shortage of clean water. In India you can see water shortage in every state, whether it’s capital of

India, Delhi or a village of Bihar. People can’t get clean water easily. Here are some water facts to remember: • Less than 1% of the earth’s water is suitable for drinking • More than a billion people around the globe survive on just over 1 gallon (4 liters) of water per day • Potentially more than 3 billion people may suffer from water shortages by the year 2025 • 66% of the human body is water • A person can only live without water for approximately one week Some of Facts about, How valuable clean Water are: • More than 4 million people died due to water related diseases. • 98% of water realted diseases occured in developing countries. • It takes about 300 litres of water to make the paper for just one Sunday newspaper. So use paper as less as you can, use E-mail and electronic sources more. • On average, women in Africa and Asia have to walk 3.7 miles to collect water. It can be more in rural villages of India.

What a Civic Mess? Residents Have a Role to Play
T
he Federation of HSR RWAs had organized a programme on how the civic mess the area is embroiled in, could be brought under control, on the 8th November, at HSR I sector. It has long been the debate not only in HSR, but the entire city, which is raging against the civic mess from which it is not able to wriggle out of. Keeping this in view, the federation had decided to embark upon an idea to address this issue from all quarters. It is pertinent at this point of time to
involve personalities to ‘educate’ the residents on the civic issues, which is not only garage, but other related ones too like the BMTC services being made use of, if the buses have to be pressed in to service. Representation from all the sectors of HSR was a pleasant surprise. Now the stage is well set for the entire HSR layout to function as a unit, thanks to the federation for taking the initiative. An expert on Civic Issues and the Chief Traffic Manager, BMTC were the eminent speakers of the day. Mr. Renukeshwar, Chief Traffic Manager, BMTC, started his talk by complimenting the RWAs of HSR layout, by saying that the development of this layout is only and only due to the respective associations, which have taken active participation in the uplift of the area. He mentioned that, this could perhaps have been the reason for the government and its agencies to start the pilot programme of ‘Open Streets’ in HSR. Appreciating the astounding success it had, it is now planning to have such programmes with regular intervals if it suits the public. While noting the inconvenience caused to the public due to limited bus service to HSR, he maintained that “the problem of not introducing extra routes so far is not with the Transport Corporation, but the public
- T RAMESH
itself. This is so because of non-utilisation of public transport by the same people who aspire for it. This should not happen as it (services) could be withdrawn if found underutilized”. He announced the routes of the ‘Feeder Routes’ which shall ply inside HSR layout with a frequency of 20 minutes, between Agara and Silk Board junction. Four such buses will be pressed into service from November 14th. Six Corona A/C buses shall also be introduced on the same day to ply from HSR CPWD bus stop to Kadugodi between 7.20 am and 9.20
am and between 5.40 pm and 7.30 pm. It is now left to the residents of HSR to make good use of public transport, which is made available to with connectivity as the main aim. The residents have a role to PLAY. A small but crisp talk, which was highly informative and educative, was delivered by the well known civic expert, Mr. Ravichandar, on ‘Present Day Civic Mess and Citizens Participation’ exposing the intricacies involved in the ‘garbage mafia’. Mr. Ravichandar, is working on civic issues since 2000 as a hobby. He used to be a member of the Bangalore Agenda Task Force. His contribution in this section is enormous. He was also one of the four at the grass root level in JNnurm projects. He broadly classified the civic issues in to 3 major segments among others, viz-a-viz, garbage, public health and traffic and roads. While stressing prominence has to given to the quality of life, he said that “it is a challenge to develop this city” and continued saying he was involved in a survey ‘Dive and Doom Step Correction’ which had a cross section of 2,200 residents participating in it addressing the major areas of problems faced. To his surprise, he said that apart from garbage taking the prime place in the ranking, it was public health
Website: www.gardencityplus.com
and not the situation and condition of roads that took precedence in the survey of problems to be addressed on priority. Due to the civic woes, the impact on the family is so high that it is now needed to be taken on a war-footing and help improve the health system of the people. This is TOP PRIORITY. The traffic woes are perhaps the worst here and frustrating. Use of private vehicles should be curbed and promote use of public transport and sharing system. On the contrary, he also said that it well said than done
this be fixed? He asked. It is next to impossible, he himself replied. This ‘leak is the one which is fixing the citizens leaking and depriving them of every single developmental work for them. Garbage is an issue which has been the talk of the town every other day, in fact every day. The disposal process adopted by the government is incorrect, he said. Yesterday, if it was Mandur or Mavallipura, today it is HSR and tomorrow some other village. This is a disturbing trend which will see no end. He suggested that the citizens will have to be
since “many of us would not prefer to use the public system; we are all good preachers”. He was emphatic when he said that “I should do it first, for me to encourage others to do it” (use of public transport and discarding private vehicles at least for a few days a week). He had a point. There has to be a first always. He has taken the lead. He stressed on the fact that the condition of the roads have always been deteriorating as ever due to bad quality of asphalting since there is a ‘leak’ which has to be taken care of. This was a disturbing truth so far as the residents are concerned. How can
trained in composting their own waste and dispose it by selling or use it as manure in their own garden or produce gas. Thereby, the garbage itself will be reduced and no concern of disposing it will arise. He said it is impossible to dismantle the ‘Garbage Mafia’ which ensures that the contracts given will not ‘yield’ rich harvest if segregated. Most of the times it is seen that even the segregated garbage is again mixed since the people behind it do not want the garbage to be segregated. This is called as the ‘Garbage mafia’. He continued his accusation saying “we are putting up with these atrocities
which we ought not to”, with dismay. There was another valid point he made. “Government should not expect profit from all the public services. But, it insists that it is not ready to bear losses there, instead it is willing to forego profits and incur losses on Metro even if it is for 50 years”. If the system works in this fashion, then where is the end to all the civic problems? He concluded saying that despite having more RWAs in this city, the problems are also more here equally as compared to many other cities. Hence RWAs will have to participate in all the government schemes. His message was loud and clear: YOU CARE ABOUT CLEANLINESS and NEED TO BE COLLOBORATIVE. So, it is better that, we as residents start preparing our own composting rather than depending on the un-dependables! Ensure garbage is not littered. The residents have a role to PLAY. It was a pity that time was running out. He kept the gathering spell bound waving his magic band with all accurate statistics to prove.

A Combination of Planets after 131 years - Unique Diwali
T
his year, the 2015 Diwali is even more auspicious because three yogs (times) have come together. The three yogs are Sowbhagya Yog that bring blessings and good luck, Bhudhatiya Yog that leads to excellent results of work and Dhrata Yog that brings prosperity. The last time this combination of planets
occurred was 131 years ago – in 1884. Here are some interesting insights on Diwali: Dhanteras During the Samudra Manthan (when the sea was churned in the quest of nectar) Goddess Lakshmi appeared with blessings of infinite prosperity and Lord Dhanvantri appeared with the blessings of Amrutha Kalasa (pot of medicinal nectar). On this day, one invokes the blessings of both these deities for prosperity and health. Naraka Chaturdashi This is the day that celebrates the victory of good over evil. Narakasura was killed by Lord Krishna. Lamps are lit on this day. We need to get rid of the evil tendencies in us such as anger, greed etc. The oil used to light the lamp
is symbolic of these evil qualities. The wick represents the soul. The lighting of the lamp therefore symbolises the conquering of the evil within us to attain bliss. Diwali This is the amavasya night (new moon day). The moon is not visible on this day. On this dark night, people illuminate the entrance to their homes with diyas. This is symbolic of the welcome accorded to Lord Rama on his return from the forest to Ayodhya. Rangoli The traditional rangoli made of rice flour and flowers is an important part of the celebrations. It is believed that the intricate designs of the rangoli will entrap the evil vibrations in the environment and prevent them from entering the house. This is the reason the rangoli is always at the entrance of the house. Sweets Traditionally, sweets are exchanged between relatives and friends on the occasion of Diwali. This exchange of sweets symbolises the softening of any bitterness that may exist between people.

Financial Planning is Relevant in Today’s Lives
P
ersonal financial planning process has to be very individualized and personalised. Financial planning should focus on all the psychological and financial factors that may have an impact on your financial goals and objectives. In short, personal financial planning provides you with a long-term strategy for your financial future, taking into consideration every aspect of your financial situation and how each affects your ability to achieve your goals and objectives. Personal financial planning can help you construct the foundation on which to build a secure financial future. Through six distinct steps in the financial planning process, financial planners help you, as evidenced by meridian financial, a foreign company of repute: 1. Clarify your present situation by collecting the facts: You will want to assess all relevant personal and financial data such as lists of assets and liabilities, tax returns, record of securities transactions, insurance policies, wills, trusts, pension plans,
etc. 2. Decide where you want to be, financially: This will require you to identify both personal and financial goals and objectives for you and your family. Financial planners help you clarify personal and financial values and attitudes. These may include family financial planning issues like providing for your children’s college educations, supporting aging parents, or relieving immediate financial
Website: www.gardencityplus.com
pressures that would help maintain your current lifestyle and provide for retirement. These considerations are as important as what is in your bank account in determining your best strategy. 3. Identify financial problems that create barriers to you: Problem areas can include too little or too much insurance, a big tax burden, inadequate cash flow, or current
investments that are losing the battle with inflation. These possible problem areas must be identified before solutions can be found. 4. Receive a written financial plan: The length of the financial plan document will vary with the complexity of your individual situation. It should always be structured to meet your needs and objectives. 5. Implement agreed-upon recommendations of your plan: A financial plan is only helpful if the recommendations are put into action. However, the decision to implement, modify, or reject the recommendations presented in your plan remains your sole responsibility. You may request that the planner assist in the implementation of the agreed upon recommendations, including coordination with other knowledgeable professionals as required. Or, you may implement the plan yourself. 6. Periodically review and revise your plan: A financial plan can be no better than the data upon which it is based. Periodic reviews and revisions of the plan are essential to account for changes in personal and economic
conditions. While this task may be accomplished without assistance, it is usually advantageous to have financial planners provide these services for you. The process enumerated above is typical of a doctor-patient relationship with ‘TRUST’ being the critical success factor. The subject in itself is a combination of art and science coupled with number crunching skills and is not akin to forecasting where the equity / debt markets are headed but calls for a crucial introspection with subtle changes to bring in taxes and inflation into account and be ahead of the curve. Over the next few editions, we shall help you embrace risk, return and other inhibiting factors in financial parlance which plays a crucial role in helping us reach our financial destinations. Animal Fact - Spider Monkey
Tarantulas give some people the creeps because of their large, hairy bodies and legs. But these spiders are harmless to humans (except for a painful bite), and their mild venom is weaker than a typical bee's. Among arachnid enthusiasts, these spiders have become popular pets. Tarantulas periodically shed their external skeletons in a process called molting. In the process, they also replace internal organs, such as female genitalia and stomach lining, and even regrow lost appendages. There are hundreds of tarantula species found in most of the world's tropical, subtropical, and arid regions. They vary in color and behavior according to their specific environments. Generally, however, tarantulas are burrowers that live in the ground.Tarantulas are slow and deliberate movers, but accomplished nocturnal predators. Insects are their main prey, but they also target bigger game, including frogs, toads, and mice. The South American bird-eating spider, as it name suggests, is even able to prey upon small birds. A tarantula doesn't use a web to ensnare prey, though it may spin a trip wire to signal an alert when something approaches its burrow. These spiders grab with their appendages, inject paralyzing venom, and dispatch their unfortunate victims with their fangs. They also secrete digestive enzymes to liquefy their victims' bodies so that they can suck them up through their straw-like mouth openings. After a large meal, the tarantula may not need to eat for a month.
Poor Blood Circulation Leads to Multiple Organ failure Pick Yor Free Do you know that your body works continuously to circulate more than five liters of blood through your body? Blood circulation helps the body organs to function, transport nutrients and hormones and regulate body temperature etc. Poor circulation may not show up easily and because of its silent nature, it may pose many health risks without you being aware of. Poor circulation can affect people of all ages and if left untreated, it can cause serious damage to your brain, heart, liver, kidney and limbs. The build up of plaque inside the blood vessels and other factors slow down the blood circulation and thus limit the effective transportation of blood to the heart, arms, legs, heart, and other important areas of the body. Some lifestyle habits such as smoking, lack of exercise, long sitting hours, wrong eating habits and medical conditions make an individual susceptible to this issue. Pregnancy and weight gain also causes impaired blood circulation. Proper blood circulation helps maintain normal body temperature. However, poor circulation causes the
body temperature drop from the optimum level. This can result in fever, chills, cold hands and feet. Poor blood circulation also affects the kidneys which cause swelling of hands and feet known as odema. There will be less oxygen and nutrients fueling the muscles due to impaired circulation. This makes you feel tired. Poor circulation also causes shortening of breath, sore muscles and less endurance during daily
Website: www.gardencityplus.com
activities. Poor blood circulation also causes insufficient amount of blood flow in the reproductive organs. This causes erectile dysfunction and makes it difficult to perform sexual tasks. Impaired blood circulation also results in less blood pumping throughout your body slowing digestion and constipation. Proper blood flow is important for the brain to function. Poor blood circula-
tion makes you feel dizzy. Lack of concentration and impaired memory are some symptoms. The body's ability to fight against foreign bodies (which cause infections) is also affected by poor blood circulation as the antibodies will also be sluggish. As a result of this, you will be experiencing frequent episodes of illnesses. Poor blood circulation to the liver prevents hunger signals from reaching the brain. This causes people to eat less due to lack of appetite and there will be weight loss. Since oxygen is not supplied to the body tissues and organs due to impaired blood circulation, the colour of your skin changes and gets purplish or blue known as cyanosis. This deprives the hair, skin and nails of essential vitamins and minerals. There will be hair fall, dry hair, dry skin, fragile nails etc. Poor circulation may increase the pressure inside the veins. This results in swelling and twisting beneath the skin especially near the ankles and feet. This can also be experienced when we sit for longer hours. There is a consequent itchiness and pain.

What’s Your Raashi Aries: Your indie spirit gets ratcheted up another notch today, thanks to a harmonious angle between unconventional Uranus in your sign and the moon in unbridled Sag, your ninth house of adventure. Taurus: Only connect! Your soul craves deeper bonds, thanks to the alignment of the moon in your intimacy zone with transformative Uranus in your deep, esoteric twelfth house. Good enough isn't suitable today, and you may find all your interactions come out of that motivation. Gemini: Forget big group outings and activities today, Gemini. What's going to be the most effective—not to mention the most fun— are one-on-one interactions. So skip the team lunch and go out with one favorite colleague. Cancer: Take your time, Cancer! You may be tempted to dive headfirst into an involved work assignment, but before you take your first step, come up with a clear action plan. Unbridled Uranus is hitting the accelerator in your career zone, but a helpful trine to the moon in your organized sixth house today urges forethought. Leo: Get your unstoppable on! Fact may be stranger than fiction today, Leo. If someone comes to you with a very outside-the-box proposal, before you judge or write it off as too outré, give it a good listen. Virgo: Put away your wide-angle lens, Virgo. Today the cosmos want you to play to your strengths! Libra: You're the original crusader for justice, Libra, and nothing pushes your buttons like unfairness. But under today's tricky moon-Uranus connection, things might not be as they appear.

salman as `prem` returns in prem ratan dhan payo There is a scene in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, where at it’s most romantic moment Rajkumari Maithili (Sonam Kapoor) gives Prem Dilwala (Salman Khan) a huge, white feather pen and asks him to write on her back. She goes on to shut all the doors of the large palatial kitchen, signaling her surrender to Prem. It’s the classic Barjatya romance, full of the nineties’ sensuality and moral, virginal men and women. The kitchen or a terrace is the romantic playground. In 1994, it was no different. Khan was the same, shy and gentlemanly Prem, who was served a loving meal, late at night by Nisha (Madhuri Dixit). Soon they danced to a sensual SP Balasubramaniam number, “Pehla pehla pyaar hai”. It all started for both Barjatya and Salman Khan in 1989,when they made their debut with Maine Pyaar Kiya. Khan was a younger Prem who gracefully covered Suman (Bhagyashree) when she unrobed herself for him. Once again, SP's bass-heavy voice in "mere rangon mein..” brought out the beautiful, sensual mood of the sequence. Back to 2015, Barjatya’s sense of romance is still the same: virginal, old world and musical. The hero’s name is the same: Prem. The sentiment is the same: pure love. The values are the same: strong sense of family duty. The PRDP world is almost the same: rich, big families, but with a difference. They are not the deeply loving joint families of Hum Aapke Hain Kaun or Hum Saath Saath Hain. This Rajshri world has a family full of discord. There are half brothers and half sisters, one father with three wives. They are not just rich. They are royal kings and queens who live in palaces. This sheesh mahal has a bhool bhulaiya zone full of Mughale e Azam like mirrors and huge chandeliers which are used to display an element most uncharacteristic of a Barjatya film: Violence. Little wonder, that it is the most unconvincing part of the film. What comes before and after the fight sequences, is the most predictable of plots yet the most appealing part. It works because of what Barjatyas are really good at: massive and blatant emotional appeal. There is a prince called Vijay Singh (Salman Khan, in a small double role). He is betrothed to princess Maithili. Vijay has a half brother, Ajay Singh (Neil Nitin Mukesh) who resents Vijay’s authority as the eldest. Vijay has two half sisters (Swara Bhaskar and Aashika Bhatia) who resent his rightful heritage denied to them because their own mother was not their common father’s queen. There is a secret plot to kill Vijay. In the midst of the story of the prince and princess comes a pauper and a look alike of Vijay Singh—Prem Dilwala. In some rather contrived ways, Prem ends up resolving family issues while entertaining with too many songs. There's also a football sequence along the way (remember cricket in HAHK?) while a small moustache also plays a significant, romantic role. The screenplay stretches for a good 170 minutes and goes into lengthy brother- sister tearful sagas . It goes, “rishta behnon ka hai lekin naam to hai, bhaidooj.” The acts are well pulled of by Khan with his usual playful balancing; Mukesh charms with his sizzling screen presence and Bhaskar is entertaining in her heartwarming portrayal. Sonam Kapoor is sweet and adequate as the innocent princess but has little to do. Not surprisingly, this Barjatya film is as nice, predictable, old fashioned and sweet as a Diwali laddoo. Full of emotionally engaging, PG-rated Prem leela.

Scorpio: Think forest, not trees, Scorpio. If you've got a big vision that you're dying to get off the ground (and really, when DON'T you?), you need to build a rock-solid foundation first. Sagittarius: Take a cruise on the Love Boat, Sag! A spicy trine between the amorous moon in your sign and unpredictable Uranus in your romance corner heats things up today. Capricorn: Come up for air, Cap! Your nose is not actually affixed to the grindstone, and today's trine between the moon in your intuition zone and feisty Uranus in your domestic corner encourages you to carve out a little time for a close friend or relative. Aquarius: Sure, there are seals to save and civil liberties to defend. And there always will be. But save the sign waving for another day. Pisces: If your job isn't lighting a fire in your belly, you need to take matters into your own fins, Pisces.
