Dear Families, I hope you are doing well and are encouraged. I miss you all and I really miss seeing and teaching your kids. I am excited to share that starting July 5th will will be using our Gospel Project Curriculum. We started this new curriculum in the beginning of March 2020 when we were still meeting in person. One of the things I love most about this curriculum is how no matter the age group, each class is learning the same Bible Story, Bible Verse, and main point. Each week in our Sunday Liturgy there will be a video of me teaching the main story and the Gospel Projects video to go along with the lesson. A PDF file will be attached to the Liturgy with the story I taught in the video and optional age appropriate activities. Please let me know how you like it and use it! I would LOVE to hear from you. Love, Cindy Garcia Kid’s Director

Read: PreK-5th Grade Story God Created the World-Genesis 1 In the beginning, nothing existed except for God. God created the heavens and the earth. The earth had no shape, and darkness covered the earth. The Spirit of God was there, hovering over the waters. God spoke: “Let there be light!” What God said happened. God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and He called the darkness “night.” Evening came, and then morning came. That was the first day. God spoke again: “Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate them.” What God said happened. He made a space between the water that was on the earth and the water above the earth. God called the expanse “sky.” Evening came, and then morning came. That was the second day. God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear.” What God said happened. God called the dry land “earth,” and He called the gathered water “seas.” God saw that it was good. Then God said, “Let the earth make plants and trees with fruits and seeds.” What God said happened. Plants and trees grew, and God saw that it was good. Evening came, and then morning came. That was the third day. Next, God placed lights in the sky. God created the sun to shine during the day and the moon and stars to shine at night. God gave us lights to shine on the earth, to separate day from night, and to help us track time in days and years. God saw that it was good. Evening came, and then morning came. That was the fourth day.

Next, God made creatures that move and swim in the water. He made birds to flap their wings and soar across the sky. God saw that it was good. God told the animals to multiply, and they filled the seas and the sky. Evening came, and then morning came. That was the fifth day. Then God made more animals—livestock, creatures that crawl, and wildlife—to live on the earth. When God said it, it happened. And God saw that all of it was good. Christ Connection: Jesus is Lord over all of creation. The Son has always existed. The Bible says everything was created by Him and for Him, and He holds everything together. All of creation exists to bring God glory.

Read to kids: 1-3 year olds God Created the World (Bible Story for Toddlers) In the beginning, there was nothing but God. God made the world using only His words. God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light! God called the light day and the darkness night. The next day, God spoke and made the sky. The day after that, He made the land, the trees, the grass, and the plants. The next day, God spoke and made the sun, moon, and stars. After that, God made fish to swim in the water and birds to fly in the sky. God made all the animals that live on land, from the biggest elephant to the smallest bug. God blessed the animals, fish, and birds and told them to fill the earth. God made everything. God saw that His creation was good. Gospel Gems Everything God made was good. THE

GOSPEL G OD ’S PLAN for US

The gospel is the good news, the message about Christ, the kingdom of God, and salvation. Use these prompts to share the gospel with your kids.

GOD RULES. Ask: “Who is in charge at home?” Explain that

because God created everything, He is in charge of everything. Read Revelation 4:11.

WE SINNED.

Ask: “Have you ever done something wrong?” Tell kids that everyone sins, or disobeys God. Our sin separates us from God. Read Romans 3:23.

GOD PROVIDED. Explain that God is holy and must punish

sin. God sent His Son, Jesus, to take the punishment we deserve. Read John 3:16.

JESUS GIVES.

Ask: “What is the best gift you’ve ever received?” Say that Jesus took our punishment for sin by giving His life, and He gives us His righteousness. God sees us as if we lived the perfect life Jesus lived. This is the best gift ever! Read 2 Corinthians 5:21.

WE RESPOND. Explain that everyone has a choice to make.

Ask: “Will you trust Jesus as your Savior and Lord? You can turn from self and sin and turn to Jesus.” Read Romans 10:9-10.

Optional Activities: (PreK -5th grade)

Older Kids- Reflection and prayer (5 minutes) Distribute a sheet of paper to your child. Ask the kids to write about or draw a picture to answer the following questions: What does this story teach me about God or about the gospel? What does this story teach me about myself? Whom can I tell about this story? Invite kids to draw their own creatures Say • Good job drawing those creations! The world is full of so many different plants, trees, fish, birds, and animals. What a good idea to make so many different things! Do you know who made all these things? God! In today’s Bible story, we will hear how God created the world. Form play dough animals Set out play dough and play dough tools. Invite kids to form animals out of play dough. Kids may wish to flatten the dough and use cookie cutters or shape the dough into three-dimensional animals. As kids work, comment on how God created animals. Say • Your play dough animals are great! God made so many different kinds of animals. God blessed the animals and told them to have baby animals so there would be more of them on earth, and they did! God created everything, and it was good. Jesus is Lord over everything. Jesus holds everything together. Animal parade Explain that you will call out the name of an animal. Kids will pretend to be that animal. When you call out “zoo” kids may pretend to be any animal they choose. Say • Did you know that God made all the animals? God made animals that live in the water and animals that fly in the sky. God made animals that live on earth—all different kinds. God is so creative; He made so many different animals! We will hear how God made animals—and everything else—in today’s Bible story. Land and sea Place a tarp or drop cloth on the floor. Set on the tarp a large plastic tub with water and another large tub with sand. Allow kids to play in the sand and the water with their hands. Make sure kids dry or wipe off their hands before switching to the other tub. Say • God created the oceans and the land. He filled the oceans with sea creatures and covered the land with plants and animals. Today we will learn about when God made all the wonderful things we see in nature. How do you think God created everything? Why do you think He created things.
