Letter From James Gibson, President and CEO

Dear Members,

Welcome to March at Garden of the Gods Resort and Club, with the final day of our Mardi Gras weekend wrapping up today in the Rocks for Fat Tuesday. This officially marks the countdown to Easter on April 17th, when hopefully we will have a taste of springtime weather.

Our golf course maintenance team continues to work on the damage caused by the horrific windstorm in December. Most of the downed trees have been sectioned and removed to an out-of-play area on the south course, where they will be cut up and mulched.

I would also like to thank you for your cooperation with helping to preserve the golf course during this time. While we have experienced a lot more snow over the last few weeks, it has not been enough to lift the walking only request on the course. Our team continues to protect the greens and truck water the course until we either receive considerably more moisture or there is consistently warmer weather at which time the water irrigation system will be engaged

The M&M Tennis Center is staffed and ready for your tennis and pickleball play. There is opportunity for private as well as group lessons. The 8-week Junior Clinic schedule is set to begin on March 21st through May 22nd. More information will be forthcoming or feel free to contact one of the tennis professionals. We continue our search for a new Director of Racquet Sports and have a large number of potential candidates whom we are currently assessing, with a view to a hiring decision. The construction of our new tennis and pickle ball courts continues well, despite the wintry weather which is making concrete pouring problematic. We are still on target for these to open in May.

Extending the February Member Social to two consecutive evenings as opposed to just one, was a success in being able to serve almost all members that wanted to attend. Therefore, the March Member Social will take place on two evenings again, Tuesday, March 15th and Wednesday, March 16th in the Grand View Dining Room. As you may recall, these events used to be at a cost, but will continue complimentary. Please watch for additional details and registration to open later this month.

A Chef’s Dinner is being planned by our culinary staff to take place on Saturday, March 26th. It will be a creative plant based seven course meal with wine pairings that looks very fun and creative. A copy of the menu and further details is contained later in this newsletter.

Just a reminder Sunday Brunch is back at the Grandview on the third Sunday of each month beginning at 9:00 in the morning. Be sure to make your reservations either on the Member Portal or by calling 719329-6901.

Finally, we removed the policy to have our staff wearing masks on February 16th, as COVID cases and hospitalizations have dropped. We are pleased to show you our smiling faces once more and thank you as always for your continued support.

Enjoy your March. Yours in wellness.
