AUGUST 12 & 26 THURSDAY **UNION CANAL TUNNEL & PARK 9:30am depart Apartment Suites Lobby Approximate return, 1:30pm (Sign up began July 6) Take a narrated boat tour through the oldest existing transportation tunnel in the United States. In the 1820’s, the Union Canal linked the commercial centers of Harrisburg, Reading and Philadelphia. Today, it is maintained by the Lebanon County Historical Society. Picnic tables available. SEPTEMBER 8, WEDNESDAY **25TH ANNIVERSARY DINNER WITH THE QUEEN & JOUST (Sign up begins August 3)
Garden Spot Village celebrates 25 years by having Dinner with the Queen. A fabulous medieval feast with all the fixings will be served in the great outdoors under a shady canopy. Travel back in time as Roundtable Productions fills the afternoon with sights and sounds of a medieval festival including intricate costumes, juggling, music and a live joust. Visit historic Cape May, New Jersey, the Victorian seaside gem and oldest resort in the country. Enjoy the morning browsing, shopping and eating lunch on your own. The afternoon will include a guided ridealong mansion tour aboard the Sea Trolley, with a stop at the Mission Inn. Wrap up the day with dinner at a local seafood restaurant. Dedicated to the American Heroes of two historical events which occurred in Pennsylvania, we’ll tour: The Flight 93 National Memorial & Memorial Chapel. We will also tour the Quecreek Mine Rescue Site; remembering the miraculous rescue of miners trapped 240 feet beneath a farmer’s field. Considerable walking is involved.
