DEVELOPMENT
Linda Dodge, CFRE, Director of Development
WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR ANGELS? Thank you to everyone who remembered/honored loved ones by placing angels on the Angel Trees. The trees have looked lovely in the Chapel Lobby and the funds raised through this project have gone to the Benevolent Fund. Angels may be removed from the Angel Tree on Monday, January 2. Volunteers will help find angels from 9:30 – 11:30am. At the end of the day, all angels not picked up will be removed from the tree and placed at the Resident Services Desk until January 15.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR 2016 GIFTS AND VOLUNTEER TIME I am blessed to work at a place where I know many residents have a passion for making a difference in the lives of others. As we say farewell to 2016 and begin a new year, I want to express my sincere appreciation to you for the gifts given for the Benevolent Fund and other special projects. Garden Spot Village is blessed that an increasing number of residents are including Garden Spot Village in their estate plans through wills, charitable gift annuities, insurance policies, etc. More than 50 individuals are now members of the Legacy Society and we know of several who have already talked about what they are going to do in 2017, which will make them eligible to be added to the Legacy Society. This past year many residents were also volunteers for the Development Office. Your help with the Fall Festival, Golf Tournament, Angel Tree, Bird House event. Business Expo and other special projects makes it possible for us to raise funds to help those residents who for reasons beyond their control have exhausted their financial resources. May 2017 be a year of happiness and good health. God Bless You!

N EW Y E A R !
May it be a fabulous 2017 for you and your families. The first people to move to Sycamore Springs arrived in December. It’s exciting as our community continues to welcome more people and there’s an opportunity to offer a wider variety of choices and locations. Look & Learn starts again in January, so feel free to invite friends, family and acquaintances to learn more about the wonderful place where you live. As always, if you invite someone to a Look & Learn you are more than welcome to join them for lunch. It’s an opportunity to both extend hospitality and help people experience Garden Spot Village. If you are on Facebook we hope that you will “like” the Garden Spot Village page, as well as, like, comment upon and share our posts. It is another way to help share the wonderful place where we all belong.

PASTORAL SERVICES
Women’s Retreat JANUARY 14, SATURDAY
Pastor Chet Yoder, Director of Pastoral Services
9AM-2:30PM, CHAPEL
The annual women’s retreat is sneaking up on us! Bring a friend with you. Non-residents are welcomed. The day include fellowship, special music with Johanna Spangenberger, learning from our Father God, and making new friends. The lunch break at Noon will allow for dining at GSV food venues. Wear your name tag. Janette Godfrey, our GSV retreat speaker, has given us a preview of the day’s theme...”For this…we have JESUS.” COST: $5 registration fee will be deducted from your account. Sign up at Resident Services before January 10. Standing in the Sufficiency of God’s Grace. Janette invites us to prepare for these challenges: Who among us has not experienced the “This’s” of life? Illness…Loneliness…Heartaches…Mistreatment… Unexpected Life Changes…Regrets... Death of a Loved One… and the list goes on… What is our response to the “This’s” that come into our lives? Do we Complain, Cry, Cower and Crumple? Do we Reject bitterness, Receive God’s grace, and Rejoice in His care? How do we come to the end of our own devices or attempts to handle our “This’s”? How do we Stand in the Sufficiency of God’s Grace and not fall to pieces? An examination of Romans 5:2 and Psalm 23 will offer truths, insights and encouragement that apply for any and all of our “This’s”… we have JESUS! Both Janette and Johanna are local women, serving God from the Lancaster County community of faith. Call Marian Harnish, associate chaplain (6235) with any questions.
