NEW YORK SCHOOL OF URBAN MINISTRY MISSION TRIP

OCTOBER 9-13

The New York School of Urban Ministry (NYSUM), founded in 1984, has hosted, trained and deployed more than 150,000 youth and adults for urban ministry, partnering with inner city pastors, churches and ministries in New York City. GSV residents John & Irene Smucker were founding partners and remain connected to NYSUM today.

October 9-13 Garden Spot Village will sponsor a group of residents and staff for a week of outreach with NYSUM. Opportunities will include light construction work at the center, assisting with the food truck ministry to homeless persons in the evenings, visiting the Brooklyn Tabernacle prayer/worship service on Tuesday evening, and sitting in a class related to urban missions. A $50.00 donation per participant is requested and will cover the cost of transportation and room and board at the NYSUM center.

Sign-up at Resident Services. For more information contact Pastor Chet Yoder or John & Irene Smucker.

SUMMER READING STORY SHACKS

Miniature libraries (Story Shacks) have been placed around the campus for your summer reading enjoyment. Books are available for you to take and read. You are also welcome to add books.

The theme for this summer will be MEMOIRS BY BLACK AUTHORS.

Story Shacks can be found in the pavilion at Magnolia Court, the pavilion between Lily and Blue Bell Courts, Sycamore Commons, and Hemlock Commons. A page containing guidelines for adding and removing books from the Story Shacks is included with each one. Please contact Pastoral Services with questions for additional details.
