Schematic design tests & documentation for both client presentation and building department committees.

Analyzing & responding to the design criteria as laid out by the various council bodies so that building permits could be issued in a timely manner so as not to stall the construction.

 

Updating layouts for exiting for the relocation and subsequent return of existing business house tenants on the ground floor.

Detailing of interior elevations & co-ordination with detailed working MEP services for the design package. Technical documentation for planning submissions

Assisted the team with the design development package for the both the client and the submission to the planning department. Understanding & creating a design document that satisfied the planning department regulations as well as maintaining the aesthetic required by the client. Assisted with the creation of the build document for the contractors.

Katharine Pooley Ltd, London, United Kingdom Responsibilities 

Co-designed and developed projects for clients all over the middle east region

Introduced a standardized working set which is used as the basis for all drawing documentation and specification writing.

Lead role in conjunction with the interior Architects design team to create and industry standard document equivalent which KPL now use as the basis for design documentation within the firm.

Project managed, design and build of Katharine Pooley Ltd’s award winning private residential project built in Doha, Qatar.


     

Alongside KPL’s, interior design team, produced the firms first working set of specifications to be used in conjunction with the bespoke design service offered by Katharine Pooley Ltd. Fully co-ordinate sets for all MEP & AV & Structural requirements.

Worked in Doha, alongside local firms and contractors in Qatar to complete the build within the allotted time frame and budget requirements. Understanding & creating a design document that satisfied the planning department regulations as well as maintaining the aesthetic required by the client.

Set the standard for the firm’s documentation & mapped out the framework for all multidisciplinary projects going forward. Assisted with the creation of the build document for the contractors.

Projects      

Interior architecture and design service for high-end budgeted residential projects in the Middle East region, specifically Qatar & Kuwait Commercial shop space for Katharine Pooley Ltd which was opened in Jul, 2013. Lead role in crafting the specification drawing sets.

Introduced the junior to better building practices by raising the level of safety awareness as well as a series of checks and balances that would help keep the standard of workmanship at a high level. Internally set out criteria for the company’s drawing specification package to keep it in line with industry standards.

Scheduled project time frames using Microsoft Project software which helped revenue by increasing awareness as well as the ability to communicate efficiently with clients, other disciplines, colleagues in-house, in addition to the software’s ability to layout realistic time frames for projected work.

Gensler, New York, New York, United States of America Responsibilities 

Co-developed multi million dollar commercial office projects within in the city.

Consultant co-ordination of drawings and schedules, which included understanding & further detailing specific issues for onsite construction.

Project management, co-ordination of drawings and meeting organization/ administration.


   

Drafting for upgrading of existing building services, revisions to work, details and documentation, co-ordination with expediter & building management.

Answering RFI’s understanding the specifics of each request & following up change orders etc. when billing reviews were required. This also required responsive reaction for all client invoicing & any budget controls that were needed.

Plan reviews for various building managements who were responsible for day to day running of specific building which fell under Gensler’s remit. Worked directly under the New York office technical director who was also my mentor during my time with Gensler.

Co-developed multi million dollar residential projects within in the city.

Co-designed and developed projects from the residential to multi million dollar commercial projects

Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort, redevelopment of Yanuca Island from develop design stage through to construction stage Central Queensland University, Fiji Campus, site development options through to final presentation. Sheraton Fiji, Denarau Island, conceptual chapel design.

Graham Eden & Associates, Fiji Islands; Interior Designer Responsibilities    

Redesigned commercial & residential interiors for local business people, embassy personnel, private homes, hospitals, universities, private schools as well as resort complex’s which catered for large numbers of up to 1000people as well as boutique resorts which would hold up to 12 rooms total. Coordinated a group of skilled craftsmen on the requirements & installation.

Developed the business economic standing as one of only three firms in the country that offered the full turnkey service. Liaised, supplied and co-ordinated with other Oceania island nations assisting them with interior design requirements for local & international government agencies as well as tertiary institutions such as schools & hospitals.

Worked alongside local architects on international resort projects whose guest accommodation included up to 5600 rooms. This would often include a full design package of the support facilities i.e. dining rooms etc. with a standard of quality that was set by head offices outside of Fiji such as – Shangri-La Resorts & Properties, The Meridian Group, Hilton Hotel, and Sheraton Fiji.

Multicultural work experiences has given me a unique insight for negotiating design solutions.

Publications & Awards January 2015

Finalist – Best Commercial Design Award, 2015. Qatar Design Awards. This is in reference to the Katharine Pooley Ltd boutique in downtown Doha, Qatar. The installation of a 3,000 sq. ft. showroom was completed by mid, 2014. I was responsible for all aspects from design inception all the way through to the final construction onsite out in Qatar, UAE.

Best Commercial Design Award, 2014. International Design Awards – Awarded to the Katharine Pooley Ltd showroom in Qatar. The Installation was not only the first of KPL’s business ventures abroad but also the first major expiation of the business & by default is will now be the standard bearer for future builds.

‘Inside Out’ Jun-Jul 2012 edition, this publication featured the newly built Doha residence, for its Interior design, planning & construction all three aspects of which my first project undertaken for KPL. ‘Best in Category’ Nov 2012 SBID awarded the home in Doha for the 10,000 sq. ft. residential home category.

World Trade Center Memorial Competition Entry Published in -New Town Project New York World Trade Centre Competition By ‘Archi-world’ Magazine ‘Interiors’ Nov 2003. The first project which I undertook in NYC for Proctor & Wang Associates. The project was completed just after I had completed my studies at, The City College of New York, The project was the feature article & made the cover of the American edition of ‘Interiors’ magazine.
