Redruth North Partnership (RNP) is a partnership of residents’ associations and community groups in the Redruth North area. – We started in 2006 and are a registered charity (number 1119035). We aim to improve the quality of life for people in the area.

The RNP sailing project was a great success

We provide a way for residents to highlight concerns and problems in their area and identify solutions to these issues. We also provide advice, guidance and training opportunities for residents and support them in running trips and activities. We work closely with many local community groups and the voluntary, private and public sector organisations that have a presence in the area.

We started the Picture of Life project in 2011. We gave out cameras to young people and asked them to take photos of anything they wanted in the area to show us what they thought of living here. We developed the pictures to create an exhibition that was shown in early 2012. We had some amazing photos (and some bizarre ones!)

“RNP has helped the community go from strength to strength tackling many of its problems and bringing hope to many families”

Run in the summer of 2008, Operation Goodnight was the UK’s first voluntary curfew. There were long-standing issues with anti-social behaviour in the area. Problems included elderly people having stones thrown at their windows and random vandalism. The curfew was run in partnership with the local Police, the Council and other voluntary and community groups. The results were striking. Crime fell by 60% and anti-social behaviour was reduced by 67%, compared to previous holiday periods.

We are proud to say we helped save Close Hill Post Office. We campaigned hard with residents, local council members and the post office staff, resulting in a change of mind from the Post Office’s national management team. We funded the Street Dance project in 2009 which helped dispel some of the bad reputation of young people in the town. Run in partnership with Redruth School and the Youth Centre this showed that young people can be creative and make positive contributions to their communities.

–– What we are doing The Greenfingers Project has been running for three years and is supported by Duchy College in Camborne. You may have seen our van out and about in the area and our trainees doing work in the community! Greenfingers is a gardening service for local residents. It also provides an excellent opportunity for people to get training and work experience and earn a wage. 100% of profits from the service are re-invested in the community. –– Greenfingers has: • Helped 160 people get qualifications in horticulture, first aid, health and safety, manual handling and conflict resolution • Got 15 residents into full time work and 22 into further education • Provided 15 residents with free driving lessons • Removed the equivalent of 20 elephants (160 tonnes) of rubbish from local housing estates • Cleaned and improved 180 gardens (30 football pitches worth).

“A huge thank you to the Greenfingers team for erecting my fence. You’ve made an old woman very happy.”

We host and run the local ‘Have Your Say’ meetings. These meetings are public - open to everyone living or working in the area. Members of the public can raise issues and then vote in order to prioritise how these are dealt with by key partners including the Police, Town Council, Housing Associations and others. We are enthusiastically helping the development of new community groups. For example we helped set up an older peoples’ activity club, a Zumba group for disabled people, a young parents health group and ‘Witches and Stitches’ - a knitting club. If you have an idea for a community group or activity get in touch as we can help you make it happen.

“You make me feel like I can try anything”
