◆ June 15-24 ◆ Granville Arts Center Garland Summer Musicals opens its sensational 2018 season with the Broadway and Film Classic My Fair Lady. Lerner and Loewe’s smash hit features a modern twist on George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion, as Eliza Doolittle takes speech lessons from Professor Henry Higgins in hopes that she will someday pass as a lady. Frequently called “the perfect musical,” My Fair Lady has stood the test of time as one of Broadway’s most beloved musicals, a true classic of the genre. Garland Symphony Orchestra with Alex McDonald
◆ May 11, 8 p.m. ◆ Granville Arts Center The Garland Symphony Orchestra closes its Vienna: City of Music! Season with an amazing concert. Pianist Alex McDonald performs Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 2 in Bb Major. Since his orchestral debut at age 11, pianist Alex McDonald has soloed with the Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado de Mexico, the Louisiana Philharmonic, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, and the Utah Symphony Orchestra, among others. Alex McDonald is currently on faculty at Texas Woman’s University, having previously taught at Richland College as well as at the Juilliard School.
