The legendary Broadway classic and winner of nine Tony Awards has touched audiences worldwide with its humor, warmth and honesty. The story centers on Tevye, a poor dairyman, and his daughters. With the help of a tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters, and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores. Fiddler... will be directed by Michael Serrecchia, and will star Randy Pearlman as Tevye. Other leading roles include: Noelle Mason as Golde, Natalie Willingham as Tzeitel, Allison Bret as Hodel, Amanda Childs as Chava, Andi Allen as Yente, Joey Donoian as Motel, Brandon McInnis as Perchik, Neil Rogers as Lazar Wolf, Chris Clark as Fyedka, and a spectacular ensemble! Vision of the Arts sculpture!
The Vision of the Arts masterpiece will be a destination sculpture that will increase the awareness and visibility of the arts, and play a vital role in the economic development of downtown Garland. This 2.5 ton bronze sculpture will stand 15 feet with a base of eight feet in diameter. The total budget of the Vision of the Arts sculpture is $300,000. The City of Garland has contributed $100,000 and the Garland Economic Development Association has donated $50,000 to the project. The Garland Cultural Arts Commission, Inc. has several opportunities for individuals, organizations and corporations to leave their legacy. Partner today with the GCAC, Inc. to raise $150,000 to complete the funding of the Vision of the Arts sculpture by renowned Dallas sculptor, Barvo.

Lifetime Achievement Award
On January 28, Garland icon Sue Watkins was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Garland Cultural Arts Commission, Inc. for her amazing role of covering artistic events in Garland since the opening of the Arts Center in 1982. In 1972, Sue followed Wayde Cloud as Women's Editor of the Garland Daily News, where she wrote the Serendipity and Our Town columns. Sue is the great communicator who told Garland's story for over 40 years.

The Garland Cultural Arts Commission, Inc. announced the winners of the 2016 GISD High School Senior Art Competition. This marks the 29th year of the GCAC, Inc. Awards. The GISD Visual Arts Show was coordinated by Chad Wilkinson, Lead Art Teacher for GISD. The judge for the competition was professional artist, Shug Jones.
