Garland Symphony Orchestra continues Viva España On March 15, the GSO presents the Eighth Annual Movie Scores Quiz for an evening of challenge and enjoyment! The GSO will perform selections from soundtracks of famous films set in Spain. A prize will be awarded to the audience member who correctly identifies the most film titles and composers. This performance will also feature Laura Ospina, Principal Cellist. On April 19, the GSO will perform Beethoven’s Leonora Overture No. 3, Mozart’s Overture to Don Giovanni and many more! This performance will feature ART EXHIBITS at the GRANVILLE ARTS CENTER

The GISD Visual Arts Senior Art Show will be held March 5-19. This is the 25th anniversary of the GISD Visual Arts Awards for the Garland Cultural Arts Commission. March 22-April 21 enjoy a watercolor exhibit by UNT artist David Collins. Viewing hours are Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, and during all performances. The GSO’s audience can look forward to a musical fiesta as fiery as a Flamenco dance and as rich as a bottle of Rioja! Olé in the Brownlee Auditorium of the Granville Arts Center! Garland Civic Theatre Ends 2012-2013 Season With Death and a Dance Join Garland Civic Theatre as they conclude their season with two wonderful shows. “Death Takes a Holiday” is a striking masterwork that has established itself among the important plays of our time. A wonderful evening of theatre full of comedy, suspense, mystery and pathos — a beautiful love story that is as simple as it is appealing. Running February 28 through March 23, this is a can’t miss show. GCt’s final show of the season is “All Aboard For Broadway,” the story of a Broadway producer putting on a show in 1917. The fireworks explode like the 4th of July in this All -American Musical featuring some of the best songs of George M. Cohan, including You’re a Grand Ol’ Flag, I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy, Over There, Give My Regards to Broadway and many more! This fun production runs from April 11 to May 4. Performances are in the Small Theatre of the Granville Arts Center. Show times on Thursdays are at 7:30 pm. Friday and Saturday evening performances begin at 8:00 pm. Saturday and Sunday matinees are at 2:30 pm. Tickets for “Death Takes a Holiday” are $17-$22 and tickets for “All Aboard for Broadway” are $20-$27. Group rates are available. Gone With The Wind March 30, 7 pm

...at the Plaza Theatre on Saturday, March 30 at 7 pm. Winner of 10 Academy Awards, this classic film narrates the love between Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler during the American Civil War. It's the history of a selfish woman who doesn't want to admit her feelings about the man she loves. Admission is free, however only the first 350 people will be admitted. Sodas, candy and popcorn will be available for $2 each and the proceeds will benefit the Garland Summer Musicals.

Akili Music Productions presents Jazz at the Plaza Theatre April 20, 7:30 pm, tickets may be purchased at the door. Performance will feature jazz and ballad vocalist Rachel Lyon, the amazing belly dancer Jamila Johari, and recording artist and jazz saxophonist Hank Francis.

Garland Summer Musicals 2013 Auditions Garland Summer Musicals announces auditions for their 2013 Season which features the film and musical theatre classic Singin’ in the Rain, June 14-16 & June 21-23 and 9 to 5 The Musical, based on the Dolly Parton Blockbuster film, July 19-21 & July 26-28. Individual audition times will be on Saturday, April 6th 9:30 am-10 pm and Sunday from 7-10 pm. Dance call for both shows will be Sunday, April 7th 12:30-4:30 pm. These professional musical productions are under the direction of Buff Shurr. Musical Director for Singin’ in the Rain is Mark Mullino and the Musical Director for 9 to 5 the Musical is Scott Eckert. Kelly McCain will choreograph both productions. Rehearsals for Singin’ in the Rain begin on May 20th. Rehearsals for 9 to 5 The Musical begin on June 24th. Call 972-205-2790 for an appointment time.

Arts-N-Lyrics’ Poetic Theatre Group Presents “Naptural” The play “Naptural” is about Dennis McKnight, a selfish man harboring a part of his past that is causing him to behave as if everyone is beneath him, especially his daughter Robin.
