It’s playtime! Families can participate in Open Play — the Central Library’s new weekly event, where families with children ages 12 and younger can enjoy free playtime and STEAM activities.

BOOKWORM BOOK CLUB 2 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 20, Oct. 18 and Nov. 15 South Garland Branch Library | 972-205-3933

Families with children ages 3 to 5 are invited to join The Bookworm Book Club. Each book club meeting will focus on a particular theme. Families are encouraged to read a picture book or an age-appropriate nonfiction book matching the theme and bring it to the meeting to share. Library staff will read another book on the theme aloud before book sharing and extension activities begin. Extension activities will promote early literacy practices and may include arts, crafts or other projects. Themes: September: Pets, October: Space, November: Dinosaurs.

T-REX TEA PARTY (AGES 3-7) 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 North Garland Branch Library | 972-205-2804

Attendees ages 3 to 7 will learn tea party etiquette from a T-Rex, play dinosaur-themed games, make dino crafts and enjoy refreshments.
