Participants will explore science and engineering concepts while completing hands-on STEAM projects. September project-Coding with Swift Playground, October project: Hydraulic Judo-Bots, November project: 3D Dinosaur Puzzle. Registration required, begins two weeks prior to event dates. Each STEAM Lab will consist of stations featuring activities on a centralized theme. Attendees may take home any project they complete at the event. September theme: Fall. During the week of Oct. 10 - 14, the library will present a different STEAM Lab each day featuring activities on a centralized theme: science activities Monday, Oct. 10; technology activities Tuesday, Oct. 11; engineering activities Wednesday, Oct. 12; art Thursday, Oct. 13; and math Friday, Oct. 14.

DIY CANDY DISPENSER (CHILDREN AGES 6-12) 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 North Garland Branch Library | 972-205-2804

Families will work together to make cardboard candy dispensers in the shape of pumpkins, a Frankenstein’s monster head or a vampire head using hot glue, cardboard and elastic. Candy will be provided. Registration is required and is limited to 15 groups of four people or less. Each group must contain one adult. To register, call 972-205-2804 beginning Saturday, Sept. 24.

Children can celebrate Native American Heritage Month by listening to the story “We Are Water Protectors” by Carole Lindstrom and Michaela Goade, which introduces the concepts of water and oil pollution.
