Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. Just pull up a chair and exercise. These chair exercises are simply modifications of familiar exercises and a gentle way to build muscle strength and flexibility.
Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:15 a.m. Improve flexibility, relieve stress and tone muscle with the use of a chair. A great class for beginners.

Exercise Room Don’t forget our exercise room is open for use whenever the building is open. We have treadmills, a recumbent bicycle, an elliptical, a stair climber and free weights available for your use.
Tuesdays 10:15 a.m. Train with a sixth-degree black belt. Feel safer, more confident and more agile. The instructor will use moves specific to seniors and their needs and abilities. FIRST CLASS IS ALWAYS FREE!!

Father’s Day Facts 1. 50% of all Father’s Day cards are purchased for fathers, according to Hallmark. Almost 20 percent of Father’s Day cards are given to husbands. 2. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates there were 72.2 million fathers in the United States in 2014. 3. Sonora Smart Dodd of Spokane, Washington, is credited with starting Father’s Day after hearing a sermon on Mother’s Day while attending church with her father. 4. Dodd wanted to honor her father, William Jackson Smart, a Civil War veteran who raised six children after his wife died during childbirth. 5. According to the National Retail Federation annual survey, consumer spending on Father’s Day is expected to rise to an all-time record of close to $17 billion in 2021. 6. In 2021, nearly 75% of people intend to celebrate Father’s Day.
Father’s Day Recipe: Garlic Rosemary Pork Chops
Ingredients
Instructions
• 4 pork loin chops
1. Preheat oven to 375°. Season pork chops generously with salt and pepper.
• kosher salt • freshly ground black pepper • 1 tbsp. freshly minced rosemary • 2 cloves garlic, minced • 1/2 c. (1 stick) butter, melted • 1 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
2. In a small bowl mix together butter, rosemary and garlic. Set aside. 3. In an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat, heat olive oil then add pork chops. 4. Sear until golden, 4 minutes, flip and cook 4 minutes more. 5. Brush pork chops generously with garlic butter. 6. Place skillet in oven and cook until cooked through (145° for medium), 10-12 minutes. 7. Serve with more garlic butter.

The Garland Senior Activity Center and the Carver Center are recreation centers for adults 55 and up, offering an extensive variety of activities and classes intended to enhance and enrich the lives of active adults in our community. The centers are not a licensed adult day care facility. All paid and drop-in activities are designed for independent participation. Staff does not provide direct supervision or personal care and does not monitor participants coming and going. Participants requiring assistance need to be accompanied with a caregiver or assistant while at the center.
