What to Expect
Lunches will continue to be delivered and passed out through our drive-thru meal program. Seniors will not be able to eat those lunches inside of the building. Seniors may bring their own food or drink while the center is open to the public. Masks are encouraged but not required. Social distancing is encouraged. The Senior Center will open from 8 a.m. to 11. The Senior Center will close at 11 a.m. and all seniors will need to leave the facility so staff can start the meal program. • At 3 p.m. the Senior Center will reopen for the rest of the day from 3 p.m. to 8. Senior Center staff is so excited to have our amazing seniors back! If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at 972-205-2769.

Mother’s Day Recipe
Classic Roasted Chicken INGREDIENTS
• 1 (3 1/2-lb.) chicken • Kosher salt • Freshly ground black pepper • 1 yellow onion, cut into large pieces • 3 medium carrots, peeled and cut into large pieces • 2 stalks celery, cut into large pieces • 1/2 lb. baby potatoes, quartered • 1 head garlic, halved • 1 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil • 3 tbsp. melted butter • 1 lemon • 1 bunch fresh thyme
DIRECTIONS
1. Pat chicken dry and season all over with salt and pepper. Tie legs together and tuck wing tips under the body of the chicken. (If you have time, let rest in fridge for 1 hour, or up to overnight.) 2. Preheat oven to 425°. Fill a 9”-x-13” baking dish with onion, carrots, celery, potatoes, and garlic and toss together with oil and 1 teaspoon salt. Place chicken on top. Brush chicken all over with melted butter and stuff cavity with lemon and most of the thyme, reserving a couple sprigs for garnish. 3. Roast until juices run clear and a meat thermometer inserted into the center of the thigh reads 165°, 50 minutes to 1 hour. Tent chicken with foil and let rest 15 to 20 minutes, then transfer to a cutting board and carve. 4. Serve chicken with roasted vegetables.

The Garland Senior Activity Center and the Carver Center are recreation centers for adults 55 and older, offering an extensive variety of activities and classes intended to enhance and enrich the lives of active adults in our community. The centers are not a licensed adult day care facility. All paid and drop-in activities are designed for independent participation. Staff does not provide direct supervision or personal care and does not monitor participants coming and going. Participants requiring assistance need to be accompanied with a caregiver or assistant while at the center.
