Pumpkin Decorating Contest
Pumpkin Drop-off: Oct. 28 Pumpkins will be displayed Oct. 28-31. Winners will be announced at 11:15 a.m. Oct. 31.
The Rules: Only one entry per contestant. Enter as an individual or team for the competition. Participants can use one or more pumpkins to decorate. Pumpkins may not be carved or hollowed out (rotting pumpkins will be thrown out). Objects, paper and materials of any kind may be pinned or glued to pumpkins. Participants may draw or paint on their entries. No electrical device may be used as part of any entry.

Widowed Person Support Group offers a free grief support program designed for widowed Persons of three months to two and a half years. The Garland Senior Activity Center and the Carver Center are recreation centers for adults 55 and older, offering an extensive variety of activities and classes intended to enhance and enrich the lives of active adults in our community. The centers are not a licensed adult day care facility. All paid and drop in activities are designed for independent participation. Staff does not provide direct supervision or personal care and does not monitor participants coming and going. Participants requiring assistance need to be accompanied with a caregiver or assistant while at the center.
Medical Transportation
The City of Garland offers a free medical transportation service for Garland resident seniors 60 years of age and older to their local Garland medical appointments. This limited service is intended for seniors who have no other means of getting to and from their local medical appointments. Please call 972-205-2890 for more information.

Nutrition & Transportation Program
The nutrition program is a daily lunch program that ensures a nutritious lunch for senior citizens. On a limited basis, free transportation to both senior program locations is available to seniors, age 60 and older, living in the city of Garland, who participate in the nutrition program. Meals are served Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. Paperwork must be completed before being able to participate in the program. Please call 972-2052769 for additional information. This service is supported, in part, by the Dallas Area Agency on Aging (DAAA), the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) and Dallas County.
