Did you know
that every year the Parks Division picks up over 1 million pounds of trash from our parks, medians, and right of ways? Folks throw out so much trash that it is hard for our department to keep up sometimes. Did you know that in Garland we have over 63 parks that make up over 2000 acres of parkland? That is a lot to keep clean every day. In an effort to make your park going experience an enjoyable one, the Parks and Recreation Department launched a 40-day initiative to clean up our parks before the summer.
Think of it as the biggest springcleaning in the city. Employees were asked to see our parks and facilities in a new way. Everyone was able to get in on the action – trash cans were updated, facilities were polished and repainted, and really no leaf was left unturned.
Can you see a difference?

You can help us keep our parks and facilities clean and tidy by viewing our Parks and Recreation system in a new way too! If you see it, pick it up, and give one of our new trash cans a whirl!
