Welcome to the 30th Far East Football Tournament! On behalf of the whole GAS family we want to warmly welcome all participants and spectators to our 30th edition of our traditional Easter Football tournament. We are proud and happy to salute this year once more a strong group of 16 teams for the Casuals and 9 teams for the Veterans cup. Also this year we are introducing a new event with the Masters tournament over 45, which will take place only on Sunday. It is good to see that the majority of teams which had been playing here in the previous years are coming back, including the top three positions of the last years tournament, what makes us confident in organizing the whole event in the right way and what also makes us expecting to see another hot battles on the soccer field. We imagine that not only the French team from Vietnam, who suffered two defeats in the previous two finals against the Swiss Club Singapore, is keen to take away the trophy from them. Also for the Vets tournament we are happy to see that many of the teams who played here many times already are coming back. Last year was showing a very balanced tournament with narrow results, and performances showing that every team was able to beat any other team. Although the hosts have been happy to reach the final, it was still disappointing to loose that, but let's see what this year will be necessary to come successful through the tournament. We want to thank all Sponsors, helpers, referees, players and spectators to make also this year's tournament again being a full success and hope that everybody will enjoy our traditional program with the usual supplies and the great party on Sunday evening right after the Final. Please have a look at the Sponsors ads in our tournament brochure and support them if any possible. Finally without them the whole event would not be possible. Yours German All Stars Orga Team Gerd

SWISS FC - Singapore We are pleased to return to Bangkok – once again as the defending champion. Needless to say that our entire season is geared towards the Bangkok expedition. In the domestic Comso League, the Swiss are in the upper half, but will not win any silverware. Our entire focus is therefore on Bangkok and we hope to do well. The team will be quite different from last year’s winning combination, but we hope to have a competitive side on the pitch. As usual, we thank the German All Stars for hosting this fantastic event. Hopefully, the organizers have changed the modus of the tournament to make it a bit easier to understand for both organizers and participants.

The impressive twelfth century Angkorian "Bayon" Temple lends its name to this elegant team, which was established exactly 17 years ago. The strength of the Angkorian Empire is reflected in the depth of this team's character. The beauty and elegance of the temples is noticeable in the poise and grace with which they take to the field and is clearly seen in their flowing passes and general movement around the pitch. However, if the team doesn't get what it wants, the horrific brutality of the ancient Khmer kings is clearly evident in their violent and erratic behavior on the pitch. Bayon are led by their coach, good-old Billy "the Hat". If the Bayon players are in the mood, they will show his unique brand of total football, developed in his youth, around the time of Jayavarman VII. He intends to pass this on to all his players, who will try to write history in Bangkok. The Bayon Wanderers F.C. is a real team of "Wanderers" as the players are coming from all directions of this earth-ball. At the moment there are 23 different nationalities playing in the club. The team heading for Bangkok exists out of a mix of young and old, male and female warriors. Making their first appearance at this fantastic tournament are American female goalie Brianna, which will be unique for the Bangkok Far East Tournament, Australian Doctor Nick, English Aaron, German Gabriel and the Scottish Dave, with furthermore for the first time in history of the Bayon Wanderers FC some representatives from the African continent Apollo, Justice, Ugo and Valentine. The "veterans" among this team are Laurent, Big and Little Francois, Gordon, Phyrun, Ben, Billy, and probably some others. As every year the expectations for a good result are very high and these players will try their best to reach the highest, ‌‌ to take the Cup home for the very first time!

B52 CARNEGIES FC Tapei - Taiwan

B52 Carnegies Football Club, were formed back in 2001 by a group of expats wanting a kick around before the pub on Saturdays ~ and since those days have gone from strength to strength to bring us to our current position where we strive to be the team of choice for new expats arriving in Taipei. We usually enter at least two overseas tournaments each year, and are very excited about the upcoming tournament in Thailand especially after our experiences in Manila. While our players love to play and win at football, we are not just about football, we also like to encourage books clubs, bar dancing, other sports events and social interaction within the squad. We enter this tourney in Thailand coming off the high of winning the domestic league in Taipei. Led by our fearless leader Sir Craig Schofield we hope to continue with our brilliant form and anything less than a championship would be considered a major disappointment. We will be bringing a bunch of our Thailand regulars as well as a few new faces that are sure to bring some thing to the festivities! Good luck to all the teams and see you at bars!

FC Farang was first estabilished in 2009, when a group of farang got together for a kick about and as they say the rest is history. Since the beginning FC Farang have been going from strength to strength, if you discount the keeper, the defence, might as well throw in the Midfield and Strike force too... The team has a great support from the local movers and shakers on the island from both thai and farang business alike. With this kind of backing it makes FC Farang a force to be reckoned with.....on paper!! Here's a run down of the first team squad: John Aston (aka Popeye, Ramsey, The Man with a million face) *Not much needs to be said about John, only because if we do say too much he might cut you! John is the resident chef. Which baffles most team mates as to why he treats the ball like a hot potato?! > Classic Saying "That was never a throw in?!, Where's my fucking defence, why is no one on the posts" Soren Kristensen (aka Coach, Scallywag) *Coach has been an integral part of the team on and off the pitch (more off...) Coach is always willing and able, and one of the first to get needed equipment from Samui... > Classic Saying "Yeeeesssss!!! You Scallywag! Oliver Way (aka Steven, Stephen, Steve, Steffan...) *With his ice hockey style defending, Ollie..I mean Steven or Steffan... Fuck even we get confused. He's apparently a hit with the ladies...( What with...His Hockey stick?!) > Classic Saying "Hi my name is Steven..." Tony Squibb (aka The Rhino) *You get the basics with the Rhino, Head down, legs starts to kick up dirt then, CHARGE... > Classic Saying "I can run, but I'm not great at football" Sergei (aka Boris the mad Russian) *Named Boris for obvious reasons, he's Russian!! > Classic Saying "I think we need to change tactics!" Duncan Jezzard (aka Spunky) *A Striker that always goes missing in action, not just on the football field or for that matter in front of goal!! Yet you will always see his name on the scoresheet?! > Classic Saying "I'm a Fucking Geezer, they call me James Bond"

Eugen Popa (aka Huge Jeans) *A man mountain yet he only it's vegatables? A hypnotist which may explain how he got into the squad?! > Classic Saying " Look into my eyes..." Allan Seitzberg (aka Teacher) *Named Teacher even though he got off to a bad start spelling Alan with a double 'll'. Apparently one of the more efficient squad for timing, shame it cannot be said for his tackling!! > Classic Saying " Schnell, Schnell..." David Hansen (aka Jesus) *When your in Nida someone just give Jesus a call... > Classic Saying " Jessssssussss!" Mark Ostergaard (aka Puss) *The gentle giant that's always found in our main sponsers bar hounding the girls for burgers, morning, noon and night! > Classic Saying " Take it easy Guys!" Steve Sampson (aka 4 toes, Sambo, Churchill Dog) * Jersey born and bred, Sambo has all the classic features i.e 4 toes and your mum's, sister's, brother's, dad's your uncle?! > Classic Saying "Ohh Yesss!" Richard Evans (aka The Crab) *A Midfield boat engine missing an oar. As it seems he only goes round in circles or sideways. Maybe we pick up an oar while in Bangkok! > Classic Saying "Yes, Yes, Yes, Pass, Pass, Pass" Chris Jaggi (aka Mr Pink) *Everything about this guy is Pink, and I ain't joking! See for yourself... > Classic Saying " Jagerbomb, My wife stay Bungalow!" Mads Andersen (aka Mads) *Danish winger with more back flips then you can shake a stick at" > Classic Saying " Come on Guys!" Fortunato Jr (aka Four tins, Four cans, John West) *New on the scene this season. Developed the nickname from day one as John and Fabio couldn't remember his name and with that John West was born! > Classic Saying "Do they sell or have this in Bangkok? because in Portugal it's..." James Walsh (aka Jimmy) *Midfield Maestro, not a lot to be said as yet, apart from putting in a great performance in Samui recently, and I'm not talking about the game?! > Classic Saying "A up lad" Jo Nathan (aka Waxwork) *Madame Tussauds is a solid centre back literally. Don't be scared if one of your players stops for a picture > Classic saying "Say Cheese..." Fabio (aka Azlan, Tubby, Ron Jeremy) *Striker who's finishing is impeccable, providing it's served in a bun with cheese and bacon or some sort of food. > Classic Saying "I didn't order salad.., Pass the fucking ball... Aye (aka B, C, D, E...) *Our token Thai and all round good guy. > Classic Saying "Sorry..." Russell Smith (aka Mr Ladypower, Michael Stripe (R.E.M)) *Mr Ladypower gained this name after the ladies on the island started their own football team... Exactly you do the math... > Classic Saying "What time does training finish as I need to train the ladies..." Koert Withagen (aka The Body, Ken, Mr Handsome) *The resident Gym owner is now retired but looks after the money side of things. If you need a mirror when on the island. Head to his gym as that's where most of them are. Fucking poser! > Classic Saying "Come on Guys pay your subs, come on.. Look at me!"

FINEXSYS FC - Malaysia

Our motley crew of sedentary office workers, retired professionals and aspiring youngsters are back this year for another footballing adventure in the City of Angels in the Land of Smiles. Motivated by happy memories from last year's tournament (where we surprised even ourselves with a third-place finish), we are making the long journey to Bangkok to meet old friends and play some competitive matches. And we're looking to make new acquaintances and arrange tours and friendly matches anywhere in South East Asia for the rest of 2012 and beyond. So, I hope you will join us in the fun that is the German All Stars' Bangkok Far East Football Tournament - both on and off the field. Just ask our coach. His tactical instructions are: "Go out there and enjoy your football!" That is advice all our players take to heart, combining their holidays with their love of football.

After a rather successful last season in the Bangkok Farang league where we ended safely from relegation in the midfield of the table, this year GAS BANGKOK had to face a tough first division with one team less and a strong new promoted team. Although having lost another several key players (only to mention Fabu, Alex H., Tom, Fabian G, followed by Nicola and Tim shortly after the season started) we still believed having again a high potential squad and rather high expectations, we recognized soon, that we could not bring constancy into the training efforts and into the team line-up due to injuries, travelling, temporary players, etc‌, what finally didn't allow us to play a good role in the highly competitive league this season. Nevertheless we could show that on a good day we are on an equal level also with the top teams, our focus to rescue this season is now clearly to be successful on our Easter Tournament. Of course this will only be possible if we can bring our fighting spirit back to our usual level, as recently shown, and if we have a bit of luck. Regardless the rather poor performance in this years league competition, we are still happy to be part of a well-founded club, enjoying also the time off the pitch including our famous ice box after every game, the many trips, parties and events over the whole year and as one of the highlight our season end trip to Koh Samet with more than 70 participants. We are happy to see having players and members in our club from many European countries as well as from other continents all over the world, and our main target will be to keep our team as the most socialized one in Bangkok, even there is a big room for improvement again in the sportive section. We hope to see another edition of an exciting and fair GAS Easter Tournament without injuries, but a lot of fun on and off the pitch.

The German All Stars Singapore would like to thank their Brothers and Sister from the German-All-In-Bars-Team in Bangkok for their invitation to this year's City-Of-Angel- Bierathlon. Our GAS Singapore Squad sees a record number of tourists joining and some of them even come to play football. Let me introduce you to the heroes, who will go for glory in the legendary 30th edition of this wonderful tournament. This years Reiseleiter is Matze H., who has prepared an auspicious and stunning ensemble of cultural delights combined with highly professional wellness experiences. Everybody looks forward to the Saturday night fever soaking away the bruises of a long day of football. Matze wir danken dir and wish that you whistles us well through the jungles of Angels-City. Introducing the coaching team its our great honor to have the Stugggggarter Football Kreisel taking care of the tactics. Tommy B Burner together with his brother in crime Timo Hildebrandt-Kreuzband will ensure that for the first time ever we will bring back home some silverware and/or Tupperware. In goal we have as usual Katze Klaus, who was brought into the team after lengthy negotiations with U21 Coaches Rainer Bonhoff and Reiner Zufall. Klaus has a smashing track record of winning penalties since his very first penalty shoot out right after WWII :. The other goal keeper has a similar colorful vita to share and based on his excellent performances on and off the pitch he became the goal keeper of the legendary Chennai Cricket Club. Rumors has it that during his first game Rene showed up with his Pope-Costume and immediately won the hearts of the 2 female cheerleaders dancing along to the Curry-Polka-Tunes. Well Ladies - you have not REALLY seen him dancing yet - watch out! As every year we welcome the Delegierten from Kreistag Jakarta. Allen voran its Magic Marcus, who will enjoy his last tournament not being married. We don't believe this makes any difference, but its important to call out that all teams are invited to his wedding in the Sportlerklause in Jakarta in September. Magic - great to have you around with or without voice - it does matter! Marcus has brought with him Michael Guenther as well as 2 other Jakarta Legends, which our Reiseleiter Matze H. has both listed as "No Name Marcus". Assuming that those are not the real names we welcome you guys to stunning fireworks on and off the pitch. Speaking of guest players we also welcome die Massiven Toene aus Stuggitown. Stefan Burner is not a new comer and many ladies remember his body attacks off the field. We wish him good luck to score (this year)! In the Schlepptau of Stefan its Charlie Brown and Thorsten Schempp, who will ensure that we have a solid Schwoben representation getreu to their schwaebic slogan: Hund verkaaaafe selber belle. Cat Stevens once wrote his famous song called father and son. Since many years we are listening to this cult piece watching Father Binder and Son Binder winning the hearts and minds of our Thai Gastgeber. Both still working out on who is playing the veterans tournament, but it looks likely that Cyril gonna make it as Daddy Binder is far too young for the old farts. Its our honor this year to welcome the owners of the Schmidt Bank. Both Daniel Schmidt and Christian Schmidt are no brothers by law, but will ensure that there is sufficient liquidity and cash flow available during and after the games. Thank You Guys! ...to be continued at German Old Stars Singapore!

MANILA NOMADS - Philippines

'This year is our year'. When you hear those words, you'd be probably be correct in expecting them to come from some slightly deluded Liverpool fan. And you'd be quite right, as they have been uttering such gibberish for the last 20 years. However you might be more than surprised to learn that such comments have been uttered with just as much regularity over the last 18 years in Manila, since Nomads last won the German Far Eastern tournament in 1994.

Since then we have launched many expeditions over to Bangkok in search of silverware only to return in glorious failure. Well apart from one year when we did come back with the winner's trophy but that's another story, eh Albie J. Year after year we have assembled many a fine team and had very high hopes of reliving those heady days of 93 and 94. So often many a Nomads Team manager has returned to Manila only to be chastened and crestfallen staring at the bottom of any empty San Miguel glass at Nomads bar wondering where it all went wrong, usually muttering ..'If only'...

This year is 'our' year, it will be different. The players will no longer succumb to the temptations of the vast array of Thailand's wonderful temples and cultural attractions, no longer will players be allowed to go to the disco - all will be tucked up in their beds with milk and tactics manuals as the iron fist of Dennison ensures victory - or so he says. Just like the most optimistic scouser who every July places their faith and trust in King Kenny; so do we in March, with 'King Denno' at Nomads.

With a month to go to the tournament the mutterings of - 'This year is our year' are once more starting to circulate on the shores of the Philippines…we shall see.

Anyway on to the team that plans to emulate the greats of 93 and 94. Philip Connolly: Not a particularly fast starter or fast at anytime coming to think of it. Steve’s mate from that footballing epicenter - Lincoln! Follows in the line of great Nomads centre forwards – no talent and the turning circle of the Q.E. 2. Has been know to chin it in. Friso Klock: Sounds like a trance DJ and aspires to play outfield but isn’t good enough. Known for famously conceding 6 against Van Der Vaart when he was good. Is now mostly seen sat on the bench behind Jeff and punching holes in nightclub roofs. Mark Johnson: Failed golfer, Dad and voted slowest footballer in the Philippines. Can mostly be seen in Rogues/Pussycats etc etc (whilst Jade is away), answering to MJ and paying by Credit Card. Will probably be close to having the biggest bar bill on tour and proud of it. Danny Williams: Moylans former brother (in-law) and Nomads MVP, will likely to be seen struggling to get laid and smiling a lot! Kristian Jorgenson: Virgin on Tour, but is well accustomed to the bright lights. Will be partaking in plenty of Woo Woo’s and trying to break peoples legs on the football pitch. I don’t dare to say anything else! Chris Phillimore: Swindon bad man, struggles to handle his drink, his temper and easily led. Likely to encounter disciplinary problems on and off the pitch. Paul Hynes: Not sure why he’s coming (we don’t need a lift) – coming off a long term injury, bald, irish, can’t head the ball and pisses himself on occasions. French Nik: Can’t go on a session without his mrs, so expect her close by at all times. On the pitch he will be your typical French moaning , arrogant prick who doesn’t pass. Swiss Yves: Poorly dressed man, with questionable banter. Last seen groping MJ’s bird’s tits with Friso. James Relen: pre-season signing, closet homo sexual and poor man’s Sam Fogg. Expecting bigger things off the pitch rather than on it. Steve Borrill: Phil’s mate. Offered 10k USD two years ago to play and refused. Says enough about this cunt! Rich Wilson: Fittest man in the team, former MVP at Alabang and leading scorer in a tournament suggests he has it all. He hasn’t. You can catch him wetting his hair before games and usually giving it away on the pitch. Danny Denison: Son of Manager Michael, but possibly adopted given his good lucks… Left footed, but right handed which may explain his inability to cross, pass or shoot (may not be adopted after all). Recently separated from his long term love and when not seen crying can be seen dipping in to masseuses!! Queue Mick’s questions to young Dave… Mick Denison: Nomads best ever player, a pleasant, kind and selfless individual on and off the pitch… Enough of the bollocks… Would fall out with his own shadow, talks mostly shite and is never in the wrong Barrie Bradley: Nomads number 1 fan, Rangers till he dies and general liability. Likely to peak early and then be a nightmare, never short of a song! Sam Fogg: Male model, work horse and crane. Hobbies include posing for pictures in handcuffs, appearing in music videos, on billboards and dressed as a cowboy on the side of busses. Odds on to get laid. Randy Musters: Lazy Dutch cunt. Last seen in Bangkok wrestling Cocksy near a cash machine. Antonio Severino: Youngest looking old man on tour. Would like to thank his Mrs, and her family for paying for him to come on tour. Loic: French but nice, plays really nice football and has nice quick feet. Known to lick women’s arms on nights out, and is Nomads leading scorer – Nice.

GIA LOI HOTSHOTS are a new team competing in the SIFL in Vietnam for the first time in the 2011-2012 season. The team is a mix match of players from Saigon, Vietnam and Bangkok but boasts a diverse heritage ranging over 4 continents, and looks forward using that diversity to exploit its advantages on the field and at night. Making their first appearance at the GAS Tournament, and any international outing as a team for that matter, they have high expectations and are looking forward to playing some football as well. The game plan is simple but we know our team needs to be aggressive from the start, so trick plays, long balls, and milking the no-offside rule will be in abundance on Saturday. We hope that, plus a little luck should be enough to propel us to the top of our group stage. Sunday we look to incorporate more of our tactics and play a little more seriously, probably because of a lack of players. Most likely going into an all out attacking format as is our style, we will cycle players (possibly small local children), trying to figure out how to actually get an advantage from the substitution rule‌. Upon deciding to give up on that, we will get much better at one two passing as people continue to get tired from the heat and stop running. Instead we will form a giant triangle so that no one has to move much at all, thus leading us to victory. The team boasts a diverse heritage ranging over 4 continents, and looks forward to using that diversity to exploit its advantages on the field and at night. After the tournament and depending on the results, we may be found in any number of fine establishments but we are always interested in hearing about new places and meeting new people so don't hesitate to come over and say hello to our team. Of course we are still missing a few players that we wished could have joined, but we will keep them with us in spirit and bring them some good stories about the trip and tournament. A special thanks to our sponsor Gia Loi JSC www.gialoi.com.vn, because without them none of this would be possible. Visit them for your all your geotextile and construction fabric needs.

Under the name of Rugantino restaurant the team champions in the master category of last year came to play again, still leaded by the old captain Alberto Mancuso who is now near 62 years old and full of cup in Phuket. The team just won on 19th February 2012 the Borae Fussol Cup in Phuket that have many professional players from BKK and other provinces incl. the best Phuket players. The team won with the incredible score that 13 goals made and only one goal score from the other teams in the tournament. The old captain score the first goal open the tournament end the last decisive penalty in the semi final. The big score of the team was Jacopo A Vanzo with 9 goals a striker from Italy that play before for Verbania in the 3rd professional Italian League. Other important player was Stigh Edversen from NORGE who now plays in PHUKET FC in the first division of Thailand. MATT KLAYDEN FROM ENGLAND also plays for PHUKET FC and MARIO NARDI and SALVATORE GENTILE from Italy were professional soccer players in Italy and maybe in PHUKET FC in the current season. Sponsor master was PLUTOICE CREAM PHUKET, RISTORANTE CAPANNINA KATA BEACH and of course RUGANTINO RESTAURANT KATA BEACH where are collected in the big hall all cups, victories and pictures of 15 years football in Phuket and Bangkok. A taste of ITALY.

s n a r e Vet

Due to the flooding end of the year our normal Vet's league schedule must be changed. In December 2011 we could resume - with much less teams as normal. Over the last year we lost a lot of players due to their new business endeavours. On the other hand we also got new players. That is the fate of an expat team. So we are wishing all the best for our former players and give a warm welcome to our new players. After the first Vet's tournament in February we had to organize the trip to Manila. Two days of sport and 3 days of fun we got during this trip. During the Vets tournament in March the bones were still tired from Manila. Anyhow we are quite happy about the results during this season as we are mostly the oldest and heaviest team. So now we are all busy to organize our own tournament. We will participate with a Vet's and a Master's team. This tournament is always the high light of our season- on and off the pitch. For the Vet's team we have to keep in mind the success on the pitch. The Master's will concentrate purely on fun. So welcome to our tournament. As host we wish you that you have also so much fun like we had in Manila. Enjoy on and off the pitch and be aware of very tall girls in Bangkok's night life. Keep the fire burning, Hasi (The Coach)

The other bank which has sent 2 representatives can not be named, but we are glad that our IT supportt is so professional. Welcome to Markus the CIO (Chief Intelligence Officer) and Madse the CIA (Chief Information Anfuehrer). I hope I got the job titles correct. Anyway - Both are doing an excellent job b in running the midweek team in Singapore and so Reiseleiter Matze H. has prepared a special Thank-Y You-Benefits-Gala-Whistle-Concerto. Stay tuned! Every successful team needs to have a Quoten-Austriaan in the Team. Therefore we are delighted that Franzerl Brotzeit has made it to join the team. He haas had tremendous contribution to get our new sponsor Brotzeit locked and loaded and with this we haave agreed to enjoy one or the other Vienna sausage together with him, as it will make him feel home.. Franzerl fuer Deutschland ‌.! Hier bei uns im Norden, is where the Noridc by Nature Beauties Denis M. and Hermann B. are coming from. Its sad to see Herman leaving back to Germany after a great tim me with us over the last couple of years in Singapore. We also saw some sadness on the faces of somee of the tournament fans here, since Hermann is well know as the man with the good heart, who loves to give away donations. Thank You Hermann and All The Best back home! We will miss you! Christian Gueese is not sure whether he can make it for this year tournament. Reason is that he just released hiss new movie Hangover 3 which plays in Bangkok and was solely produced in the Sukhumvit Soi 33 Studioss. While he has not gotten a Tattoo most of the other activities of hangover 2 can be admired in Hanggover 3. Check it out! Somebody who is loved by the Bangkok Crowd is MBA Schacher. He is not only a Major Basketball Analyst (MBA) but also the man with the biggest turn around in 2011. Almost married he has cut his alcohol consumption dramatically and utilizes the weekends to further expand his IQ, EQ and OQ. Well done Schachi and we wish to see you on the pitch :-)! Somebody who has become one of the main pillars of the GAS Game is certainly Jan Wiechmann. There are rumors that he has 2 - 3 Lunggen and seeing him making the kilometers on the pitch you can certainly believe it. Well done Jan and d please keep running like Forest Gump (without Beard Please :-). Beside all those great guys, we wellcome a couple of new faces and so we say Glueck Auf and Good Luck to Lucas Haass, Julius Weis, Hanno o Karweit and Aron King. If you are an opponent you should now be scared about this wonderful German Team. If you part of this wonderful German Team you should be scared as well. Enjoy lah :-)! The Coming Out of the Closet Tour Oh to be in Bangkok now that Easter is here. There have been plenty of rumors about how gay the Red Lions are, so it is only right that on the 30th anniversary of this fine tournament, it is marked by the Lions coming out of the closet. This most homosexual of squads is not afraid to get stuck in, in any sense of the term. The Red Lions line up: “Gay” Rob: Goalkeeper. It’s said he takes it like a man. Takes it up the arse more like. Paul Hemingay: Defender. Lights up like a beacon. Especially when he’s surrounded by those tall ladyboys. Tony Hewitt: Defender. Never happier than when he’s getting a hand job from a transvestite. Paddy O’Sullivan: Defender. Leads the troops to battle. That sort of discipline can only come from a gay upbringing. Volker Nagel: Midfield/Goalkeeper. German. Gay. Nuff said. Mirko Messner: Midfield. Also German, pretends he’s straight. But watch the way he runs. Poofter through and through h. Jan-H Hendrik Meidinger: Defender. So gay, he had to have a double-b barreled first name. Andy Rooney: Midfielder/Attacker. The only member of the Red Lions squad who - outwardly at least - could be either way. But he’s not. Screaming bender. Chris Grimaud: Midfielder. French. Loves Elton John and Wham. Do I need to explain further? Dave “Robots” Roberts: Supersub. Lives in the area of Shanghai where the rainbow flag is flown proudly. He’ll definitely sco ore this weekend, although whether it’s on the pitch remains to be seen.

SPARTANS FC - Hong Kong

From the annals of time the life of a Spartan male was a life of discipline, self-denial, and simplicity. The Spartans viewed themselves as the true inheritors of the Greek tradition. They did not surround themselves with luxuries, expensive foods, or opportunities for leisure. Discipline, simplicity, and self-denial always remained ideals in the Greek and Roman worlds; civilization was often seen as bringing disorder, enervation, weakness, and a decline in moral values. The Modern day Spartans can be found in the depths of Hong Kong's de bauchery‌.they pride themselves on being uninhibited, unashamed and undomesticated. This year the Veterans uphold the Spartan tradition.

VIETNAM REUNITED - Vietnam

Vietnam Reunited are returning to Bangkok this year in the form of a more senior Masters team. The inability of our younger players to organize more than a piss up in a brewery means we have had to go Legends pulling out some experience Bangkok tournament tourers and their walking sticks. The collection ranges from people based in Manila, London, Melbourne, Jakarta, Taipei and Saigon but the one thing in common is they have played their expat football in Vietnam in the past and this is the chance to Reunite. Having not got much time to write more before the organizers chop my balls off I would just like to say we look forward to taking part again and a big thanks to the GAS for organizing a splendid tournament.

See you in Bangkok ! GAS

BANGKOK ANGELS - Thailand Bangkok Angels make their first appearance in the old farts competition at the 30th INTERNATIONAL FAR EAST FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT. The team takes its name from a time long ago when the British Club Bangkok (BCB) and German All Stars (GAS) Bangkok joined forces to play in the Manila 6s. BCB had a history of abject failure in Manila but GAS had some pedigree. Unfortunately, BCB's influence on the team was too strong and the team was one of the first to make it to the beer tent. Our expectations are the same this time. Just take a look at the team: RALF ZIELINSKI - veteran Hamburger man (the team not the food, although‌‌..). Ralf was a superstar for GAS more than 20 kilos ago. He even played a bit of football too. He led GAS when they won this tournament in 1998. Now he's equally inept in goal or as a striker and can often be seen hands on hips on the half-way line telling his players how lovely they are. EWALD FAULSTICH - German import and centre back. Previous star of GAS Bangkok and Blue Diamonds from Germany (who remembers them?). They won the tournament twice then disappeared. He's just had a knee op and quote 'I still have some problems moving fast from one direction into the other'. He's in good company then. MARTIN HAEBERLI - hard to believe that this old Swiss bugger is 60. Incredibly fit - he could easily pass for 58. I well remember him banging in goals from everywhere for GAS in 1998. No performance enhancing drugs then just lots of toblerone and the love of a good right hand. Used to be the Sepp Blatter of farang football in Thailand. JASON DINSDALE - handsome left footer and a regular at the old boys kick arounds. Was stunningly crap on his debut for Jimmy Howard's old boys in Manila last year. Much is expected of Jason this time. JULIAN BUTCHER - the Butcher of Bangkok. Watch out for Julian. No-one knows where he plays not even himself. PAUL CARNELL - fine, upstanding chap - Leeds United supporter. Dangerously effective in two minute bursts, every half an hour. Always looks forward to his turn in goal. STEVE KERR - the man with no team - Glasgow Rangers supporter. Never happy unless he's whinging and moaning. Played some decent football in his time. Used to be a striker but it's just too far to walk all that way up front now. Still much in demand for several teams in Bangkok and for tournaments. Why? TERRY BOULTON - won more footballing trophies than Ryan Giggs. Usually plays in open tournaments as the last minute substitute - time enough to get his hands on the trophy. Julian reckons he's a very good player though. Much expected. TIM HARRISON - gentleman Tim. He comes from a land down under where beer flows and men chunder. Used to play for Cosmos until they realized he raised their average age to a ridiculously high level. Tall educator, often found at the far post - leaning DANIEL POOLE - what can anyone say about him that hasn't already been said - nothing. GREG WATKINS - just passed 20 years in Thailand. Maturing gracefully like a vat of wine. Like Ralfie engaged in a life-long quest to avoid anorexia. Had to organize his own tournament so he could carry on playing. The chances of all these lads turning up for the first game are slim so expect some last minute replacements.

BANGKOK VETERANS - Thailand

Our players are the cream of the cream of the oldest players of the not so little-known league called the BangkokVeterans League. We are football-hungry, beer thirsty, slow aging and moving; all Over 45 boys, from many nationalities and all walks of life; we like to play in the true spirit of friendship and the love of the game. The "old guard" in the team will come from LeCoq French team which plays exclusively in the Veterans League. We take great pride and pleasure in participating for the 1st time in this exciting and well-organized tournament. This time we unite with our good friends from the Bangkok Veterans League --- the "younger and better half" --- to bring a stronger challenge, and create another Unique experience for all. The Bangkok Vet’s league get together once-a-month, kick the ball around in a very social and friendly atmosphere for about half-a-day, and have a well-deserved party at the end of the day with beers and trophies and laughs. Best of it all, we're always on the look out for new teams and players to join in. So, come and find us at http://www.vetsleague.com Remember, if it's 1st Sunday, it's Vets day! We thank the German All Stars for their invitation and wish them success in their organization.

MANILA NOMADS - Philippines

1993 was the first year Manila Nomads entered the German Far Eastern Tournament. We actually won it, and the first team pictured is from the tournament - look closely and you may notice a very slim Bangkok legend - Greg Watkins.! We came back in 94 and won it again beating a very tough Thai Shell Bangkok team in the final.

We were (and still are) Nomads, mighty Nomads, no-one liked us and we didn't care - the trophies were ours. Some 19 years on from that victorious campaign the Veterans of those victories are back namely Moylan, Severino, Cosgrove who maybe joined by one Mr. Hockley who must be now 65, he was a vet in 1993/4! We have every intention of coming to win and will be joined by relative newcomers, in Nomads terms, of Ellis(95) Yates (97) Dennison(98) Philimore (95) Echter(97) Wilson (02 but still tour virgin) Cocks (95 - note the spelling!) and in goal a Nomads legend Neil Torrence, who once had a hatrick of own goals put past him in the first 15 minutes of a match at Nomds by a defender who certainly is not on tour. The numbers in brackets are not ages (though we might play like that) but when those players first played for Nomads and probably in this tournament.

We are looking forward to once again exploring the temples and local tourist attractions though we now know most of them better than the locals. Good luck to everyone and may the best team win!

Last year few long time members and friends of the German All Stars moved to pastures new‌ Alex ( akka 'Sao Paulo Franze') left us to Germany, because of other duties for the Fatherland. We will badly miss his amazing Caipirinha's and his better house parties. He always gave everything for the club, on and off the pitch. We will never forget his unforgettable motivation emails. We all wish him and his family all the best for the future and looking forward to welcome him back from time to time.

Fabu (akka 'the beach boy') moved back to nice Switzerland. He is just a great guy and everybody can count on him in every situation when the club needed him. All GAS members and above all the ladies up and down the city are sad about this big loss and we all know that it comes the time to see him again.

Richard (akka 'Capitano') went back to the home town of the ski jumper, Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Also with him, a good friend and leader over many years left us. His football analysis will sadly missed by all the GAS family. We wish him and his two beautiful daughters all the best.

Thank you very much for all you did for the German All Stars! Furthermore we say Good Bye & Thank You to Boris, Felipe, Jaime, Nico, Nicola, Tom, Fabian G., Fabio, Florian S., Fabian W., Alex, Toni, Hamster & Flo. We wish you the best of luck in the future. We will miss you. Take care and keep in touch. GAS

Rules of Competition 2012 In general, all FIFA rules apply to this Tournament. Major exceptions and clarifications are described below. In line with officially practiced FIFA rules, the Referee’s decisions are final. No one shall dispute his decisions in any way, on or off the field during the Tournament. There will be only one Referee during each match. In short, 29th Bangkok Far East Football Tournament will have a “no-age-limit”, “11-a-side”, “11-a-half”, “full-field”, “no-offside”, “rolling-subs”, and “yellow-card-sitout-the-half” format Tournament and a “over 35-age-limit”, “7-a-side”, “7-a-half”, “half-field”, “no-offside”, “rolling-subs”, and “yellow-card-sit-out-the-half” format Tournament. This Tournament will be played on a natural-grass pitch according to FIFA rules. This year, all matches shall be played at Bangkok Patana School, Sukhumvit Soi 105, Bangkok, Thailand during the Easter weekend of 23rd & 24th of April 2011. The participating teams shall be divided into “X” groups of “X” teams for the round-robin Group Phase matches. The Groups Draw shall take place during the Captain’s Meeting on 22nd April 2011, the Good Friday night before the Tournament, at Old German Bierhaus (Sukhumvit Soi 11) Players shall be allowed to play for more than one (1) team in the entire Tournament, if and only if the Captains of the two (2) relevant teams and the Player who is switching teams agree to it. According to FIFA rules, shin-guards are mandatory equipment. In the Group Phase, each team shall be awarded with three (3) points for a win, one (1) point for a draw, and zero (0) point for a loss. In addition, one (1) - and, only one (1) - extra bonus point shall be rewarded to the winning team that can score three (3) or more goals in one (1) match. This means a maximum of four (4) points per match for any winning team. All matches shall be played according to the Tournament Schedule as announced by the organizers during the captain’s meeting. Any team arriving more than five (5) minutes late after the scheduled kick-off time of their match shall be considered forfeiting the match with a score of 2-0 walk-over. The punctual team shall be awarded with two (2) goals and three (3) points. If both teams are late (usually Sunday early morning matches!), they shall both be penalized with a 2-0 loss. Match playing time will be announced by the organizers at the captain’s meeting. There shall be a short break between each half. However, for an added touch of suspense, the Final Matches in all competitions shall be played as a thirty (30) minute match of two (2) halves of fifteen (15) minutes with a five (5) minute half-time break. A team must have minimum seven (7) Players at the start of each of their matches; otherwise, the team shall be considered forfeiting the match with a score of 2-0 walk-over. The opponent team shall be awarded with two (2) goals and three (3) points accordingly. Unlimited rolling substitutions (“rolling-subs”) are allowed, and Players who are substituted are permitted to return to play at a later time within the same match or later matches. Substitutions shall be made as the two (2) playing teams see it fit without stopping the match. Since it is rolling-subs, the on-coming substitute shall exchange places with the out-going player at the same spot on the same sideline. In the interest of fairness and controlling rough tackles & late hits, any Player receiving a yellow card during either half of a match will be sent off, without being substituted, until the end of that half during that match (“yellow-card-sit-out-the-half”), leaving his team one (1) player less for the remaining minutes of that half. The yellow-carded Player shall be permitted to return to the same match in the 2nd half or play in his team’s next match. A Player with two (2) yellow-cards collected in one (1) match shall automatically be sent off, and is suspended for the next match. A direct red card shall also lead to an immediate send-off from the match as well as an automatic penalty of one (1) match suspension, with the possibility of further disciplinary action by the Organizing Committee. After all the round-robin matches in the Group Phase are completed the Organizing committee will announce the knock-out Elimination Phase games and schedule. The following four (4) criteria shall apply so as to decide the group rankings: [1] Goal difference, [2] Goals scored, [3] The score of the match between the deadlocked teams, [4] Sudden-death-penalty-shoot-out. The winning teams in all competitions shall continue on playing through their Quarter Finals, the Semi Finals and the Final. In case the teams draw at the end of the regulation time for the matches there shall be a penalty shoot-out immediately, without playing any extra time, following the match to decide the winner of the match. The following rules shall be observed for all the penalty shoot-outs in this Tournament: Before the shoot-out, each team shall select their initial three (3) penalty taking Players from within the entire roster of their squad, and register their names & numbers with the Referee. In case it is still a draw after the initial three (3) of each team, the winner shall be decided based on the sudden-death penalty shoot-out rule. In case it is still a draw after all the Players in either of the team’s roster have taken penalties, then the turn rotates and re-starts from the first (1st) Player in the initial three (3) penalty takers based on the sequence of Players and their shirt numbers as recorded by the Referee. The goalkeepers of the teams during the penalty shoot-outs can be chosen from any Player within the entire roster of their squad; however, (barring a serious injury situation) teams shall not change goalkeepers during the middle of a particular penalty shoot-out. The winner of the Final Matches (whether in regulation time or after a possible penalty shoot-out) in all of the competitions shall be declared as the champions of their respective competitions; whilst, of course, the winner of the Cup Competition being the Tournament Champion. Any event not covered above shall be discussed and decided by the Organizing Committee of German All Stars-Bangkok during the 2-day Tournament in consultation with the Referees Committee. Inevitably, but authoritatively, their decisions are final..! As always, best of luck to all the teams!
