Our main gathering of the week is our 10:30am Sunday service. This is when our whole church comes together - all ages and life stages, not-yet-believers and longterm-disciples. We come together to CONNECT with God and with our church community, through our contemporary style and inspiring services, which include anointed worship music, atmospheric and creative videos, media and lighting - all produced by our CreativeArts team. We hear the Bible taught in an applicable, practical, and easy-to-understand down-to-earth style by our team of speakers (in-house and guests), and spend some time together over coffee & snacks served by our Hospitality team (greeters & ushers, cafe, and Info desk). Elementary age and younger kids get to do their own version of this at their own event with GatewayKids. To find out about volunteering in our CreativeArts, Hospitality, or GatewayKids teams - please ask at the Info Desk or email us at info@gateway.ac. On the First Sunday of each month we have a special service (see next page) and on all other Sundays we focus on Worship & the Word. Our Lead Pastor, Martin Trench, will be doing two miniseries at our Worship & Word services.

Relationship Status This May, we will be looking at relationships - with God, with people, and with family members. The Bible is full of wise advice and practical examples of what works, and doesn’t work, when trying to connect with others. “In a relationship”, “Married with Kids”, and “It’s Complicated” are the three themes we will be looking at.
Discovering your Life-Purpose Do you struggle with trying to work out why you are here, what you should be doing with your life, and how you can make a living and make a difference at the same time? This mini-series in June is for you. We will look at how to effectively evaluate your life, how to discern God’s leading & guidance, and how to discover your life-purpose and fulfill it in a way that not only builds a successful career, but makes a difference in the world and brings fulfillment to you.
Often as a member of the congregation, we can easily forget the part we play in creating a culture of worship in the church. Though our leadership teams do their best to create an atmosphere of praise and worship in the church, the reality is that each one of us has a part to play in creating this atmosphere. A large part of our vision as a Creative Arts team is for each individual member of our congregation to be inspired and compelled to bring praises to God, and to be actively engaged in Worship (even when we don’t feel like it this is why it’s called a sacrifice of praise). JOINING OUR TEAM We are always in need of more people. If you are gifted creatively, please do not hesitate to contact me, as we need more people! Baptism is the outward expression of an inward decision of following Jesus and could be that next step of going public and Rising Higher. If you are ready to take this next step in your faith journey, we want to celebrate with you!
A service with a special emphasis on the Holy Spirit moving amongst us through worship, prayer, and an opportunity for the congregation to share words of prophecy and other spiritual gifts.

Powerful praise & worship, a testimony-style message about how God can impact our lives bringing salvation, healing, the fullness of the Spirit, deliverance and freedom - with a prayer-ministry time for everyone who wants to receive prayer.
Come and celebrate with us as we enjoy a multicultural service celebrating Canadians, old and new. Music, dance, and cultural dress will all feature as part of the service, along with a time of worship and a Biblical message. Stay after the service for a taste of various Canadian and ethnic delicacies in the foyer.

There is something about spring that brings about new life and new possibilities. We just finished our Vision Sunday, dreamed big for the future, and we saw so many of you GET IN THE MIDDLE of God’s work through your gifts and your generosity. It is always a blessing to be a part of a church where people are the Church. One of the changes we revealed was moving our service time from 10 am to 10:30 am. We want to thank you all for your input on this and helping us get a clear picture in moving forward in this decision. This change may seem superficial on the surface but is essential for the furthering of our 20/20 Vision. It will allow us to be better equipped to serve our teams who serve on Sunday morning, to both protect the time they give
and also create space to better disciple, build community, pray together, give training and build each other up. In so doing, we will be creating a better environment of hospitality for guests who come to Gateway and experience an environment that is both welcoming and helps them connect in deeper relationship with God and others. Lastly, this all will feed into the service and programs themselves, creating a greater atmosphere of engagement and excitement as we worship God, experience His presence and are inspired by His word. We are so excited for what God is doing at Gateway and is continuing to do. The best is yet to come.

At Gateway, we are passionate about kids and how they experience and perceive God, people and the world around them. Our priority and joy is to create a playful and exciting environment where kids get to develop an excellent understanding of the gospel, and experience first hand the power of Christ presented in the stories of the bible as they explore their relationship with God, the love He has for them, and how He can work through them, impacting the lives of those around them. In GatewayKids, all children from age 0 to grade 6 are provided a place to belong, believe and become all that God created them to be through our Nursery, Preschool, Early Elementary, Later Elementary and Preteen programs. If you have a child in GatewayKids, Family Helpers is an important opportunity for you to join them in their own Sunday Celebration! Pick one or two Sundays in the year to come and spend some time with your child and their friends, witness what their Sunday experience looks like and give a little back to the volunteers who care for your kids all year!
Get plugged into an action packed ministry where you will find community and mentorship as you contribute to the care and support of Gateway’s little ones and their families!

It’s great to be a part of a busy service. To worship God with a large crowd of people, and enjoy a service that has been well planned. All you need to do is show up. But in order to really GROW (to grow in your faith, your experiences with God, your relationships with other people) you need to be part of a group. Here at Gateway we call our small groups “House Churches” (most meet in homes, but some may meet in cafes or halls or at the church building). The Bible tells us that the early Christians met “publicly and in homes” (Acts 20:20) and it refers to these home gatherings as “house churches” (see Rom 16:5, Col 4:15, 1 Cor 16:19). These groups meet informally to eat together, socialize, worship, pray, read scripture and build community.
“All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals and the Lord’s Supper, and to prayer. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity, praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people.” Acts 2:42-47

Sr. High House Party
Jr. High Takeover
Sr. High House Party is for students in Grades 10-12 and takes places on Wednesday nights from 7-9 pm. This weekly gathering takes place in a private home, is hosted by a mature couple and led by youth leaders. The house party is an informal social gathering where spiritual growth, pastoral care, and discipleship can take place naturally!
Jr. High Takeover is for students in Grades 6-9 and takes place on Friday nights from 7-9 pm. This is a high-energy, action-packed night that provides the younger students to “takeover” the church. With church-wide games, challenging messages and time to build friendships, these are invariably impactful nights!

SUMMER EVENTS This summer we have a few exciting events planned that are open to all youth grades 6-12. JUNE 30 : Schools Out Pool Party! In celebration of the end of school, we are going to be heading out to a local families home for an end-ofschool pool party! It is going to be a ton of fun hanging out, playing games, eating free food and celebrating the official start of the summer. Further details TBA
AUG. 25 - 27 : End-of-Summer Youth Camping Trip We are going to be heading to William A. Switzer Provincial Park (an hour outside of Jasper) to get in one last weekend of relaxation before school returns! There will be opportunities to go swimming, hiking, and canoeing, as well as plenty of time to relax, play games, hang out and eat ... a lot! More details such as cost and registration will be announced shortly.

I was praying with someone during the worship service as they felt off spiritually and distant from God. The key word used was cloudy. Like they were in a haze spiritually and couldn’t really get into the service. A lot had been going on in their life at that point and they were extremely busy juggling so many things! As we were praying I saw a picture of hard soil that was dry and tired. When you would pour water on it, it wouldn’t soak up into the soil. The conditions of the soil did not allow it to get the nutrients of the water it needed. What he needed in the moment was a monsoon of God’s Spirit and presence to soften the hardness he was feeling. Then it hit me, he needed to get in the worship service, raise his hands, belt out the words, even if he didn’t feel like it, and let the work of God start there. He needed to position himself to receive from God. Because God isn’t withholding but he needed to get in the eye of the storm to have the soil replenished and made soft again. So that is exactly what he did, and what a difference it made. Even though every part of him didn’t feel like worshiping in the moment, he positioned himself in a mindset and posture to choose to receive.
See, this is the reality of many of us in our spiritual walk with God. We long for His presence and power in our lives, but many times the very thing we need to choose to do is the very thing that will position us to receive what God is wishing to give, do and do through us. Start your journey today by CONNECTING ON SUNDAY, GROWING IN COMMUNITY and SERVING ON A TEAM and GET IN THE MIDDLE of God’s love, God’s plan, and God’s work.
