γιατί κυκλάδες; Σε όποιο σημείο της Ελλάδας κι αν ταξιδέψω, όλο και κάτι διαφορετικό θα βρω που θα κάνει τον τόπο αυτόν ξεχωριστό. Ακόμα και στα χιλιάδες νησιά μας... σε όλα βρίσκω κάτι μοναδικό, ένα στοιχείο που τα χαρακτηρίζει και τα κάνει να διαφοροποιούν από τα άλλα. Όλα όμως; Όχι ακριβώς όλα... υπάρχει ένα σύμπλεγμα νησιών που διαφοροποιείται από τα όλα τα άλλα και που έχουν πολλά κοινά στοιχεία μεταξύ τους ...οι Κυκλάδες! Μια ομάδα νησιών με χαρακτηριστικό χρώμα το λευκό που τα κάνει ξεχωριστά από τα υπολοιπα νησιά της Ελλάδας. Τι σημαίνει όμως το λευκό για μένα και το θεωρώ τόσο σημαντικό; Πρώτα απ' όλα η γαλήνη που προσδίδει ...μια χρωματική ηρεμία την οποία αναζητώ στις διακοπές μου. Σε συνδυασμό μάλιστα με το γαλάζιο του ουρανού και πιο βαθύ μπλε της θάλασσας, τους γλάρους να πετούν συνέχεια από πάνω και τη μυρωδιά του θαλασσινού νερού... όλα αυτά με ωθούν να μην θέλω να φύγω ποτέ από εκεί. Αυτό όμως δεν είναι το στοιχείο που αναζητούμε όλοι στις διακοπές μας; Έναν τόπο που θα μας ηρεμεί και παράλληλα θα μας ταξιδεύει μακρυά από την καθημερινότητα της πόλης. Κι αν οι Κυκλάδες έχουν ως κοινό στοιχείο μεταξύ τους το χρώμα, υπάρχουν άλλα στοιχεία που τις κάνει να διαφοροποιούνται μεταξύ τους. Αλλού συναντάς την έντονη νυχτερινή ζωή, αλλού την χαλάρωση, αλλού και τα δύο μαζί ...γιατί έτσι είναι οι Κυκλάδες και γι αυτό τις αγαπώ. Ανακαλύψτε τες !!!

why cyclades? At which ever part of Greece may I travel, I will always find something different that makes this place special. Even at our thousand islands …at every one I can find something unique, an element that marks them and makes them differ from each other. All of them ? Not exactly all of them …There is a complex of islands that differs from the other, but have many similarities among themselves …Cyclades! A group of islands with the distinctive white color which makes the difference from the rest of the islands of Greece. Why is whit such of big importance to me? First of all the serenity that adds to a colorful peace that I seek at my holidays. In combine, in fact, with the blue sky, and the deep blue of the sea, the seagulls flying all the time above and the smell of the sea water …all that convince urges me not to ever go away from there. Is this not the element everyone seeks in our holidays? A place that calms us and at the same time travel us away from the city’s everyday life. Even if Cyclades have the color as the common characteristic, there are other elements that makes them differ from each other. At some islands of Cyclades you can find intense night life, at some other you can find relaxation, at another island you can find both… because that’s what Cyclades are all about and that’s why I love them. Discover them !!!

Η Olympic Air συνδέει την Αθήνα με Μύκονο, Μήλο, Νάξο, Πάρο, Σύρο και Σαντορίνη. Η Aegean Airlines πετά από Αθήνα και Θεσσαλονίκη για Μύκονο και Σαντορίνη. Τα νησιά των Κυκλάδων δεν συνδέονται μεταξύ τους αεροπορικώς. Οι ακτοπλοϊκές διαδρομές χωρίζουν τις Κυκλάδες στις δυτικές, βόρειες, κεντρικές και ανατολικές υποομάδες νησιών. Οι κεντρικές Κυκλάδες (Πάρος, Νάξος, Ίος & Σαντορίνη) έχουν τις καλύτερες συνδέσεις με την ηπειρωτική χώρα, συνήθως με τον Πειραιά. Οι βόρειες Κυκλάδες (Άνδρος, Τήνος, Σύρος και Μύκονος) επίσης έχουν καλές συνδέσεις. Οι δυτικές Κυκλάδες (Κέα, Κύθνος, Μήλος, Σέριφος, Σίφνος, Φολέγανδρος και Σίκινος) έχουν λιγότερο συχνές συνδέσεις με την ηπειρωτική χώρα. Οι ανατολικές Κυκλάδες (Ανάφη, Αμοργός, Ηράκλεια, Σχοινούσα, Κουφονήσια και Δονούσα) έχουν τις πιο αραιές συνδέσεις. Επίσης, υπάρχει δρομολόγια από το Ηράκλειο Κρήτης για Θήρα - Ίο - Πάρο - Μύκονο. Αν και μπορούν να ταξιδέψουν ταχύτερα, παίρνουν συχνά περισσότερο χρόνο για να φτάσουν στον προορισμό τους, λόγω των πολλών στάσεων που κάνουν και της ευαισθησίας που έχουν στις κακές καιρικές συνθήκες. Επίσης, τα Super Jet καλύπτουν Μήλο - Φολέγανδρο - Σύρο - Σαντορίνη - Κουφονήσι – Αμοργό και από Ραφήνα για Τήνο - Μύκονο Πάρο. Επιπλέον, υπάρχουν δρομολόγια από Ηράκλειο για Σαντορίνη - Ίο - Πάρο - Νάξο Μύκονο, Σαντορίνη - Φολέγανδρο - Αμοργό Κουφονήσια - Νάξο - Μύκονο. Τα συμβατικά πλοία καλύπτουν τα ίδια δρομολόγια με τη διαφορά ότι προσεγγίζουν και Αμοργό, Ηράκλεια, Σχοινούσα, Δονούσα καθώς και Ανάφη, Σίκινο, Κύθνο, Κίμωλο και Κέα. Olympic Air connects Athens with Mykonos, Milos, Naxos, Paros, Syros & Santorini. Aegean Airlines flies from Athens and Thessaloniki to Mykonos and Santorini. At the moment, there are no inter-island connections. The ferry routes tend to separate the Cyclades into western, northern, central and eastern subgroups. The central Cyclades (Paros, Naxos, Ios & Santorini) are the most visited and have the best links with the mainland, usually Piraeus. The northern Cyclades (Andros, Tinos, Syros and Mykonos) also have good connections. The western Cyclades (Kea, Kythnos, Milos, Serifos, Sifnos, Folegandros and Sikinos) have less frequent connections with the mainland and eastern Cyclades (Anafi, Amorgos, Iraklia, Shinousa, Koufonisia and Donoysa) have the fewest links. In the summer, there are daily hydrofoils from Piraeus to Syros - Tinos - Mykonos, Paros Naxos - Ios - Santorini, Serifos - Sifnos - Milos and from Rafina port to Andros - Tinos Mykonos - Naxos. There are also, hydrofoils from Iraklio (Crete) to Santorini - Ios - Paros Naxos - Mykonos, Santorini - Folegandros Amorgos - Koufonisia - Naxos - Mykonos. Although Hydrofoils can travel faster than ferries, they often take longer to reach their destination because of the frequent stops and their susceptibility to adverse weather conditions. Furthermore, there are Super Jet schedules for Milos - Folegandros - Syros - Santorini Koufonisia - Amorgos and from Rafina port to Tinos - Mykonos - Paros. There are also connections from Iraklio (Crete) with Santorini Ios - Paros - Naxos - Mykonos and Santorini Folegandros - Amorgos - Koufonisia - Naxos Mykonos. The conventional ferries cover the same routes as well as Amorgos, Iraklia, Shinousa, Donousa and Anafi, Sikinos, Kythnos, Kimolos, Kea. There are relatively good ferry connections within each of the western, northern, central and eastern subgroups but infrequent connections betweenthedifferentsubgroups. MG

MYKONOS GAY GUIDE & THE CYCLADES ISLANDS | THE PELICAN STORY...

Θα ήταν αρχές του 1950... μόλις ο κόσμος είχε αρχίσει να χαίρεται τη ζωή μετά τον 4o Παγκόσμιο πόλεμο. Η Ελλάδα ήταν μία από τις πιο χτυπημένες χώρες και τα σημάδια της φτώχιας ήταν αισθητά ή Μύκονος ήταν ένα γραφικό ψαροχώρι. Λίγοι και εκλεκτοί επισκέπτες, Έλληνες & ξένοι καλλιτέχνες και άνθρωποι των γραμμάτων, την είχαν ανακαλύψει μαζί με την αρχαία Δήλο σαν τόπο διακοπών. Ξεχώριζε για την κυβιστική αρχιτεκτονική της και το σεληνιακό τοπίο. Μία από τις ιδιαιτερότητές της ήταν και ο καιρός, η ζέστη εναλλασσόταν με τα αεράκια και τους δυνατούς βοριάδες.

το νησί αυτό κάθε χρόνο περνούν και κάνουν στάση αποδημητικά πουλιά που κατεβαίνουν μέχρι την Αίγυπτο. Έτσι, εκείνο το καλοκαίρι πέταξαν από πάνω πελεκάνοι και ένα ζευγάρι από αυτά γέννησε στα βράχια της Δήλου ένα αυγό. Αλλά, μια καταιγίδα σκότωσε τους δύο γονείς και το νεογέννητο πελεκανάκι που μόλις είχε αλλάξει τα πρώτα του φτερά από καφέ σε λευκά και ρόζ έκλαιγε όταν το άκουσαν ο Θοδωρής και ο Αντώνης, δύο ψαράδες από την Μύκονο. Η γνωριμία του μικρού αυτού Πελεκάνου με τον Θοδωρή ήταν καρμική και εξελίχτηκε σε μια μεγάλη φιλία! Φέρνοντας το μικρό παράξενο πουλί στη Μύκονο, έγινε σύντομα το γούρι και το σύμβολο του τουρισμού του νησιού. Άλλωστε, η ταύτιση με την αφθονία υπήρχε από τα αρχαία χρόνια, γι αυτό και στις βάσεις των αναθηματικών φαλών της Δήλου είναι ανάγλυφα απεικονισμένοι πελεκάνοι. Έτσι, ο μικρός πελεκάνος που τον βάπτισαν Πέτρο, έγινε φίλος με όλους, πόζαρε στους τουρίστες και έπαιζε με τα παιδιά. Σύντομα, έκανε ακόμα τρείς φίλους από το ζωικό βασίλειο, τον πελαργό Νικήτα, τον πελεκάνο Δήμο που τον είχαν φέρει κι αυτόν πληγωμένο από την Άνδρο, και την δύσκολη Ειρήνη, έναν πελεκάνο που είχαν φέρει Γάλλοι κινηματογραφιστές. Ο Πέτρος μεγάλωσε και άρχισε να πετάει συχνά μέχρι τα κοντινά νησιά. Έτσι, κάποια στιγμή τον έκλεψαν από την Τήνο,

κόβοντάς του τα φτερά για να μη φύγει, αλλά όταν το αντιλήφθηκαν οι Μυκονιάτες, επιτέθηκαν και τον έφεραν πίσω στο νησί. Σύντομα, ζητήθηκε επίσημα από το δήμο της Μυκόνου ο πελεκάνος αυτός να είναι ο επίσημος καλεσμένος στα εγκαίνια εστιατόριου της Νέας Υόρκης. Ο Πέτρος θα γινόταν ο πρέσβης του Ελληνικού τουρισμού στην υφήλιο! Οι Μυκονιάτες φοβήθηκαν όμως μην πάθει κάτι κατά το υπερατλαντικό ταξίδι και τότε ο Δήμος σαν σωσίας τον αντικατέστησε. Μετά την επιστροφή του Πέτρου από την Αμερική, τον πάντρεψαν με την Ειρήνη με όλα τα πατροπαράδοτα Μυκονιάτικα έθιμα. Τα επόμενα χρόνια ήταν σκληρά για τον Πέτρο. Μια μέρα όπως περπάταγε στα στενά μια παρέα τουριστών του επιτέθηκε σπάζοντας του τα φτερά και το πόδι αλλά τους πρόλαβε ο Θοδωρής κυνηγώντας τους. Περιέθαλψε με πατρική στοργή τον φίλο του Πέτρο κρατώντας τον στο σπίτι του για δύο βδομάδες. Σαν επέστρεψε στην καθημερινότητά του ο Πέτρος, ανακάλυψε πως ο Δήμος είχε σκοτωθεί στον ύπνο του από ένα ταξί. Μετά από λίγο καιρό πέθανε και ο Νικήτας, μα το μεγαλύτερο για αυτόν χτύπημα ήταν μια ανοιξιάτικη μέρα του 1975, που ο Θοδωρής έπινε στο καφενείο με φίλους του και χαμογελαστός έπεσε κάτω φεύγοντας από αυτό τον κόσμο. Σε ένδειξη πένθους δεν ξαναπέταξε ποτέ και μετά την πρωινή του βόλτα κούρνιαζε στην καρέκλα ενός εστιατόριου στην Αλευκάντρα.

So, that summer pelican were flying above the island, one of those pairs had an egg at the rocks of Delos. But one storm killed both parents and the newborn pelican, which just had changed his first feathers from brown to white and pink, was crying when Theodoris and Adonis heard it, two Mykonian fishermen. The acquaintance of the little pelican with Theodoris was karmic and evolved into a big friendship.

Τότε, η τουριστική εταιρία του Μονάχου “Rudolf Kastele of Ists” έστειλε έναν νέο πελεκάνο που είχε γεννηθεί πριν τρία χρόνια στο ζωολογικό κήπο

Gelsenkirchen για να τον διαδεχτεί . Ο Πέτρος ο Β΄ έφτασε στο λιμάνι της Μυκόνου επίσημα και γρήγορα απέκτησε όλες τις συνήθειες του πρώτου πελεκάνου. Έχει προσωπικό του φίλο τον Ηλία τον μεταφορέα και είναι ο επίσημος ζωντανός μύθος αλλά και πρεσβευτής της Μυκόνου. That's how, the little pelican which were baptized Peter, became friend with everybody, posed for the tourists and played with children. Soon he made another three friends from the animal kingdom, Nikitas a stork, Dimos a pelican which was brought wounded from Andros island and tough Irini a pelican which was brought by French film-makers.

they attacked him, breaking his wings and foot, but Theodoris caught them after chasing them. He treated his friend Peter with fatherly affection by keeping him home for two weeks. When Peter went back to his every day life, he discovered that Demos had been killed at his sleep by a taxi. After a while Nikita died as well. But the biggest struck for him was a spring day of 1975, when as Theodoris was drinking coffee with his friends smiling died suddenly – leaving this world. As an act of mourning Peter never flew again and after his morning walk he would perch in a chair of a restaurant in Alefkandra.

Peter was raised and was flying often to the nearest islands. So, at some point he had been stolen from the island of Tinos by cutting of his wings so to prevent him of escaping, but when the Mykonians understood what has happened, they attacked and brought him back to the island.

At the beginning of the touristic period of 1985, and while Peter was taking his morning walk at the seashore of the island, an abstracted driver hit him. In vain people transported him with an helicopter to the university hospital of Thessaloniki, the god sent pelican had flown for ever to the company of the angels. Then, the tourist company of Munich ''Rudolf Kastele of Ists'' send a new pelican which was born 3 years ago at the ''Gelsenkirchen'' Zoo in order to success him.

Soon it was asked officially from the state of Mykonos that the specific pelican must attend as official guest at a grand opening of a restaurant in New York. Peter would become ambassador of the Greek Tourism to the whole world. Mykonians were afraid of something happening to him due to the cross Atlantic voyage and then Demos as a double replaced him. After his return from the N.Y. they married him to Irini with all the Mykonian traditional customs. The next years were tough for Peter. One day as a group of tourists were walking down the street,

He is a living myth but also an ambassador of Mykonos. You will find him walking up and down proud and care – free at the narrow streets, around the seaside. MG

Before you reach in the top, on your left side hand (at the end of the hotel), turn to the left in a small path that appears as impasse from the dense bushes. In the end you meet another path that it leads to the sea to a wonderful gulf. There is some gay cruising in the trees and the beach is ideal for nudism (with gay and mixed couples) as it is protected from the eyes by curious people.
