EQUUS tells the story of a psychiatrist who attempts to treat a young man who has a pathological, religious fascination with horses. An explosive play that took critics and audiences by storm; Equus is Peter Shaffer’s exploration of the way modern society has destroyed our ability to feel passion. Alan Strang is a disturbed youth whose dangerous obsession with horses leads him to commit an unspeakable act of violence. As psychiatrist Martin Dysart struggles to understand the motivation for Alan’s brutality, he is increasingly drawn into Alan’s web and eventually forced to question his own sanity. Equus is a timeless classic and a cornerstone of contemporary drama that delves into the darkest recesses of human existence. Equus was held from February 4th until February 21st, 2015. 38

e’ve received news that gay activist Konrad Juengling and Robert Peterson are engaged. The information came to us after seeing a congratulations for the pair on Latrice Royale’s Facebook page. Royale, of RuPaul’s Drag Race fame, shared: “Congratulations to gay activist Konrad Juengling and his fiancee Robert Peterson, who just got engaged last month! Thanks for all you do for the community and keep making them #eatit!!!” Juengling writes for PQ Monthly, GeeksOUT, and the Q Center in Portland, Oregon. He’s also written op-eds for The Washington Blade, GayRVA, Q Salt Lake, and Purple Unions. Juengling’s messages include updates on marriage equality, the importance of queer ethical consumerism, interviews with gay organizations, and other related issues. Juengling has helped to raise GeeksOUT’s profile after their ‘Skip Ender’s Game’ campaign in 2013-14. The news that he is getting married is especially poignant since Oregon, the state that he lives in in the United States, just received marriage equality last year. His fiancé, Robert W. Peterson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, has a Masters in accounting, which he earned at the University of New Mexico. He works in finance and moved up to Portland from Albuquerque for a job promotion in December 2011. The two met through mutual acquaintances in September of 2012. The proposal, a surprise at the International Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, happened just shy of their two year anniversary. Peterson proposed on October 11, 2014, which is National Coming Out Day in America. The date of their wedding has been set for August 28th, 2016, and will be held at Silver Falls State Park in Oregon. The stone lodge they will have the ceremony

and reception in is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Juengling comes from a family of people involved in the arts: He is the son of author Dr. Fritz Juengling and Holly E. N. Juengling, the nephew of Emmy Awardnominated Dietrich Juengling, the nephew of author Dr. Zachary Nelson, and the great-nephew of author Sybil Gibson Higley. He is also a direct descendant of King Henry the Folwer of Germany. After seeing photos of his blonde hair and 6’4’’ frame, the German descent doesn’t come as a surprise. Peterson is the son of Stephan “Steve” Peterson and Rebecca “Becky” Smith Peterson of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Juengling and Peterson will be in Mexico next for the wedding of Peterson’s sister in the summer. Jessica “Jessie” Peterson will be marrying Ramon Vargas in at the Now Sapphire Rivera Resort in Cancun, Mexico, for which most of the Peterson family will be present. Jessica and Ramon are also graduates of the University of New Mexico. A congratulations for Konrad and Robert, who can enjoy the bliss of being engaged before their big day. Now we’re have to wait to see – will they be honeymooning in Mexico?

ow did you guys first
-We met though a mutual friend 9 and 1/2 years ago at a birthday party. It was love at first sight and the entire next week we continued to run into each other all over our home town of Salt Lake City. I played hard to get but finally fell head over heels for Tyler a week later. Tyler gave me a promise ring on our first anniversary, June 11th and we moved in together. On Valentine’s Day the following year I gave Tyler a promise ring. We never thought that we would ever be able to marry, so we left it at that. Since the ruling of gay marriage, we have talked about it and now we are ready. So what better place than PVR to ask Tyler to marry me? It was Thanksgiving morning 2014 and we were off to Green Chairs for breakfast and a beach day. When we arrived our friend and waiter had us front and center on the beach. We ordered our Miami Vices and I placed the promise ring I had given Tyler oh so many years ago next to them and asked him to marry me. He was surprised and I was nervous. He said yes and it was the best Thanksgiving ever. Tyler Barlow is from Salt Lake City, Utah and Shawn Jackson is from Idaho Falls, Idaho.

¿Cómo se conocieron por vez primera? -Nos conocimos a través de un amigo común hace 9 años y medio en una fiesta de cumpleaños. Fue amor a primera vista y toda la semana siguiente nos seguimos buscando el uno al otro por todo nuestro pueblo natal de Salt Lake City. Me costó algo de trabajo, pero finalmente Tyler cayó perdidamente una semana después. Tyler me dio un anillo de compromiso en nuestro primer aniversario el 11 de junio y despues nos mudamos a vivir juntos. En el Día de San Valentín el año siguiente le di a Tyler un anillo de compromiso. Nunca pensamos que íbamos a ser
capaces de casarnos, así que dejamos las cosas así. Desde la aprobación del matrimonio gay, hemos hablado de ello y ahora estamos listos. Entonces, ¿qué mejor lugar que Puerto Vallarta para pedir a Tyler que se case conmigo? Era la mañana del día de Acción de Gracias del 2014 y nos fuimos a Green Chairs para desayunar y tener un día de playa. Cuando llegamos ahi, nuestro
amigo y camarero nos colocó en una palapa al centro en la playa. Pedimos nuestros Miami Vices y coloqué el anillo de compromiso que le había dado a Tyler hace tantos años a su lado y le pedí que se casara conmigo. Él se sorprendió y yo estaba nervioso. Él dijo que sí y que era el mejor Dia de Accion de Gracias que podía imaginar. Tyler Barlow es de Salt Lake City, Utah y Shawn Jackson es de Idaho Falls, Idaho. GAYPV: ¿Por qué elegiste Puerto Vallarta? Andrew Christian: Yo había
estado buscando un escape de vacaciones y los dos principales destinos consideré eran Tailandia y Puerto Vallarta. Escogí Puerto Vallarta debido a la fuerte comunidad que vive aquí. Eso fue muy importante. También tengo en Palm Springs. Puerto Vallarta tiene varias otras cosas que me parecieron muy atractivas. La comida y la gente. Estoy con sede en Los Ángeles por lo que son sólo 2 1/2 horas de allí, asi que era muy conveniente para mí tener una casa aquí. Es también un gran lugar para poder volver a estar en contacto con mis raíces y cultura mexicanas.

ndrew Christian, inter-
national fashion designer recently visited Puerto Vallarta this year. He is Latino (Mexican/ American) and was raised in Fresno, California. He loves Puerto Vallarta and in fact now owns a penthouse in the Signature by Pinnacle building.
GAYPV: Why did you choose Puerto Vallarta? Andrew Christian: I had been looking for
a vacation escape and the two main destinations I considered were Thailand and Puerto Vallarta. I chose Puerto Vallarta because of the strong gay community that lives here. That was very important. I also own in Palm Springs. Puerto Vallarta has several other things that I found attractive. Great food and great people. I am based in Los Angeles so being only 2 1/2 hours from there was very convenient for me to have a home here. It’s also a great place for me to get back in touch with my Mexican roots and culture.
G: You will be back for sure in May for Vallarta Pride 2015? AC: Yes I am coming back
in the garment industry so I understand the technical aspects required to make a pair of underwear.
G: What about your involvement in the very successful marketing aspect of Andrew Christian. AC: I am more the creative director of this
department and direct the team to produce the marketing campaign especially the very successful Andrew Christian videos.
G: What is the philosophy of Andrew Christian in terms distribution? AC: We don’t chase every store to sell
Andrew Christian. We focus on creating the demand for the product so the store will want to carry Andrew Christian. I also feel it’s important to entertain and inspire people to be proud of who they are. If it was not for the fact that I am gay I would not be as successful as I am. Being gay and the gay community worldwide has made me who I am today. G: Your number one product is underwear. How much of Andrew Christian is underwear? AC: 70%. Gay men love their
underwear.
G: What are the new developments with your brand?
