WELCOME Dear Basketball Fans: Welcome to the inaugural All-American Championship! Our goal from the start has been to provide avid fans of college basketball the chance to see the next generation of All-Americans in person. We believe we have done just that. The players you are going to see today have committed to play for some of the nation’s elite college basketball programs – Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Boston College, Connecticut, Duke, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Rutgers, St. John’s, Stanford, Texas, UCLA, Vanderbilt, Villanova, and West Virginia. They represent the best that high school basketball has to offer. ABOUT THE EVENT Tlaunch of a high school boys basketball

he Gazelle Group is proud to announce the

invitational tournament - the All-American Championship - to take place annually during the men’s collegiate basketball championship. “This is an idea whose time has come,” says Rick Giles, president of The Gazelle Group. “The nation’s focus is on basketball during March and the first weekend of April and there is no better way to increase that focus than to bring the nation’s best high school basketball players to the city of the men’s collegiate basketball championship to compete in what will be one of the premier events of its kind in the country.”

The inaugural All-American Championship is being held in Houston, Texas, site of the men’s collegiate basketball championship, on April 3, 2011. The event consists of four teams representing each region of the country. The doubleheader will open with the North facing the South, followed by the East vs. the West in the nightcap. The games are being played at the 6,400-seat M.O. Campbell Educational Center.

A panel of the nation’s most respected media covering high school basketball serves as the selection committee for the All-American Championship:

A panel of high school basketball experts reviewed all candidates and selected the teams. Each team is being coached by a head coach of a nationally-prominent high school program and assisted by a coach from the host city of the men’s collegiate basketball championship (Houston for 2011). “National interest in high school basketball and recruiting is at an all-time high,” says Giles. “With the proliferation of television coverage and recruiting websites and magazines, fans are more aware than ever of the premier high school players. This is an opportunity for these players to showcase their talent on the biggest stage in the country.”

ABOUT THE EVENT M.O. Campbell Center

Houston, Texas

The M.O. Campbell Center is Aldine ISD's multipurpose facility, hosting a wide array of events from graduations and theatrical performances, athletic tournaments and conferences, to banquets and more.

Houston is the fourth-largest city in the United States and the largest in Texas, with a population in excess of 2.3 million. Houston’s economy has a broad industrial base in the energy, manufacturing, aeronautics, transportation, and health care sectors and is a leading center for building oilfield equipment. Only New York City is home to more Fortune 500 headquarters in the city limits. The gross area product (GAP) of the greater Houston metropolitan area, which includes 5.9 million people, was $440.4 billion in 2008.

The Campbell Center is named after former Aldine ISD superintendent M.O. Campbell. One of the premier and world class facilities in Houston, it stretches across a vast area of 111,000 square feet and features state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment. Sporting events, award ceremonies, conferences, lectures, and receptions are regularly held here. The Campbell Center is conveniently located 3.5 miles southwest of the George Bush Intercontinental airport (IAH) and just 12 miles north of spectacular downtown Houston.

Did You Know… In 1969, “Houston” was the first word spoken from the moon. The Apollo 11 mission established a place in history for the city when astronaut Neil Armstrong spoke the now-famous line, “Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed.”

Cortez Hale Perspective Charter School (Joslin, Ill.) North Assistant Coach Just concluded his first season as head coach at Perspectives MSA/Joslin…was named head coach after serving for one year as varsity assistant and one year as freshman/sophomore head coach… at 26, he is one of the youngest head coaches in Illinois…played college ball at Rockford College and Concordia University, earning three letters… graduated from Concordia with a business management degree.
