Mr. Daniel W. Reedy Jr. 67 entered into eternal rest July 3, 2021 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. He was born to Daniel Reedy Sr. and the late Dorothy Hunt Reedy on February 26, 1954. He recieved his early education in Newport News Public Schools where he graduated from Warwick High School in 1972. He continued his education at Virginia State College where he majored in Business Administration. Daniel was preceded in death by his mother, his grandmother Laura B. Hunt, his grandfather Robert Hunt, his uncle Robert Willis “Bobby” Hunt, and his granddaughter Tanika D. Jones, and a host of other relatives. Left to Cherish his precious memories are his wife of 30 years Cynthia Y. Langford Reedy, his son Davell Jones (Tanisha), his bonus children Brian Langford
(Chavela) and Shakish Swain ( John), his brothers Garry Reedy (Kathy) and Andre Reedy (Gail), his grandchildren Tareek, Jakee, Jarrell, Mya, Briana, London and Carsyn, his nephews Garry M. Reedy II (Christina), Andre Hayes (Erica), Chaz Henderson (Shavon), and Jarrod, his niece Kristin Austin (Larry), and a host of many other family members and friends. “Champ”, as he was affectionately called by many was a beautiful soul. He was a loving devoted husband, a great dad, and a awesome role model to family and friends. His kind heart, his smile, and his laughter touched many. He loved telling inspiring stories, especially to the younger generation. He would always say to them that, “life is a gift, and don’t let your gift be in vain”. Champ’s outgoing personality, his ability to make others feel comfortable, and his gentle spirit is why so many loved and gravitated to him. He truly was a people person. Champ had a very strong work ethic. He was a very devoted and dependable worker. His philosophy was to do your best at whatever you do, work your job as if it was your business, and always go an extra mile or two. When he was not at work, he enjoyed working in the yard. He enjoyed attending family gatherings, mingling with love ones and friends, and reflecting on old times. Champ loved dressing. He had impeccable style. He was always sharp whenever he stepped out. Champ was a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan. Champ was employed by Laborers District Council of VA for 35 years where he worked various jobs. At the time of his retirement in 2020 he was employed by DPR. Champ’s time on earth was not left in vain. He accepted God as his Lord and Savior at a very young age. He passed on his life stories and life experiences in hopes that it would help someone along the way. He was at his best when he was giving words of encouragement to others. He worked hard to take care of his family. Although he is gone from this earth, he will never be gone in spirit. I take comfort in cherishing all of the beautiful memories that we created. Champ, my husband will live in my heart for the rest of my life. We didn’t want him to leave us, but God called him home. We take comfort in knowing that we will see him again, but until that time comes, Rest in Peace my Love. You are so loved and you meant so much to our family.

Perhaps you sent a lovely card, or sat quietly in a chair. Perhaps you sent those beautiful flowers that we saw sitting there. Perhaps you spoke the kindest words, as any friend could say. Perhaps you were not there at all, just thought of us that day. Whatever you did to console our hearts we thank you so much for whatever part. The family wishes to thank everyone for your calls, prayers, kind words and condolences as we celebrate the life and legacy of our son and brother during this time of loss. We deeply appreciate your expression of sympathy, your thoughtfulness, all the love and prayers sent our way.
