MISS ME BUT LET ME GO
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set on me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room, Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little--but not too long, And not with your head bowed low, Remember the love that we once shared, Miss me--but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take, And each must go alone. It’s all a part of the Master’s plan, A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart, Go to the friends we know.
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds, Miss me--but let me go.

A LIFE WORTH CELEBRATING MYRON BARNES
January 30th, 1969 – August 6th, 2024
Myron “Snoop” Barnes, a man who lived life with unparalleled passion, peacefully transitioned on August 6th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 30th, 1969, in Norfolk, VA, Myron’s zest for life was as infectious as his smile, making him a beloved figure in the Norfolk communities. His presence was undeniable, whether he was lighting up the dance floor, manning the grill, or cheering on his favorite team—the Dallas Cowboys.
Myron was a dedicated worker, known for his tireless commitment as a floor tech. Since 2018, he was a valued member of The Chesapeake, where his work ethic was unmatched. Even on days when he wasn’t feeling his best, he would still show up, a testament to his determination and sense of responsibility. To Myron, dedication wasn’t just a word—it was a way of life.
Outside of work, Myron was a man who loved people. Known to many as “Snoop,” he had a gift for bringing joy to those around him. A selfproclaimed grill master, Myron believed there was no better cookout than one with him at the helm. He wasn’t just about food, though—he was about creating experiences. Myron had a talent for turning any gathering into a celebration, with his dance moves often being the spark that ignited the party. He could walk into an empty room and start dancing until everyone joined him, his energy drawing people together.
But if there was one thing Myron loved as much as life itself, it was the Dallas Cowboys. A die-hard fan, he rode the highs and lows of each season with unshakeable loyalty. After a tough loss, you could tell how much he cared—his Cowboys flag would be conspicuously absent from the house. Yet, come the next week, he was back to being their biggest supporter, ready to defend his team against any criticism, but only when it came from others. To Myron, the Cowboys were family.
A man of impeccable style, Myron believed in looking good and making sure his loved ones did too. He was always dressed to the nines, a trait he passed down, especially to his grandson Bernard Washington Jr., affectionately known as BJ, who he made sure was always “fly.” Myron’s love for his family was evident in everything he did. He was a man of his word, someone who believed in doing right by others. If he made a promise, he kept it, and if he was wrong, he apologized. Myron had a heart of gold, always ready to give, especially when he knew your intentions were true.
Myron leaves behind his beloved wife, Barbara Barnes, and his children Mynisha George and Erika Hardy. He was a devoted grandfather, and his grandson BJ was the apple of his eye. He is also survived by his sisters Felicia Bly, Lashawn SharpBarnes, and Robin Ritter. Though he is now reunited with his parents, Estelle Barnes and Bernard Morgan, Myron’s spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Myron “Snoop” Barnes was an amazing man, one who got along with everyone and loved with all his heart. He believed in the power of family and the importance of showing love. As we remember him, let us continue to celebrate the life he lived—a life full of joy, laughter, and unwavering loyalty.
Rest in peace, Myron. Your legacy of love, family, and Cowboys fandom will never be forgotten.
