Interview with “Countafitt” How did you find out about GBOB? We entered the competition about 4 years ago and thought we would give it another go. Musical Influences? Guns & Roses, Jimi Hendrix, Zepplin. Describe your sound? Heavy Rock.
It was a fun night at this year’s Tamworth GBOB Heat held at The Family Hotel. With a variety of local talent showcased on the night, the panel of industry judges were highly impressed at the quality of the night’s performances. There was a great turn out, with people from all over Tamworth coming to support their hometown musicians, with Countafitt taking out the 1st Place spot in the end. Young band Blu came a close second.
What are you looking forward to most in the competition? Mainly the exposure; getting seen and known, as well as meeting other musos...There are sweet prizes too. How did you form and how long have you been together? We started the band about 5 years ago. We were from different bands when we were younger. We’ve always been friends and just decided to start a band together. How did you find the local Heat? Heaps of fun.

Launceston Held at the Hotel New York, this Heat represented some of the best talent seen in Launceston so far. With an impressive turn out, it wasn’t only the crowd, but also the industry judges who were excited to see the acts on the night. In a tight finish, it was newly formed Monte Cassino who stunned everyone and took out the winning position. Interview with “Monte Cassino” How did you find out about GBOB? We actually asked to go in it after one member was approached re the judging panel. What are your Musical Influences? We each listen to different things so we’re all influenced by different bands.
What are you looking forward to most As a new lineup, we mainly want more practice and the experience. How did you form and how long have you been together? About a month. We were originally going to be a backing band for a good female singer.
How would you describe your sound? Garage Rock; raw, fast and fun. Launceston winners, Monte Cassino

Hobart Interview with “Fatty Esther” How did you find out about GBOB? I stumbled across GBOB when good friends from other bands who’d competed in previous years, told me about it. Musical Influences? A lot of different influences, mainly based around the punk rock scene, like the Ramones, U.K Subs and Rancid. Also the idea of grunge and folk.
A great night was had at the Brisbane Hotel during the Hobart Heat of GBOB. With qualified judges and a responsive crowd, the atmosphere on the night was amazing and the artists who performed welcomed it with open arms. After a number of excellent acts on the night, the band Fatty Esther was crowned the Hobart winner for this season.
How would you describe your sound? Our sound is a dirty punk sound yet we maintain the originality that we seek. What are you looking forward to most in the competition? We are looking forward to meeting other bands and hopefully travelling around and playing shows.

Interview with “ SWORF ” How did you find out about GBOB? Through Facebook Musical Influences? Mainly Australia rock, like Grinspoon and The Butterfly Effect How would you describe your sound? Energetic, hard rock
Cairns winners, SWORF
Held at Cazalys, the Cairns heat of the competition represented a great variety of local talent. With a big turnout eager to cheer on their hometown musicians, the judges were more than impressed by the quality of the acts. At the end of the night, energetic rockers SWORF had taken out the title of Cairns Winners, to represent Nth Qld in the Australasian Final scheduled for Aug 2013.
What are you looking forward to most in the competition? Playing with other bands who have the talent to go through the round. It’s a really good opportunity. How did you form and how long have you been together? We were originally a cover band before playing our own songs and have been together 6 months.

Post grunge, rock alternative What are you looking forward to most in the competition? Playing to new fans, putting on a good show, trying to win the prizes! How did you form and how long have you been together? We were all friends and formed Cardiology in 2010.
