Every child has a story, and our Clubs are full of them.

Digital Version

What does 2,591 kids look like?

It’s enough to fill 65 school buses, all traveling together toward bright futures. or

You could create 216 soccer teams, each one filled with teamwork and fun. or

If every child held hands, they’d form a chain stretching over 2 miles, connecting neighborhoods and communities across Napa Valley. or

To serve them all snacks, you’d need to bake over 40,000 cookies over a school year. that’s a whole lot of afterschool energy!

Every child has a story, and right now our Clubs are full of them.

At Willow, 200 kids are exploring their passions whether it’s learning to code in our STEM program, painting their first masterpiece, or building lifelong friendships on the basketball court.

At the American Canyon Clubhouse, 200 kids are thriving academically and emotionally, many of them achieving higher test scores thanks to the homework help and mentorship provided after school.

Over at NVLA, the largest of our locations, 300 kids find a second home each day. Among them is Ana, a 5th grader who says, “The Club helps me feel safe, and I can ask for help with school when I don’t understand.”

Across all 12 locations, 2,591 stories are unfolding stories of resilience, confidence, and discovery. For some kids, it’s the first time they’ve picked up a paintbrush or spoken in front of a group. For others, it’s where they’ve found their voice, their passion, or simply a place where they belong.

Every number represents a life we’re changing: a quiet kid who found the courage to join a team, a student who got an A because they had homework help, or a teen who sees a brighter future because of the leadership programs at their Club.

Imagine this: If every one of Napa Valley’s 500 wineries adopted a portion of the 20,000 children living in the county, each winery would have about 40 young dreamers running through its vines. That's the future generation our valley is growing—right alongside its world-class wines.

If we Reflected the Clubs Enrollment based on the stage of their education:

The New Crop (5-9 years): 1,900 young learners just beginning their journey, like grapes ready for harvest.

The Developing Vintage (10-12 years): 1,200 pre-teens maturing with curiosity and purpose.

The Full-Bodied Future (13-18 years): 150 teens ready to take on the world with depth and resilience.”

If every child we serve at the Boys & Girls Club were a grape vine, you could produce 3,000 bottles of wine. Together, they’d fill a cellar brimming with hope, dreams, and bright futures.

= 100 kids

1) Afterschool programs challenge kids to step outside their comfort zones, discover their talents, build relationships and connect with great futures.

BGCNV Programs confront youth with incredible opportunities that stretch their boundaries and ignite their passions. Whether it’s leading a group project, performing on stage for the first time, or diving into STEM activities, our programs help kids find their joy, discover hidden talents, and connect to their futures. By stepping outside their comfort zones, they gain the confidence and skills to thrive as students and beyond.

2) Afterschool care supports working parents, strengthens local businesses, and gives kids a second home where they grow, learn, and thrive.

When parents know their children are cared for in a safe, enriching environment, like the BGCNV, they can focus on work, volunteerism, and other contributions that strengthen our community. The Boys & Girls Club isn’t just a haven for kids it’s an economic driver, enabling parents to stay in the workforce and businesses to flourish. With kids often spending more time at the Club than they do in school over the course of a year, it’s no wonder so many of them call it their second home.

3) By nurturing leadership, empathy, and inclusivity, afterschool care shapes future leaders and creates stronger, more connected communities.

Afterschool care isn’t just about keeping kids safe—it’s about shaping the leaders, problem-solvers, and compassionate citizens of tomorrow. By investing in programs that emphasize leadership, empathy, inclusivity, and joy, we’re planting the seeds for a stronger, more connected community. These values create a ripple effect that benefits not just the kids we serve, but their families, schools, and neighborhoods.

The Problem: In Napa County, the average proficiency rate for Napa Valley Unified School District students on the 2023 CAASPP test was 48% in ELA and 35% in Math, below state and national averages.

The Solution: Kids who attend the Boys & Girls Clubs of Napa Valley for 75 days or more achieve an 8% higher proficiency in ELA and a 10% higher proficiency in Math. These programs cultivate leadership, empathy, and academic success, shaping tomorrow’s leaders while addressing today’s challenges.

The Problem: Living in Napa County is increasingly unaffordable, with housing costs 155% above the national average and an overall cost of living 32.7% higher. Over the past three years, expenses have risen by 11%, straining household budgets and making it harder for families to stay in Napa.

The Solution: The Boys & Girls Clubs of Napa Valley reduces the true annual cost of care $2,400 per child to just $330 for most families through scholarships funded by partners like the Napa Valley Vintners. This affordability enables parents to work, support the local economy, and provide their children with enriching opportunities in STEM, arts, and leadership programs.

The Problem: Napa County’s economy relies heavily on working parents, who make up 63.4% of the labor force and include over 75% of farmworker families. Without affordable, reliable childcare, many parents face impossible choices between their jobs and their children’s safety, weakening both the economy and community.

The Solution: The Boys & Girls Clubs of Napa Valley provides affordable care that empowers parents to stay in the workforce while fostering leadership, empathy, and inclusivity in their children. This dual impact supports Napa’s economy today while cultivating the compassionate, skilled leaders who will strengthen it tomorrow.

Generally speaking, when school is out, Clubs are in. After eight hours of school, kids are hungry and need to RUN, JUMP, and PLAY. We make sure they have a healthy snack and then give them some unstructured time.

Power Hour is a National Boys & Girls Club program that creates structured time for homework assistance and academic enrichment. When kids are done with or have no homework, they’re still engaged in activities that reinforce school day curriculum like Math-ketbal & Language Relays.

The last portion of the day is completely dedicated to enrichment activities that help our kids to step outside of their comfort zone. In addition to national programs like Fine Arts, Triple Play Sports, and Healthy Habits Cooking, we challenge our kids and staff to come up with new and engaging programs and activities that inspire kids to do and be more.

Mobile STEM Units: Innovative, hands-on programs that spark curiosity and develop critical thinking skills. Activities include coding, robotics, and experiments that prepare kids for a techdriven future.

Fine Arts Programs: Creative outlets such as painting, sculpting, music, and theater allow kids to express themselves and explore their artistic talents. Nationally recognized initiatives highlight young artists' work.

Leadership Development Programs: Initiatives like Youth of the Year and Keystone Club inspire teens to take on leadership roles, build confidence, and develop skills that prepare them for future success.

Sports and Fitness Activities: Organized sports leagues, fitness challenges, and recreational activities promote teamwork, discipline, and physical health, helping kids stay active and build lifelong healthy habits.

Character and Citizenship Development: Programs focused on community service, ethical decision-making, and civic engagement teach kids the value of empathy, responsibility, and contributing to society.

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Activities designed to help kids develop skills like emotional regulation, resilience, and effective communication, building a strong foundation for personal and interpersonal success.

Summer and Seasonal Camps: Engaging, full-day camps during school breaks offer a mix of fun and educational activities, such as outdoor adventures, themed weeks, and academic enrichment.

Workforce Development: Programs provide mentorship, skill-building workshops, and resources to help teens explore potential career paths, apply to colleges, and prepare for the workforce.

Healthy Lifestyles and Nutrition: Cooking classes, gardening projects, and lessons in nutrition teach kids about making healthy choices, while providing access to nutritious snacks and meals.
