April was born and raised in Great Bend and graduated from Great Bend High School in 2009. Aft er high school, she attended Barton Community College on a tennis scholarship and majored in Criminal Justice. A year later she changed her major to nursing, completed her Associate Degree and became a Registered Nurse in 2014. April started her medical career as a CNA at Great Bend Regional Hospital in 2008 then changing to a Medical- Surgical Nurse, fi lling in as an Emergency Nurse and advancing to House Supervisor. She helped develop the Outpatient Nurse position and worked in that capacity until 2017. While at Great Bend Regional she also worked a second job as a Travel Nurse for Allstaff for two years, switching to Ellinwood District Hospital as a PRN RN. She still works at Ellinwood District Hospital part-time. In 2017, she began working at Clara Barton Medical Clinic in its Hoisington location as a Clinical Quality Nurse. She became a provider nurse for Debra Brockel, PA and was then promoted in 2020 as the Clinical Informatics RN and part of the leadership team for all of Clara Barton’s medical and surgical clinics.
Community
Last year she was nominated to serve on the Eisenhower Elementary and the USD 428 District site councils, she will continue to serve this year as well. She is also serving as Vice President on the Argonne Board. She has two children. Ryder, 9, is involved in traveling tackle football and wrestling. Lynnex, 5 is doing competitive cheerleading.
