Drawing Basics
Drawing course focusing on pencil work beginning with qualities of line, basic geometric shapes, value studies and forms while reviewing materials. Artists will be drawing a still life with stepby-step instruction for beginning level, and more complex still lifes for advanced levels. The class will also use photographs as reference. This course will provide drawing opportunities for every level whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist. Bring your own supplies. Taught by artist Doris Bryant.

Watercolor
Join accomplished artist and instructor Susan Herron as she guides you through watercolor techniques. Susan takes great pleasure in teaching. Her goal is to give the beginning students a solid foundation of skills and to give intermediate students a creative challenge and the desire for a personal artistic vision. Bring your own supplies.

Journaling
Journaling is a wonderful way to record, reflect, and archive our thoughts. It exercises the mind, promotes creativity, and can improve mental health. During this workshop participants will have the opportunity to complete a number of journaling exercises and share their entries, if they choose to, with other members. The workshop will include the difference between a journal and a diary, what can a journal offer? Writing in your journal and making the most of your journal. The workshop is conducted by Harriette Sackler- an author, an editor and the co-publisher at Level Best Books. Please bring your own journal or notebook and a pen.

TRAVEL TRAINING HELPS 55+ GET AROUND DMV
Travel Training is a free halfday program giving adults 55+ an introduction to local public transportation so they feel comfortable getting out and around the DMV. The seminar combines classroom discussion with a field trip on a Ride On bus to a nearby Metro station where participants receive a fare card and take a brief train ride. Program focuses on safety, accessibility, and reading maps and schedules. Presented by the Jewish Council for the Aging. Free. Pre-registration Required. Call 301.258.6380 to reserve your seat.

ARAB-AMERICAN HERITAGE THROUGH THE EYES OF MARY HAZBOUN (VIRTUAL)
Mary Hazboun is a multidisciplinary Chicago-based artist who practices “The Art of Weeping” as an act of processing grief and somatic healing of bodies through drawing and signing. We will learn about the Arab-American Heritage through Mary’s experiences, upbringing, and her art. The discussion is live streamed via zoom at the center. Free. Pre-registration Required.

MANUALIDADES: “DECORACIONES DE PASCUA”
Durante este evento haremos unos huevos dimensionales de papel para celebrar la Pascua... Si usted puede cortar y doblar, entonces podrá hacer huevos de papel de pie. La cartulina se cortará en forma de huevo, se doblará y se pegará. Esta manualidad es fácil, divertida y entretenida. Seguidamente, usted podrá cubrir los huevos terminados con lazos para que sea una versión única y diseñada por usted. Estas decoraciones se usarán como parte de la celebración de Semana Santa que principiara el día lunes 10 de abril. Este proyecto intergeneracional será gratis y se proveerán todos los materiales, pero si le interesa, por favor regístrese en la hoja del programa.

HAZ TU PROPIA PIEZA DE VIDRIO EN EL TALLER DE ARTE Y VIDRIO “MCFADDEN"
Únase a nosotros para ir a un taller único de soplado de vidrio donde usted podrá trabajar con el artista residente de vidrio. Ahí podrá participar directamente en el proceso de soplado de vidrio para crear una pieza única y para usted. Después iremos almorzar y así poder conversar y compartir sobre nuestro aprendizaje y creación. Tome nota que usted pagara por la pieza de vidrio que le costara unos $25 dólares o más y su almuerzo. Se recomienda ponerse zapatos cerrados. Si desea puede llevar refrescos al taller. El personal del Centro recogerá los productos terminados en su nombre en un día posterior.
