Floral Design Classes

9. Judging will be based on the principles of design: balance, contrast, dominance, proportion, rhythm and scale; and the elements of design: light, space, line, form, color, texture, pattern and size. Creativity is important, as are distinction, conformance to and interpretation of the class and schedule.

10. Accessories are permitted, unless otherwise stated in the class description.

11. Pedestals and tables may not be moved. Tops of pedestals may not be enlarged or draped.

12. Wall color is white.

13. Floral Designs have no height restrictions unless otherwise noted in the class description.

14. All exhibits must be removed on Friday, April 22, 2022, between 4:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

15. Questions regarding class requirements may be directed to the division chair, Stephanie Shanks.

DIVISION I: Floral Design

Technicolor

Classes

Class 1 Out of the Blue 4 Entries

A contemporary design staged on a 40” high x 14” square acrylic pedestal. Dimensions of the design may not exceed 15” from the center of the pedestal. Judged from all sides.

Education Note: Contemporary design is a floral design not following traditional styles, using imagination and creativity to devise new approaches to the selection and organization of plant material and other components according to the principles and elements of design.

Class 2 With Flying Colors 4 Entries

A mobile design that is staged on a 40” high x 14” square white wooden pedestal. Dimensions of the design may not exceed 15” from the center of the pedestal. The exhibitor creates the design and the structure suspending the design. Judged from all sides.

Education Note: A mobile design is a suspended design consisting of individual parts which can be moved by air currents.

Class 3 Through Rose-colored Glasses 4 Entries

A design incorporating fresh roses staged on a 40” high x 14” square white wooden pedestal. Dimensions of the design may not exceed 15” from the center of the pedestal. Judged from 3 sides.
