CELEBRATING 50 YEARS IN THE COMMUNITY

WESTLAKE YACHT CLUB (WYC) IS ONE OF WESTLAKE’S BEST KEPT SECRETS. Founded in 1969, this private club is owned and operated by its members. Membership is open to the general public and the WYC offers reciprocity with other member Yacht Clubs around the world. WYC is a sailing club, however it is not necessary to live on the lake, own a boat or be a sailor to become a member - many members join the club for the wide-range of social activities!

The newly renovated Clubhouse, located on Westlake Lake hosts live bands, DJ’s, comedy nights, game nights, tai chi and karaoke throughout the year. There are also dinner dances and theme parties including the annual Commodore’s Ball, New Year’s Eve, Sweetheart Ball and Halloween just to name a few. Westlake Yacht Club is also a great venue to rent for private events. Whether for a wedding or business retreat, the beautiful clubhouse and expansive deck offer spectacular sunset views over the lake and the most beautiful setting for a private gathering. The space can accommodate over 200 guests and at night, the amber string lights over the deck provides a stunning setting.

Westlake Yacht Club is organized into a collection of fleets and these fleets organize events based upon their specialty: The Sailing Fleet promotes sailing and racing for both adults and children. The Club offers a Summer Sailing Academy for children 9 - 18. There are regular sailing regattas on Sunday afternoons approximately once a month and open

sailing for juniors and adults on Friday afternoons during the summer months and as requested. The Blue Water Fleet is for anyone who enjoys being near the ocean. This fleet “cruises” (by car) to other yacht clubs for brunch or lunch. It offers a great opportunity to learn about reciprocal privileges with other yacht clubs. Additionally, this fleet gives members a chance to participate in weekend ocean trips.

The Nautical Fleet (Nauti) features dinner dances, wine tasting and other social activities outside of normal club events The Friendship Fleet has a 16’ Party Boat that is available for use by Club members and many people join the Yacht Club to go out on a pontoon boat and enjoy the beautiful lake. The Kayak Fleet has three tandem and seven single kayaks available for use by its members getting some exercise while kayaking around the lake and they even have regularly planned meet ups. The Movie Fleet, the newest fleet, meets once a month and features a light dinner and full-length feature movie for $10 all in the comfort of the club on a big screen TV!

Whether you are a sailor or just interested in meeting a new group of friends, Westlake Yacht Club has something for everyone. Couples, singles, young families or retirees are all welcome and invited to be a part of this 50 year old tradition in our community.
