Christine Curry Painter My journey in painting really started in 2016. I was able to focus full time on a skill I enjoyed and which brought me into contact with a fascinating universe of people. I found figurative work the most interesting and I took my subject matter from vintage black and white photos adding backgrounds taken from places I had traveled. My landscape and nature paintings are done in oils and pastels. Many started on site, then were completed at home in my studio. Colors and their subtle inter relationships are a strong component in their creation. I am inspired by color, light and texture using them to support what I am wishing to impart to my viewers. I use oils and pastels for their fluidity, their ease in blending and ability to create a glow in my work.

richard curtner Mixed Media
Richard Curtner’s artwork writes epic poetry within the visual. His word collages are created by combining thousands of cut-outs of written text all pertaining to a particular theme. Every minute detail is cut out with an x-acto knife. The end result is a distinctive form of artwork in which you can see something different every time you look at it.

Dreaming of the sea and horses. I grew up at Muir Beach just North of the Golden Gate and in the Napa Valley where impressions of Northern California and my continued passion for riding have become the inspiration for my paintings. I studied fine art at CCSF and graphic design at Platt College in San Francisco and became a furniture designer for my family’s furniture business. My furniture designs have been featured on HGTV and Extreme Makeover and showroom has been shopped by Sherwin Williams to determine current color forecasts. Now a full time artist, my art has been purchased by HGTV Secrets of a Stylist’s show and by the editors of Better Homes and Gardens Magazine. It is in collections throughout the world and sold through Galleries, Designer Showrooms and Furniture Stores, as well as the High Point Furniture Market. I work out of my Petaluma, CA studio/gallery which is open by appointment.

Marilyn Froggatt painter
Marilyn Froggatt explores the depth and beauty of nature as an impressionist landscape painter. She begins her paintings working in the Plein Air genre and evolves them into larger and more complex canvases in her studio. “When I begin a painting, I make decisions immediately regarding the light and shadow, the color values and most importantly, the meaning of the composition. I want my art to represent more than just being decorative or useful; instead, I want to record the feeling and emotion behind the subjects in the painting.” Marilyn has developed her painting skills with the help of master painters Randall Sexton, Terry Masters, Elaine Mathews, John Budicin, and Greg LaRock. Marilyn has painted many times all over the western United States. Her work is shown consistently in many galleries throughout Southern California. Her schedule of shows and gallery locations can be located on her website. She also participates in several exhibits and events annually.”

David Falossi with his son Christopher carve exotic stone glass and metals to create their sculpture. Their home and art studio is nestled into the rock in a community called Boulder Ridge in Yucca Valley. When asked to describe his inspiration David explains, ”Sculpture is how I communicate my perspective, vision, and wonder of the miraculous equation of life. I want to entice the viewer with beauty- not just visual attraction but a physical feeling that moves and resonates. I look for the spirit of my subject. Why is this happening? What is it about this theme that inspires me? Can it have a positive effect on people? There is a pattern of my subject matter to engage the viewer and redirect focus from the visual to the deeper meaning and the more profound potential in all of us.”

ronWoodWorking Purvis
I’ve been working with wood across many different crafts for 30 years. When I started exploring woodturning, I discovered a form that allowed me to introduce a much greater degree of creativity and flexibility into my work than I had found in furniture making, toy creation, and construction. My previous career of 25 years as a financial controller consisted of sitting at a desk all day, applying defined rules, and negotiating future actions. Woodworking, in particular woodturning, has become a necessary activity for me to find balance. It’s an outlet for individuality, creativity, and the production of a tangible item that I didn’t find in my previous profession.

Larry Beard PhotograPher
Larry Beard’s love for the ocean and art started at an early age. His interest and respect for the ocean came from his time in competitive surfing where he thrived as an amateur, winning over thirty events, and went on to surf in the US Pro Tour for 10 years. While garnering a love for the ocean, he also took art classes and developed his artistic eye and own unique, abstract style. Larry’s sense for business that has built Solitary Exposure today has evolved through his involvement in 14 different start-up businesses in his career. These experiences culminate in Larry’s distinct experience as a businessman but also an artist who is always working to hone both crafts. From working in several businesses and fashion photography, Larry was called back to the ocean and his journey with ocean and landscape photography began. Now, Larry Beard is a National Geographic-awarded Photographer specializing in largeformat printing on HD Aluminum. Using a 62-megapixel camera, water housing, and years of experience creates Larry’s remarkable imagery.

I want my paintings to be places for a viewer to pause and relax, to enjoy and contemplate.” Her painting “Marina Twilight” was recently on display in The de Young Open 2023 exhibition in San Francisco’s de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park (October 2023 to January 2024). Her earlier painting “A View from the Pier” was selected for the inaugural de Young Open exhibition (October 2020 to January 2021).
