T E L F A E L E TH The following is an example how a leaflet can look like. You can have as many pages as the printshop allows you to. The format for one page is 210x100mm. The width is 210mm and the height 100mm.

3 Date The date should always be highlighted through a cloud.

Please make sure that headline and subline fit into this area. It may be necessary to scale down the image in order to have more space.

If you like or need to highlight a special film or event use (Picture: SFF 2016 Red, backa ground: SFF 2016 Yellow) and a white box with 5 edges. You can alternate the length and the angles of this form until it matches your needs. But keep in mind the form you are generating should match the "handmade" and asymmetric style.

Graphic Elements You can insert every image of the graphic material wherever you want except on pictures. Please make sure that text is always readable. So do not place any dark or complex image under text.

How to generate a monochrome picture

1 Original material

34

2 Convert the original picture into grayscale (e.g. in Photoshop). If needed the contrast can be increased to improve the monochrome effect.

A CELEBRATION OF SCIENCE COMMUNICATION

01/10 – 18/12/2016

Title "A Celebration Of Science Communication" Translation in Your Language The Science Film Festival is a celebration of science communication and enjoys a unique position in Southeast Asia, North Africa and the Middle East: In cooperation with local partners it promotes science literacy and facilitates awareness of contemporary scientific, technological and environmental issues through film and television content with accompanying educational activities. The festival presents scientific issues accessibly and entertainingly and demonstrates that science can be communicated in an entertaining manner. By facilitating cooperation from the scientific, cultural, educational and environmental sector, with the generous support of the international film and television community, an effective infrastructure is put in place for the dissemination of scientific understanding. All films are synchronized into local languages to offer viewers access to the content without language barriers. During the festival period, the films are screened non-commercially in museums, schools, universities and other educational venues through coordinated efforts of partners with existing networks and the capabilities to organize such screenings. The festival offers a platform for cultural exchange through which different approaches to the world of science converge. Teilnehmende Länder The Science Film Festival is organized in each country by the Goethe-Institut in close cooperation with local partners. The festival relies on the collaboration and active participation of science education institutions, schools, universities, ministries and cultural centres in each of the host countries, as well as the enthusiasm of their staff and other partners, such as NGOs, educators and student volunteer groups, who facilitate the screenings and activities.

X:ENIUS: LENSES – BETTER THAN THE HUMAN EYE? Synopsis /Lenses determine how we perceive our world. Without such optical aid, no imaging technique of modernity would exist. However, in fact it hides a complex technique: an expensive hightech lens today consists of up to 800 parts. The film asks if lenses are ultimately even better than the human eye. In scientific research, new optical methods are triggering a revolution in how we perceive the world through our artificial eyes.

HURRICANE: THE ANATOMY – PREDICTING THE UNPREDICTABLE

ANNEDROIDS – 108 – PAL IN THE MIDDLE

Ouragan

Synopsis /Shania is stuck at home taking care of her little brother Garth while Anne and Nick build a rainbow maker with a prism. Unfortunately, while Anne and Nick are busy, the prism accidentally sails over the junkyard fence when “Hand” and “Eyes” are playing monkey in the middle with “Pal”.

Synopsis /Hurricanes Hurricanes are the strongest storms on earth. Many begin as harmless breezes from Northern Africa; inoffensive winds that gradually move westwards over the tropical Atlantic Ocean, gathering energy from the warm seawater, building in strength and gradually forming the unmistakable spiral of extreme winds and thunderstorms that characterize hurricanes. Shot entirely in 3D, this three-part series has been produced over a three-year period, with crews standing in the path of hurricane landfalls, such as Sandy and Isaac, to witness the devastation wreaked by one of the most powerful forces on earth.

I GOT IT! – CLIMATE CHANGE

Synopsis /This episode of the Southeast Asian series “I Got It!” tries to make other children understand more about the effects of climate change through the story of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) victims Dimple and Hadassa. The two girls share their experiences and observations during the typhoon and how they cope with the situation. The episode also explains how global warming and climate change can result to catastrophic effects and present ways on how we can help in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
