“Would you be willing to pay more?” You can be upset and die that way or get over it and enjoy life….

more than a few. A lot of the nastiness gets posted on different social media outlets. Calling City leaders, state leaders, show promoters and venue owners some rather colorful names and adjectives.

This is a piece of advice I was given a long time ago and follow to this day...sharing it with you now...it’s YOUR choice now.

Is a car show, cruise-in or other gearhead type event, that doesn't happen in the interest of peoples safety, worth that much energy and in some cases hatred towards another person(s)??? I would say to you...NO IT’s NOT!! It’s JUST a car event.

The reason I bring this up and throwing it out there to you , is here recently, as a lot of people are still in some form of “stay at home” action, either mandated or voluntary (not getting into politics here). It’s different state by state and city by city.

Take a moment and put yourself in the other persons shoes. Would you be willing to possible jeopardize other people getting sick or heaven forbid worse by letting an event go on?

The fallout from these state and city required actions if you will, for lack of a different term, is that a lot of car shows and gearhead events have been and are being cancelled.

Would you be willing to pay more to be part of an event, for the additional insurance for an event, (THIS IS VERY REAL!) in case someone sues you for holding the event and then they get sick from COVID19, even thought they did come VOLUNTARILY to the event??

We know this as well as anyone as we bring the info to you. We see events going from happening to not happening in a few days or sometimes hours before the event was to happen.

There is a lot that goes into a decision to cancel and event and since we aren't in the room we don’t hear it all. So again I will ask you is it worth getting that upset over a cancelled event...I say NO...just go drive your cool car

When an event gets cancelled, gearheads get disappointed as they want to go out and have some fun at it. This is very understandable. We feel the same way.

Holley Cancels LS Fest West In Las Vegas Unfortunately, we just heard the news that Holley made the call to cancel LS Fest West in Las Vegas due to the Covid-19 situation. Nevada, like many other states, is reopening businesses with a phased approach. At this time, no one has any idea of when large crowds will be permitted to gather. However, Holley will be refunding those who pre-purchased tickets as soon as possible. Blane Burnett, Holley’s events & content manager, says, “We’re grateful for our loyal Holley LS Fest fans that didn’t give up on the event. We know they were really looking forward to the event, and so were we. We pour our hearts into this event and love seeing everyone enjoy it as much as we do. Rest assured, we will be back in 2021, delivering more fun than ever!” However, there is good news. According to Burnett, LS Fest West pre-registered participants will receive a courtesy care package from Holley. It will contain an event T-shirt, event poster, and a collectible pin. If you weren’t preregistered and still want a t-shirt, you can still purchase one. Burnett says, “This 2020 LS Fest West shirt will also be available at www.holley.com in recognition of ‘The Most Awesome Event That Never Happened.’ Stay tuned to LS Fest’s social media over the June 1214 weekend, as we virtually celebrate the awesome LS engine with content from previous event years, LS Fest West related giveaways, product giveaways, and more!” The good news is LS Fest East is still on schedule for September 11-13 in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Holley is doing something special. Burnett affirms, “Holley will also randomly select ten lucky LS Fest West pre-registrants to receive a free entry into this fall’s LS Fest East event, along with some travel money to help get them there!” We expect this event will be bigger than ever and we hope to see you there. 7

If it’s late August, then it’s time to head to “P-Town”! 2019 saw the 33rd Edition of the Goodguys West Coast Nationals take place at the Alameda County Fairgrounds. The fairgrounds located in Pleasanton California, are some of the nicest anywhere in the USA, to hold a gearhead event at. The GOODGUYS West Coast

Nationals are also referred to as the “CROWN JEWEL in the GOODGUYS yearly line-up of events. Having attended more than a couple, we would have to agree! With your oldest event being held in your home base of operations, all the 22

Monday thru Thursday prior to the show, every morning at about 8:30am outside the host hotel, directions are handed out for that days tour stops in the Nor-Cal area. 23

All weekend long the West Coast Nationals are filled with so many different events within the event.

The swap meet is always busy with buyers and sellers bartering for the best deal. The Car Corral sees many different rides for sale in various forms or running and not running. More haggling taking place as sellers want the most and the buyers are looking for a steal. The fairgrounds are host to many manufacturers & vendors selling parts of every kind and description. You could damn near build a whole hot rod with everyone set up at the show .

all over the show site to meet the needs of hungry and thirsty gearheads out in the sun all day.

The unique displays add so much more to this event. The tether cars running on the track are awesome. Seeing new cars as well as many “vintage” tether cars run to see who is fastest is cool. Pedal cars and “scooters” on display in an other buildings is sweet. The Bay Area Model Engine club with their scaled down , RUNNING V8’s, bangers and even BLOWN motors. If you have never seen these they are unbelievable! Let’s not forget the Friday Shadetree Social hosted by the Over the Hill Gang...nothing but fun at this part of the show.

The real stars of the weekend are all the cool rides that come out to the show. Goodguys hands out a number of awards with the crowning of America’s Most Beautiful Street Rod being awarded also. Before you know it, the weekend has flown by and it’s time to wrap it up until next year. The 2020 West Coast Nationals is on the GOODGUYS schedule as we write this. Here’s hoping they get it in!
