This week there were a couple of big gearhead event announcements. The announcements caused happiness and sadness for gearheads.

We have already heard that some vendors will not be going to the Nats in 2020. They are going to pass as they do not want to jeopardize their employees health. YES we all have to respect their decision .

The sad news for some gearheads came in the form of an announcement that the FROG FOLLIES held at the end of August each year, would not take place this year, The E’Vlle Iron Club made the difficult decision after a painstaking review, to cancel the 2020 show in light of the current situation with COVID-19. A lot of street rodders who attend each year at one of the few PRE –48 only shows in the USA have voiced either support or sadness or in some cases anger.

There will be gearheads that don’t go for the same reason, they don’t want to take a chance with getting sick possibly. YES we have to respect their decision. There will be both vendors and gearheads that turnout for the show, and that’s ok as they feel comfortable with attending. YES we have to respect their decision too. There is absolutely nothing wrong with any of this. These are all personal and company decisions. Choices are good and what events if any in 2020 you chose to attend , enjoy your day or long weekend.

The happy news that has gearheads smiling is that the NSRA Street Rod Nationals will take place as scheduled the first weekend in August at the Kentucky Expo Center. The State of Kentucky gave NSAR the green light to move forward. Now the only question is, how many gearheads will show up and

Limited Spectators Allowed at Upcoming NASCAR Events NASCAR has announced its plan to reintroduce spectators at select NASCAR Cup Series races beginning with the Dixie Vodka 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway on June 14 and the GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway on June 21. NASCAR’s modified event procedures, protocols and number of attendees have been finalized with guidance from public health officials, medical experts and local, state and federal officials. All guests in attendance will be screened before entering, required to wear face coverings, mandated to social distance at 6 feet, and will not have access to the infield, among other revised operational protocols. NASCAR says it will continue to adapt and improve its procedures to ensure they are effective and can be scaled to support an increased number of fans in the future.

“We have tremendous respect and appreciation for the responsibility that comes with integrating guests back into our events,” said Daryl Wolfe, executive vice president, chief operations and sales officer, NASCAR. “We believe implementing this methodical process is an important step forward for the sport and the future of live sporting events. The passion and unwavering support of our industry and fans is the reason we race each weekend and we look forward to slowly and responsibly welcoming them back at select events.” NASCAR will honor military members by welcoming them as the first guests allowed entrance to a NASCAR Cup Series event since March 8. Homestead-Miami Speedway will invite up to 1,000 South Florida service members as honorary guests for the Dixie Vodka 400, representing the Homestead Air Reserve Base and U.S. Southern Command in Doral. Talladega Superspeedway will allow up to 5,000 guests in the front stretch grandstands/ towers for the GEICO 500. In addition, there will be limited motorhome/5th-wheel camping spots available outside the track. Tickets are open exclusively on a first come, first served basis to fans who purchased tickets or reserved camping for the originally scheduled GEICO 500 (April 26) and live within a designated proximity to the track. Additional protocols and procedures for guests planning to attend can be found at Homestead-Miami Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway.

National Corvette Museum Reopens to the Public New and Renovated Exhibit Spaces Ready to Welcome Visitors After a nearly 12-week closure, the National Corvette Museum reopened to the public on Monday, June 8. Like many businesses, the Museum has implemented recommended procedures to keep guests and staff safe during their visit.

Fans of the Chevrolet Corvette are invited to experience the many improvements that have been in the works for the past six months as two completely remodeled galleries are now open, as well as one new exhibit and one refreshed exhibit. "We kicked off renovations last November, and have been hard at work on the new E. Pierce Marshall Memorial Performance Gallery ever since," shared Museum Director of Collections / Curator Derek E. Moore. "For those who have visited us in the past, we think they'll be impressed with the upgrades. And for those who have yet to visit, they'll be equally impressed by technology as advanced as the car it celebrates." Also newly remodeled is the Design and Engineering Gallery which now features 'The Vision Realized: 60 Years of Mid-Engine Corvette Design.' "General Motors approached us about an exhibit they were developing, which focuses on the key vehicles that built the foundation for the 2020 Corvette Stingray," shared Derek. â&#x20AC;&#x153;We are excited to be the first location to display the exhibit." Visitors will discover a new 'Entombed Corvette' display in the Nostalgia Gallery of the Museum, showcasing the iconic 1954 Corvette that had been 'cemented in history' for 27 years. Thanks to the generosity of exhibit sponsors Robin and Mary Vann of the East Tennessee Corvette Club, the display is a recreation of the brick 'tomb' the car was once housed in, including features similar to the original including a small viewing window, two light bulbs and a single access hatch.

Finally, visitors who are intrigued by the 'sinkhole story' will have a new attraction to check out. The simulation of the cave collapse has received an upgrade and now features all eight Corvettes as part of the virtual experience. In addition to the gallery enhancements, the Museum also features a special exhibit for 2020 entitled 'Cartoon Creatures, Kustom Kars and Corvettes: The Art and Influence of Ed 'Big Daddy' Roth.' The candy-colored, artistic automotive marvels tell the story of Ed Roth and those who were inspired by his work, including GM's Tom Peters, who co-curated the exhibit and who's 'Transformer' Corvettes are also displayed. The Museum is located at I-65, exit 28 in Bowling Green, Kentucky and is open daily, 8am5pm CT. 7

Goodguys headed back to Lexington for the 2nd Kentucky Nationals at the Kentucky Horse Park. The theme of cool cars, cool people and good times was in full force as the scenic grounds of the Kentucky Horse Park hosted this three-day celebration of the American hot rod. This fall gathering brought together over 1,500 candy-colored and chromed hot rods, customs, classics, muscle cars and trucks to the Kentucky Horse Park with all sorts of automotive happenings throughout the weekend. 26

The Kentucky Horse Park is a fantastic facility that provided manicured grounds for all the cool rides, and the Alltech Arena was used for the indoor space for commercial vendors and a beautiful concourse and so much more. Throw in the food booths, Goodguys AutoCross racing, kidsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; zone, entertainment and you had an amazing automotive festival that was not to be missed. For those who had the need for speed, the shrill sound of rubber meeting pavement filled the air with excitement as competitors in the Goodguys AutoCross, a closed

performance racecourse, offered participants the chance to test their vehicle speed & agility. The Goodguys AutoCross is a popular feature for both participants and spectators at most of the Goodguys events, creating some amazing racing competition. It was an all-out battle all weekend long and a race against the clock. Again, this year, the Southern Shootout AutoCross event happened on Saturday afternoon. Qualifying was held on Friday and early Saturday for the Auto27 Cross Shootout.

The field is based strictly on speed as the top 16 raced in two eight-car fields. The winners of each of the events in Southern Shootout punched their ticket to the Duel in the Desert, the AutoCross Season finale at the Goodguys 22nd Southwest Nationals, November 16 at WestWorld of Scottsdale in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Goodguys burnout contest came to the Kentucky Nationals! The burnout contest was held on Saturday afternoon and it was a Smokin’ Good Time to say the least. Smoke ‘Em if you got ‘Em! Crowd participation decided the champion. New for 2019, the Goodguys Nitro Thunderfest dragster exhibition brought old school drag racing to life! The Nitro Thunderfest has become a tradition at many of the Goodguys events! Front-motored, nitro burnin’ vintage top fuel dragsters and funny cars fired up and roared to life! Drag racing enthusiasts young and old enjoyed the “cackle” of these resurrected pieces of automotive racing history!

For those who needed to do some shopping for a project car or truck, the midway featured multi-million-dollar custom big rig tractor trailers (a show in and of themselves) offering high-performance parts and accessories to budding hot rodders and do-it-yourselfers. The Alltech Arena showcased the indoor vendor exhibits giving event attendees the best of both worlds. Having the chance to interact directly with manufacturers has long been an appealing aspect of Goodguys events. Spectre Performance All American Sunday on Sunday, offered owners of American made or powered show cars and trucks of all years to be part of the event to show off next to the 1987 and earlier iron. We would like to tell you to make plans for the 3rd Kentucky Nationals, but Goodguys has since made the decision to not come back to the Bluegrass State for 2020.
